Lil Wayne‘s Tha Carter V season has officially begun. After using a couple of the world’s biggest athletes to help tease his upcoming LP, Weezy partners with Drake to release “Believe Me,” the first single off of Tunechi’s much-anticpated album.

The slow-rolling and pulsating track, which was produced by Boi-1da and Vinylz, hit the Internet early Saturday morning (May 3).

You Need To Watch The Toronto Symphony Orchestra’s Drake Medley

by 05/02/14

Drake often pays homage to his native Toronto, and the city shows him love back. That relationship is particularly affectionate during this NBA season, as Drizzy has closely aligned himself with the Toronto Raptors. From introducing players before a game earlier this year, to helping forward Terrance Ross during the Slam Dunk contest, to sitting courtside with his lint roller during the current playoff run, the rapper has been putting on for the squad.

Earlier this week, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra paid those respects right back. In a video titled “Go Raptors,” seven of the orchestra members, all donning red Raptors gear, create syphonic renditions of Drizzy’s “All Me” and “Trophies.”

This is barely over one minute, and it needs to be at least 10.

Infographic: What To Pack For Lady Gaga’s ‘ARTPOP’ Tour

by 05/02/14 lady gaga

Much like Lady Gaga‘s whole ARTPOP concept itself, the “G.U.Y.” singer’s upcoming artRave: The ARTPOP Ball Tour could mean ANYTHING.

When it all kicks off in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on Sunday, will we see anything from my list of artRave demands? Will there be body fluids flying because #performanceart? What about Volantis? Will Gaga’s famed flying dress gain sentience, lock herself in a dressing room, and swear she won’t come out until each individual in the audience tells her she looks great tonight? WHO CAN SAY.

Still, there are a couple of must-have items that all of us here at MTV feel would serve any concert-goer well the night of the show.

lady gaga

I mean, with “rave” in the tour’s title, you definitely couldn’t go wrong with some candy bracelets and pacifiers. (Bejeweled, even?) Plus no Gaga lewk would be complete without some gravity-defying platforms. Practically speaking, a rain poncho might be a good thing to pack if you’re planning to be near the front of the stage. Remember Gaga’s SXSW performance? Just sayin’.

But, if all else fails, just bring a Ziploc of loose glitter, and you’ll be fine.

Michael Jackson’s XSCAPE Came From A ‘Tap On The Shoulder’

by 05/02/14

A day after Usher helped debut “Love Never Felt So Good,” a never-before-heard Michael Jackson track off the upcoming album XSCAPE, we’re finding out more information about what else is in store for the May 13 project.

“Michael Jackson was the perfect artist who spoke to all of us,” L.A. Reid said in a video released on Jackson’s official VEVO channel. “He tapped us on the shoulder and said, ‘Would you just do me one small favor, and remind people that I’m the greatest?’ ”

Reid, who is the Chairman and CEO of Epic Records, which will be releasing the album, put together a team to try to do just that.

“The project started with a conversation that I had with [Co-Executor of the Michael Jackson Estate] John Branca,” Reid explained. He just asked a simple question. “How about you let me hear everything that’s been recorded, everything on tape, whether it’s an entire song, or a fragment of a song?”

The music industry vet then assembled a squad of revered talents to help put the album together.

“I felt like I had to dig into a place deeper than just music,” explained Timbaland, who is serving as an executive producer on the project.

Rodney Jerkins felt similarly out of the gate. “It wasn’t that I didn’t trust L.A., it’s just that I worked with Michael before, and I know what his expectations were,” the producer/songwriter admitted. “Once L.A. played me the music, I was all the way in. I was like, Oh, yeah. This ...

Future And Detail Get Raunchy With ‘Moscato’: Listen

by 05/02/14

Future and Detail seem to have put any past issues behind them.

On Thursday, “Moscato,” the latest collaboration from the rapper and producer, hit the Net. It comes just a week after Future told MTV News that the two had a minor falling out over Beyonce’s “Drunk in Love,” which was produced by Detail. Future contributed some of the melody, but wasn’t given credit.

“It didn’t affect our relationship right now, [but] it was on my mind a lot at the time,” Future said, though he said he no longer harbors any hard feelings. “I moved on from it, because I understand the bigger picture. We make too much great music together.”

They got back to doing just that with “Moscato,” which is produced by Detail and Key Wane and features vocals from both Detail and Future.

“Red wine in the creases of your nipples,” Future croons early on, setting the tone for the sexually-explicit cut. The beat remains woozy and subtle throughout, serving up a slow tempo for the artists to wax raunchy.

This wasn’t Future and Detail’s first collaboration and, despite tension that “Drunk in Love” caused, it probably won’t be their last.

