It takes a lot of confidence to wear a bikini. At least that’s what pop duo Tegan and Sara told MTV News on Saturday.

If that’s true, the 2014 Hangout Festival is brimming with self-assurance.

“People come here and they swim and they swing around in hammocks and then they go watch music,” Tegan told us after their set. “People seemed really happy and they definitely seemed nice and tanned.”

Although they were telling fans that they had bikinis under their clothes — leather jackets and black skinny jeans — they were very adamant about NOT showing a lot of skin during a show.

“We actually have a rule: no one’s allowed to wear shorts onstage. It just doesn’t look very rock!” Tegan said.

Her twin sister Sara agreed.

“It’s important to me that you look cool onstage,” she said. “It’s not that you don’t look cool onstage, but it’s implied when you’re wearing a bathing suit that you’re doing a beach activity or lounging. When you’re onstage you’re there to…”

“Rock out,” Tegan said.

But with temps in the 80s today, going without shorts didn’t seem like an option.

“We suffer through,” Sara said.

Who wants the perfect love story anyway? A Jay Z and Beyoncé romance is much more exciting.

The Carters once again flexed their muscle late Saturday night when they dropped a star-studded trailer for “Run,” a film based off of their upcoming tour and 2013 collaboration “Part II (On the Run).”

Not only do we get to see the “Drunk in Love” couple shooting guns and evading the law, the Carters recurited a gang of A-list Hollywood talent to help tell their story. Sean Penn, Don Cheadle, Guillermo Díaz, Emmy Rossum, Jake Gyllenhaal, Blake Lively, Rashida Jones, and Kidada Jones, all play roles.

We’re guessing that the trailer, which was directed by Melina Matsoukas, would surely draw a crowd to the box office, except it appears that Hov and Bey have no plans of ever releasing it. Just when the adrenaline-pumping clip draws to a close the words “coming never” flash across the screen.

While we’re still not over Cody Simpson being voted off this season’s “Dancing With The Stars” (c’mon, the boy’s got game), we are happy to see he’ll be returning for the Season 18 finale episode, which airs on Tuesday, along with his dance partner Whitney Carson. Lady Gaga posted a photo of herself in the woods, on an ATV, wearing overalls and raising a beer in the universal sign for “I’m a massively famous pop start drinking a beer in a random forest on an ATV” and Gaga’s farmer’s daughter moment raises many questions — far more than it does answers. Like, for instance, why drink from a can of beer when you could be sipping tea on fine china with Sway? And was Lady Gaga listening to Luke Bryan? Because, you know. Been there sister. (Not proud, but also, I’d do it again, and I probably will).

Glad to see Gaga did the responsible thing and took the passenger seat while enjoying an adult beverage. And nice to see she ditched the backward platform concept shoe in favor of a sensible forest footwear. And I’m sure coveralls are comfy and everything (they are having a moment, you know). But if Gaga is moving into a phase where she exclusively shops at Bass Pro Shop, I’ll start a petition to bring back the bubble dress, and I won’t sleep until I’ve successfully canvassed each and every stop of the artRave: The ARTPOP Ball Tour.

In case you thought there was still drama between Beyonce and her lil sis Solange following the now-infamous Jay Z elevator attack, Beyonce wants you to be sure there is no doubt all is forgiven.

The elder Knowles sister took to her Instagram late Saturday night (May 17) and posted a photo revealing Beyonce with her arm planted firmly around her baby sister, both grinning gorgeous smiles (they woke up like that). And so you don’t confuse it with her recent run of throwback posts, Beyonce even captioned the photo “New Orleans May 17th 2014″.

Of course, conspiracy theorists could claim that the photo could just be another throwback photo and Beyonce’s just saying it’s from today, but those conspiracy theorists are the same people who claimed Solange deleted all her Instagram photos of Beyonce, or, better yet, that Pitbull is somehow connected the disappearance of Malaysia flight MH370 (seriously!?).

Always the elegant diplomat, Beyonce’s probably just finding the classiest (and social media-est) way possible of saying “get over it.”

Nicki Minaj loves the big stage, and on Saturday (May 17), the reigning rap queen will perform at Power 106′s Powerhouse concert at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.

Minaj won’t be alone; the all-star lineup also includes Jennifer Lopez, Schoolboy Q, Wiz Khalifa, YG, Childish Gambino, Trey Songz, Juicy J and Sage the Gemini. If fans weren’t excited already, Nicki stirred the pot when she began taking requests on Twitter on Friday.

She asked her faithful flock what they would like to hear at the concert, but the Barbz quickly focused their attention on the new single that Nicki promised to us exactly two weeks ago in “Yasss Bitch”.

Will Ms. Minaj debut the song tonight? She won’t say, but you could bet we’ll be tuning in, just in case.

Wiz Khalifa rocked the stage at the 2014 Hangout Festival on Friday night (and revealed some big mixtape news), with his lovely lady Amber Rose right there to support him. They were, hands down, the most talked about couple in Gulf Shores, Alabama, this weekend and it’s pretty easy to see why.

After watching his performance from the stage (where he stole some kisses mid-set), they had this romantic snuggle session on the beach

Beyonce has a saying about marriage, and I believe it goes something along the lines of “If you liked it then you should’ve put a ring on it.” Well, ladies, Vine star, supermarket swimmer, and tank-top enthusiast Logan Paul took that to heart (which is wise since you definitely don’t want The Beygency on your ass) down here at the Hangout Fest in Alabama, where he’s been making Vines for MTV and getting himself hitched to a lucky lady… whom he met, like, five minutes before taking her to a little beach chapel and making her Mrs. Logan Paul forever-ever.

Apparently Waka Flocka Flame is seriously in need of adventures, and somehow Girl Talk became the guy who wants to show him the world.

Just days after taking the stage at Hangout Festival, the DJ posted a photo of himself and Flocka, fresh off a skydiving expedition, and it’s hard to say which one of them looked more thrilled.

Okay, fine — Waka definitely looked the most excited.

The Atlanta rapper shared a photo of himself in the sky, with the caption, “Just sky dived,” while Girl Talk’s photo simply shows them basking in the aftermath.

The best part though? This was just their first adventure for the day. According to Girl Talk’s caption, their next stop was a driving range.

The two artists have been spending a decent amount of time together, since Waka contributed to Girl Talk and Freeway’s collaborative EP Broken Ankles. He appeared on the track “Tolerated,” which had a pretty ridiculous video to accompany it.

Their leisure time sessions have also included Waka schooling Girl Talk on the NBA.

When it comes to Hangout Fest, the one thing you have to keep in mind is that it’s the effort that counts. And while Tegan and Sara killed it onstage, when it came to our paddle ball challenge, they weren’t so hot.

The twins took on Hangout, playing songs from their Heartthrob album (and throwing a few old jams in there). In leather jackets and skinny jeans, they applauded the festival-goers in bikinis and joked they had some on underneath their rock ‘n’ roll clothes.

While the duo seemed right at home onstage, they tried out the beach for a little bit.

Who needs a bikini to enjoy the sun?

Watch Tegan and Sara attempt to play paddle ball and have a little chuckle with our favorite indie pop queens. It’s OK, guys … it was windy.
