‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ Teaser Is Something Good

by 05/16/14

Here come the Guardians!

Today brought us a new poster for our super-anticipated superhero flick, and the full trailer for “Guardians of the Galaxy” drops on Monday. To hold us over through the long, cold weekend, however, the powers that be (ahem, Marvel) have dropped a 30 second teaser on us.

And though Chris Pratt, who plays Star-Lord, also known as Peter Quill, theorizes that he and his band of intergalactic buddies have been put here for “something good, something bad, bit of both,” we mostly think of this teasy, teasy snippet as something good. Something very good.

The gang’s all here, including Star-Lord (Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel), Drax (Dave Bautista) and Rocket Raccoon (voiced by Bradley Cooper). And this time, you don’t even have to get “Hooked on a Feeling” stuck in your head! Oh, wait. There it is.

The new trailer for “Guardians of the Galaxy” will premiere Monday, May 19 on the movie’s Facebook page. “Guardians of the Galaxy” hits theaters August 1.

These GIFs Are The Most Fun (And Terrifying) Things We’ve Seen At Hangout Fest

by 05/16/14

Hang loose, music lovers.

My preference is that you’d all be at 2014 Hangout Festival with MTV, but not everyone can be in Gulf Shores, Alabama, right now. The second best thing is that you’re following along with the live stream. And if you’re catching up afterward, here are some GIFs to get you in the know about what went down during Day One. You’re welcome.

On a day that saw Wiz Khalifa, Black Lips and a sea full of flower crowns, Hangout fans realized that all they needed was music, love and an extra pair of underwear. Here are the GIFiest moments from Friday (May 16).

We saw a lot of chicks hooping

You go, girl

We met this lil’ big guy

I took a selfie in front of this Ferris wheel

Amber Rose gave us a sweet kiss. Jeal?

And we danced to Ingrid Michaelson’s “Girls Chase Boys”

Music lives!

You know what it is, Wiz Khalifa.

Childish Gambino was super animated onstage

And the 1975? Yeah, they were amazing.

This guy was un-bear-ably cute.

And this girl scared the sh– out of us, but whatever, we have tomorrow to gain our wits back.

Exclusive: Wiz Khalifa Getting Ready To Drop 28 Grams Mixtape

by 05/16/14

Wiz Khalifa is getting ready to roll out his Blacc Hollywood album later this year (he has a release date that he’s not ready to share), but in the meantime… he’s going to drop a new mixtape. After his set at Hangout Fest on Friday night (May 16), Wiz revealed to MTV News that 28 Grams is coming sooner than we might expect.

On Thursday, Wiz tweeted that he had some big news coming soon; we coaxed him into revealing that it was his mixtape announcement.

“It’s gonna drop fast. You should go home,” Wiz joked, adding that it was more than an appetizer for Blacc Hollywood. “It’s more than a teaser, it’s gonna get the Khalifa train rolling.”

The Taylor Gang rapper recently dropped his video for “We Dem Boyz,” which included cameos from Big K.R.I.T., Rich Homie Quan and B.O.B. And when he hits the road for his Under the Influence of Music tour in July, he’ll have some more friends along for the ride. Jeezy and Tyga will be co-headlining, along with additional guests.

Here’s How Lea Michele Would Really Handle A Feud With Naya Rivera

by 05/16/14

We’re not sure who came up with the rumors that Naya Rivera was causing serious, career-ending drama on the set of “Glee,” but whoever you are, Lea Michele thinks you’re pretty damn annoying.

Shortly after Big Sean’s ex-fiancee was confirmed to be returning to the Fox show despite reports that she was fired, Lea Michele spoke out about what makes all the rumors so “frustrating.”

“it’s really unbelievable the amount of the things that can just be completely made up, and it’s really frustrating,” she said on “The Late Show” on Friday (May 16) after the host joked that he had heard she punched someone on set. “I think the way people like to pit women against each other … it’s really annoying, and it’s really sad.”

Earlier this week, show creator Ryan Murphy also called the feud rumors “completely fabricated.”

“I don’t think there is a story between Naya and Lea,” he told Extra. “Naya’s coming back next year, Lea’s coming back next year – anybody ever in that cast has an open invitation to come back and finish the character they so beautifully started.”

And if there were ever beef with her co-star, Michele says she’d know exactly how to handle it.

“If there were ever really a catfight on the show, you’d know about it, because I’d get a ring, and I’d put jello in it, and I’d make it fun for everyone, and it would be super hot.”

Michael Sam Docu-Series Gets Postponed

by 05/16/14

By Maurice Bobb

Michael Sam’s docu-series has officially been sacked.

Just two days after Oprah Winfrey’s OWN network revealed its plan to film the NFL’s first openly gay player’s journey as he tries to make the St. Louis Rams’ final roster, OWN and Sam’s representation announced Friday (May 16) that the series has been postponed.

Critics and sports pundits expressed doubts that the defensive end’s mind would be focused on football with camera crews following his every move, so the decision was made to table the show.

“After careful consideration and discussion with the St. Louis Rams, the untitled Michael Sam project has been postponed, allowing Michael the best opportunity to achieve his dream of making the team,” said Erik Logan, president of OWN. “OWN is about elevating and empowering people to achieve their best. It’s clear that we, along with the world, recognize the important opportunity that Michael now has in this moment. We will continue to support him in his journey to earn a spot playing for the Rams.”

