Jennifer Lawrence’s Scream And 6 Other Things You Didn’t See At The Oscars

LOS ANGELES — Any red carpet that allows for Benedict Cumberbatch to photobomb U2 is alright by me. My Oscar night was a blast.

Don't get me wrong, you can enjoy the Academy Awards from every vantage point. Watch it from home and soak up every detail. If you're lucky enough to cover the red carpet like me it's a little bit different. You don't see everything, but what you do see and experience is pretty unique. It all goes by in a blur. Here are some moments still flashing through my brain.

1. There's no one we were more excited to see than Jennifer Lawrence who brings it each and every time. And by "it" I mean something crazy and awesome. It didn't take long this go round as she greeted me with some kind of Tarzan scream. Amazing.

2. The flash of sadness at seeing Pharrell was not wearing his crazy (awesome) hat gave way to relief that at least he had the good sense to wear shorts because, well someone had to and shorts probably suit him more than Martin Scorsese.

3. When Emma Watson came over for a chat, like any good big brother I, of course, chastised her for not being home studying (she's set to graduate from college in a few months). Emma apologized for not dancing this year, as her buddy Daniel Radcliffe did last year. Still, she was in great spirits thanks to just meeting the woman she says made her want to be an actress: Julia Roberts.

4. Lupita Nyong'o ...

‘Fifty Shade Of Grey’ Sequel: What’s The Status?

A quick word of advice, not that you asked for it: Don't use the words and "hands-on" in the same sentence unless you want to evoke some very specific images.

"Fifty Shades of Grey" producer Dana Brunetti did just that while speaking with MTV News on the 2014 Oscars red carpet, talking about what fans can anticipate about Universal and director Sam Taylor-Johnson's upcoming adaptation of the widely-worshipped E.L. James novel.

Brunetti was tight-lipped on details ("We just wrapped; we'll talk about it in a year from now," he said), but made it clear that fans can expect the saucy novel to experience a faithful translation to the big-screen.

"E.L. was there every day," he said of the author's participation in the movie. "She was very hands-on. To have the author there definitely makes it pretty faithful."

Based on the book phenomenon of the same name, "Fifty Shades" focuses on Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele, a young college student who encounters and begins a passionate (and, ah, interesting, to put it mildly) relationship with the enigmatic Christian Grey, played by Jamie Dornan. The movie doesn't arrive until a little less than a year from now, but fans are already curious about possible sequels, given that "Fifty Shades of Grey" is just the first installment of a trilogy.

"I have no idea," Brunetti said about development on a possible "Fifty Shades" sequel. "I have no idea yet. We haven't even started discussing that yet. We just want to get this one wrapped and get it cut. We'll see the cut, see ...

An Oscar And A Hug From Brad Pitt? Lupita Nyong’o Had The Best Night Ever

The Cinderella comparisons came before she even won her first Oscar — consider it her glass slipper, though we hope she didn't leave it on a stairway somewhere later in the evening.

Sure, last night's Independent Spirit Awards could have served as Nyong'o's Best Night Ever as it was her birthday and she took home the award for Best Supporting Female, but that didn't include dancing with a giant hat on live television.

Some nominees make fashion missteps on Oscar night. Not Nyong'o. Not tonight. Not on her Best Night Ever. Already one of awards season's most fashionable It Girls, the "12 Years a Slave" star wowed the Oscars red carpet with a stunning pale blue Prada gown, a plunging, utterly dreamy number that served as the perfect culmination of months of equally impressive sartorial choices.

Once in the Dolby Theatre, Nyong'o approached everything with her trademark style, including grooving with Best Song nominee Pharrell as he (and his now-trademark big hat) jammed to his "Happy" and hopping in host Ellen DeGeneres' record-breaking selfie.

When it was finally time for her to take the stage to accept her statue, it was only after she hugged her brother, Liza Minnelli, Brad Pitt and Chiwetel Ejiofor in quick succession.

