Behind The Scenes: Witness The ‘Game Of Thrones’ Dragon Egg Get Forged In Fire

by 05/04/14

Making the Dragon’s Egg from Game of Thrones from Rextorn Metalwork on Vimeo.

Lately in “Game of Thrones,” we haven’t been seeing much of Daenerys Targaryen’s dragons as the warrior-queen travels from city to city, freeing slaves and standing dramatically in the wind as her hair whips back and forth.

So lest you forget she is — in addition to being a badass deliverer of lines like “I will answer injustice with justice” — the Mother of Dragons, check out this video showing how the dragon eggs from Season One were actually created.

The Rextorn Metalwork workshop posted the video a few months ago. The egg was made using the techniques of repousse, chasing and metal spinning, whatever the hell that means. But you don’t need to have a PhD in metallurgy to sit back and watch the fiery creation of one of the show’s most iconic props.

‘Game Of Thrones’: 7 Predictions For Tonight’s Episode, ‘First Of His Name’

by 05/04/14

After the Purple Wedding, and the bombshell White Walker reveal last week, it looks like season four of “Game of Thrones” is nowhere near finished making its big, epic moves.

Indeed, tonight’s episode, titled “First of His Name,” is all about making moves — be it in King’s Landing, where Tyrion Lannister stands accused of killing the king; in the far north, as Jon marches toward Craster’s Keep, where Bran is being held captive by deserters of the Night’s Watch; or in the far east, where Daenerys reigns as queen of Meereen.

Here are our predictions for who will make moves on tonight’s episode.

1. Daenerys Will Make Moves
She sacked Meereen. She hung up the Targaryen flag. She’s conquered Slaver’s Bay. Now what? Now more than ever, Dany is poised to make her great Westerosi comeback — and based on the preview, it sure looks like she’s finally ready to sail home toward her birthright.

2. Cersei Will Make Moves
Last week, Margaery paid a midnight visit to the new king, Tommen Baratheon. This week, her moves aren’t going unnoticed, as Queen Regent Cersei has her eye on the pride of Tyrell. Who will win the battle of the Lion and the Rose? And just what the heck is Cersei doing palling around with Oberyn Martell, anyway?

3. Littlefinger Will Make Moves
After saving Sansa and informing her of his role in the death of Joffrey, Lord Petyr Baelish has seemingly laid all of his cards ...

Miley Cyrus Is Back, Maf–ka

by 05/04/14

After battling bouts of sickness recently, Miley Cyrus is back.

Or, in her words, “#imbackmaf–ka.”

That’s exactly what Miley announced in a series of posts on Instagram on Sunday (May 3). There were some stills, with Miley eyeing the camera and looking to be in good spirits, but what really marked her return was an Insta video where she couch-jumped and twerked her way through Lil Jon’s “Turn Down For What.”

She was first hospitalized on April 15 with a “severe allergic reaction” to Cephalexin, and had been fighting her way back since then. She’s had to postpone shows in the time since, but is now ready to resume her Bangerz Tour in London on May 6.

These Concept Designs For Rhino In ‘Amazing Spider-Man 2′ Are Cool As Hell

by 05/04/14

Now that “The Amazing Spider-Man 2″ has unleashed its web-shooters in theaters and we’ve gotten a chance to check out Paul Giamatti’s maniacal, metal-suited take on Rhino, we’re getting a look at how the villain himself was created.

On his personal website, concept designer Robert O. Simons has posted art he created along with “Spider-Man” director Marc Webb and production designer Mark Friedberg. The photos are beautiful and an amazing peek into how your cinematic superhero sausage gets made.

As Simons writes, “These were the original early concepts for Rhino in the film before we locked down the direction we wanted to go into. Originally we played around the idea of Rhino wearing a suit more so than a mech. As you will see below we wound up going with a mech.”

The close-ups of Rhino’s helmet are doooooope. “After working on the suit one of the concepts had a Helmet design so I started to do more detailed studies of the helmet like the graphics and material make up for it,” Simons writes. “In the end the Helmet was cut from the film so we did not get to far in this design but i still think there is something interesting about them.”

You can check out the rest of the designs over at his site and follow him on Twitter.