The former SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Year’s agent, Cameron Weiss, agreed that it was in his client’s best interest to curtail bringing his “deeply personal” story to the small screen, for now.

“After today’s meeting with the Rams, we collectively feel it is best to postpone the project,” said Weiss. “This will allow for Michael to have a total focus on football and will ensure no distractions to his teammates. Everybody involved remains committed to this project and understands its ...

‘The Fault In The Stars’ Author Says There’s One Thing That Makes The Movie ‘A Lot Better’

by 05/16/14

When your novel is getting the big-screen treatment, you’re bound to be a bit particular to make sure it stays true to the story you created. But in the case of John Green, the author of “The Fault in Our Stars” he’s well aware that there’s something that “changed” his story when director Josh Boone made a movie out of it – and he’s not complaining at all.

It’s the music. And with a rollercoaster of ballads and anthems from the likes of Birdy, Grouplove, Ed Sheeran and Ray LaMontagne, the soundtrack to “The Fault in Our Stars” only makes the story – about two cancer young patients who fall in love — that much more powerful.

“I love the soundtrack; I’m so thrilled with it. Music changes a story,” Green told MTV News earlier this week at the “Fault in Our Stars” Livestream Concert at Los Angeles’ YouTube Space. “I saw the movie before the soundtrack was final… and it’s a very different movie now. It’s a lot better. It was already a beautiful story, but with the music, it just makes it that much more powerful.”

Perhaps one of the reasons it is so powerful is that Boone made sure the artists knew the exact moment their song would appear. In the case of Grouplove, who contribute the uplifting “Let Me In,” they created the track specifically for one moment: when Gus (played by Ansel Elgort) surprises Hazel (Shailene Woodley) by showing up to her house in a limo, standing ...

Did Meek Mill Just Tease Jay Z And Nas Collaboration?

by 05/16/14

By Maurice Bobb

Want to get the hype machine gassed up and plowing down the speedway for your upcoming project?

Then do what Meek Mill did Friday (May 16) and tease a possible collaboration with hip-hop heavyweights Jay Z and Nas while playing snippets of another song entirely.

While previewing a song called “Wrongs” featuring Gourdan on Instagram, the MMG spitter showed video of his computer screen, and a track titled “Scarface” featuring the God MCs is all but lit up on a marquee.

If the tracklisting is to be believed, there are two different versions of the song. One has Jay and Nipsey Hustle listed as guests, while the second has Hov and Esco listed. Both tracks are short at two minutes and 49 seconds. A third version with the Roc Nation CEO and the Illmatic rapper runs for three minutes and 19 seconds.

Meek makes no mention of the star-studded collab in the video or the caption, but he had to know that screenshot would fan the flames of anticipation for his yet-untitled sophomore LP.

In another IG video, the Philly representer previewed an intro track called “Mo Money.” A brief listen reveals that it has the same stream-of-consciousness type of flow displayed on the Dreams and Nightmares intro, but will it be another example of the “best rap moments of our generation” like the original?

Drake and the rest of us will have to wait and see.

But as far as generating a buzz goes, the hip-hop hornets nest has ...

Finally, Nas’ Lost Tapes 2 Is Coming On Mass Appeal Records

by 05/16/14

By Maurice Bobb

To the fans who have been waiting since 2010 for Nas to release The Lost Tapes: Vol. 2, your patience is finally being rewarded.

That’s right, four years after revealing exclusively on MTV News that LT2 would be available in December of 2010, Esco’s new independent label, Mass Appeal Records, announced Friday (May 16) that it will release the LP.

The Lost Tapes (2002) featured tracks left on the cutting-room floor over the years while Nas was recording proper albums like I Am…, Nastradamus and Stillmatic. In a word, the classic compilation was a collection of street bangers, songs not exactly meant for the radio. LT2 will be more of the same.

“I’m unloading records I want the streets to hear,” the Queens rapper said back in 2010. “Cleaning out my hard drives. Gonna do this, then start fresh. I’m dropping my solo LP before the summer of 2011. I love the energy the world has been giving me over the last two years. But now it’s time to focus on owning the streets again.”

When LT2 didn’t hit shelves as planned, Nas penned a scathing email to Def Jam about skimping on the funds needed, challenging them to “Open the REAL budget” for the project, but it never saw the light of day. Now that he’s running the show, fans will finally get classic, Nasty Nas material.

In addition to dropping LT2, Mass Appeal Records will release the first of an annual compilation series that will feature ...

by 05/16/14

Two of the most popular things over the last month have been “Game of Thrones” and the NBA Playoffs. Now, the two have been married in this hilarious parody.

Bleacher Report created an animated spoof that merges the two otherwise unrelated entities, and the result is fantastic. Basketball stars like LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook take a “GoT” approach on their quest for a championship.

Is This 1975 Vine The Least Beachy Moment Of Hangout Fest?

by 05/16/14

While most of the folks here at Hangout Fest 2014 are kitted out in bikinis and flower crowns, The 1975 didn’t even kick off their boots to feel the sand between their toes.

Check out this amazing Vine of the dudes playing leapfrog down here in Gulf Shores, Alabama — in jeans, long-sleeves, boots and TONS of black.