11 Life Lessons ABC’s TGIF Taught Us

by 05/02/14

ABC’s TGIF was a Friday night staple in the ’90s. Laughs were shared, bonds were formed, kids were allowed to stayed up late, and most of all, we learned some valuable life lessons. We came of age with DJ and Stephanie, experienced the unbreakable bond of friendship with Cory and Shawn, and prepared ourselves for the awkward ups and downs of being a teenager.

1. “Full House” taught us that being a middle child is tough, but Uncle Jesse reminds us that sometimes, like in an Oreo cookie or bologna sandwich, the middle is the best part.

2. Steve Urkel served up a weekly reminder that although someone is different, you should still treat them with respect.

3. “Step By Step” saved our parents from the dreaded “birds and the bees” talk when they taught us all about the “wild monkey dance,” and why you might want to save yourself for true love. The Code-Man knows all.

4. “Boy Meets World” taught us to believe in ourselves, and eff the noise. Tell ‘em how it is Mr. Feeny.

5. Shawn and Cory schooled us on how to be a loyal friend.

6. “Full House” taught us how to cope with the death of a loved one when Papouli passed on. It’s OK to cry.

7. “Sabrina The Teenage Witch” pretty much taught us to accept who you are, even if you’re a confused coming-of-age ...

The ‘Amazing Spider-Man 2′ Scene Andrew Garfield Doesn’t Want To Think About

by 05/02/14

With reporting by Josh Horowitz.

When Andrew Garfield, who shoots his web out for a second go-round as Peter Parker in “The Amazing Spider-Man 2″ this weekend, had to shoot the finale of the movie, he didn’t even want to think about it, he told MTV News.

Death scenes are always hard to shoot, but we can imagine that for Garfield, it was an especially difficult process filming the scene depicting the death of Gwen Stacy, played by Garfield’s real-life girlfriend, Emma Stone.

‘It was horrible,” Garfield said of that portion of the shoot. “Absolutely horrid. I don’t want to think about it. It’s the worst. Your body doesn’t know it’s not real.”

Stone, for her part, told us that she was “morbidly looking forward to it.”

Watch the clip above to hear more from Stone and Garfield about shooting the tragic scene.

“The Amazing Spider-Man 2″ is in theaters now.

Find Out What Jay Z Told Troy Ave In A Text

by 05/02/14

Troy Ave has made quite the name for himself. With his independent hustle the Brooklyn rap rookie has turned heads and earned props from some serious hip-hop heavyweights.

50 Cent, for one, says he’s betting on Troy Ave to win.

“Troy Ave is going to be one of those guys that i hope goes to the top,” Fif said during an interview with NYC DJ Funkmaster Flex on Wednesday.

Ave loves the encouragement. “I think it’s dope. He was on Funk Master Flex the other night and he was talking about how he wants Troy Ave to win and things of that nature,” Troy told MTV News on Thursday when we visited the set of his upcoming “Your Style” video in New Jersey.

“I think it’s ill when you got somebody like 50, speaking about you in a dope manner, as far as, ‘Yo, I like what he’s doing’,” he continued.

Ave’s 2013 breakout single “Show Me Love” borrowed elements from 50 Cent’s 2003 classic “In da Club” and features G-Unit’s Tony Yayo, while his current single, “Your Style,” features Lloyd Banks. Now, he has New York’s top rap representatives rooting for him.

“I met Nas the other night and he said, ‘Yo, you ill, I love what you’re doing for the city,’” Ave shared. “Jay Z hitting my phone, texting me, like ‘Son, you keep doing your thing, you’re representing for the town.’”

With all of the recent co-signs, the BK spitter says that 50′s stamp means the most to him.

“I think ...

Austin Mahone Wrote His Next Single In The Bathroom

by 05/02/14

Reporting by James Lacsina

I guess Austin Mahone just gets inspired in his bathroom. Hey, I’m not judging.

The Secret singer admitted to MTV News on Thursday night that that’s where he wrote his next single, “All I Ever Need.”

“I like to write songs with my friend Robert. I was weird; we wrote it in my bathroom for some reason,” Mahone said on the iHeartRadio Awards red carpet. “I mean, it’s a pretty random place to write a song, but I know my fans are gonna love it, so check it out.”

Well, at least he admits it’s kind of weird. But this isn’t the first time he’s gotten creative in the bathroom. Remember this One Direction cover?

“All I Ever Need” follows “MMM Yeah” as the second single off the May 27 EP, and this one is extra special, he said.

“I’ve never put out a song I wrote and produced myself, so it should be fun to watch,” Austin said excitedly.

As for a video? Mahone hasn’t thought that much about it, but did have one thing in mind.

“I’ve been thinking of a treatment, I can’t really think, maybe a nice video on the beach would be cool? I live in Miami so that would be nice,” he said.

Austin will be spilling more secrets during “100 Things About Austin Mahone,” an all-day affair on Saturday from 10 a.m to 8 p.m. Tune in to learn 100 things that every Mahomie should know.