Comedian-In-Chief Barack Obama Owned The White House Correspondents’ Dinner

by 05/04/14

President Barack Obama has for years been praised as a great orator, and on Saturday night, he proved yet again that those skills serve him just as well when doing stand up comedy as they do during political speeches.

Obama took the podium during the annual White House Correspondents’ dinner, where he delivered wise-cracks aimed at himself, CNN, FOX, Republicans, and plenty more. Like in years past, the President appeared incredibly comfortable in the role of funnyman.

Joel McHale closed the evening, sending lighthearted jabs at everyone from Obama to Chris Christie to Justin Bieber.

Maybe the funnest part of the evening, though, was when Vice President Joe Biden teamed up with Julia Louis-Dreyfus for a seven-minute pre-taped sketch. The two VPs ‒ one for real, the other on HBO ‒ raised hell: breaking into the Oval Office, sneaking ice cream, writing newspaper headlines about themselves, getting tatted with Nancy Pelosi. And it was amazing.

As usual, there were plenty of celebs in the house for the annual event, too.

The First Full ‘Star Wars Rebel’ Trailer Wants You To Ignite The Rebellion

by 05/04/14

Back in late 2012, Disney bought Lucasfilms for an astounding $4 billion, and the first major release since that mega deal is inching closer and closer.

On Sunday (May 4), the first full trailer for “Star Wars Rebels” was released online. The quick one-minute spot gives us a bit of a better idea of what to expect from the upcoming series, building on some teasers that were released in February.

The CGI animated show is set between “Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith” and “Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope,” and counts Freddie Prinze, Jr. among its voice actors.

Hopefully the trailer can tide you over for a bit, because we’re still going to need to wait a little while until we get the full series. “Rebels” is set to launch this fall with a one-hour special on Disney Channel, before the series premieres on Disney XD.

It’s no coincidence, of course, that the trailer dropped today. May The Fourth Be With You.

Here Are Floyd Mayweather’s New BFFs Justin Bieber And Lil Wayne Walking Him To The Ring Last Night

by 05/04/14

Every champ needs a theme song, and on Saturday night, Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s became “Believe Me.”

Prior to his bout with Marcos Maidana, Money May was joined on his walk to the ring by Lil Wayne and Justin Bieber. The nearly three-minute stroll included Weezy’s new Drake-assisted track, “Believe Me,” booming through the MGM Grand sound system, as Tunechi gave his first performance of the Tha Carter V single.

In addition to Wayne and Biebs, Mayweather’s entrance included a bunch of circus performers ‒ from jugglers to clowns.

The fellas seem to have forged a nice little bond, as this is the second fight in a row that the two music stars have joined Money during his entrance. Biebs also posted some flicks of the night on his Instagram.

Mayweather went on to defeat Maidana and improve his record to 46-0.

Every ‘Star Wars’ Movie And TV Show Ranked

by 05/04/14

On this May the Fourth, we celebrate 37 years of “Star Wars.”

Most of you reading this weren’t born when the first movie blew minds at cinemas around the world (disclaimer, I wasn’t). Heck, a lot of you might not have been old enough to see “Star Wars: The Phantom Menace” in theaters, and yes, that freaks me out.

“Star Wars” is a phenomenon like no other, having spawned a cross-platform universe that includes seven movies and seven TV spin-offs (including one ill-fated Holiday Special), and of course, the upcoming and recently castStar Wars: Episode VII.” What better way to celebrate this holiest of “Star Wars” days then by ranking every single one of them?

Here is our definitive list of the good, the bad and the ugly of the “Star Wars” franchise.

14) “The Star Wars Holiday Special” (1978)

You’ve probably heard the legend of this insane — and insanely bad — “Star Wars” spin-off that was meant to celebrate Earth Day or something. We don’t know; we’ve blocked it out of our minds. The problem with the Holiday Special is that it’s not even so bad it’s good — it’s just really, really bad. It’s like watching the most boring trainwreck of all time, except Bea Arthur is there for some reason. It’s no wonder George Lucas ordered this, this thing to never be shown again. Unfortunately for him, the Internet exists, and we can all bask in the special’s glorious awfulness.

13) “Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure” (1984)

It’s hard to ...