Nyong'o didn't even need to make it to the stage to have one of the most memorable wins in recent history, but she did — Jennifer Lawrence, you can keep your adorable stumbles — where she gracefully accepted her Oscar with a moving and heartfelt speech, sharing with the audience, "It doesn't escape me ...

Arby’s Snatches Up Pharrell’s Hat: See How Much They Spent On It

Pharrell Williams had plenty to celebrate on Oscar night. In addition to a high-energy, candy-colored performance that rocked the house, he raised more than $44,000 for his educational nonprofit by selling off his famous giant brown Grammy hat
.

And not to worry, he had another one for his Oscars debut performance of hit single "Happy,"
an identical black Vivienne Westwood-designed lid to go with those formal shorts.

After putting the Grammy hat up for auction on eBay
last month, the winning bid was submitted by an unlikely party.

Completing the mini-meme about how Skateboard P's 10-gallon wonder looked a lot like their official logo, roast beef sandwich chain Arby's announced that it had snatched up the "Mountain" hat for $44,100.

"@Pharrell You're welcome," Arby's announced on Twitter. "We're HAPPY to support a great cause & get our hat back."

The proceeds will go to Pharrell's educational nonprofit From One Hand to Another.

Coldplay’s New Album Ghost Stories Coming In May

After sneaking a new song
out on us last week, Coldplay sprung another surprise on us Monday morning (March 3) with the reveal of the details on their upcoming sixth album.

The nine-track Ghost Stories is due out on May 19, with pre-orders available now on iTunes. After the ambush minimalist preview of the track "Midnight," they also announced that the album's official first single will be "Magic," which is available for download with pre-orders.

Not much is known about the follow-up to 2011's experimental Mylo Xyloto, but "Midnight" and "Magic" both hint that the group may have moved away from the radio-friendly anthems that have made them arena stars across the planet into a more introspective, quiet zone.

Set to a spare drum machine-like beat, warm, subtle keyboards and a throbbing bass, "Magic" features the lines, "Call it magic/Call it true/Call it magic when I'm with you."

The song follows a mostly midtempo path, with singer Chris Martin staying in a reflective, sing/talk pocket until climbing into his signature falsetto midway through, at which point echoey U2-like guitars bleed into the mix.

The full track listing for Ghost Stories: 1. "Always In My Head"

2. "Magic"

3. "Ink"

4. "True Love"

5. "Midnight"

6. "Another's Arms"

7. "Oceans"

8. "A Sky Full Of Stars"

9. "O"

A deluxe edition of the album with three bonus tracks will be available at Target. The band will headline the opening night of the first U.S. iTunes Festival at SXSW on March 11, with the performance streamed live and on-demand for free through the iTunes store.

The 13 Best Jokes Of The 2014 Oscars

The 2014 Oscars were pretty. But not, like, pretty, pretty. More of a "rugged, dirty pretty." Like Oscar-winner Matthew McConaughey; not like Oscar-winner Jared Leto, according to host Ellen DeGeneres, who provided the vast majority of the funnies during the three-plus hours of the show.

That's a long show, so Ellen did many of the hot-seat actors and filmmakers a solid and ordered some pizza — but then, left them with the bill. Good thing Pharrell was there to lend his hat to the cause of collecting to pay the poor, star-struck pizza guy.

Here are a few of the best jokes of the evening:

1. The Hunger Games
According to Ellen, the crowd in the Dolby Theatre reminded her of the kill-or-be-killed plot of the hit movie, saying, "It is the Hunger Games." Which, consequently, spurred her to ask the audience if they were hungry. She then proceeded to actually order pizza. The pizza guy showed up midway through the show, and hungry stars gobbled up the slices.

2. "It's so different."
Ellen hosted the Oscars seven years ago. Seven years ago, Meryl, Cate Blanchett, Judi Dench and Leonardo DiCaprio were all nominees. A little bit of deja-new for her this time around?

3. The Wine Captain
Ellen poked fun at all the nominees in her opening monologue, as Oscar hosts are wont to do. Her shout-out to newcomer Barkhad Abdi, who played the pirate leader in "Captain Phillips," got a round of laughs when she referred to the Somali actor as a "sommelier," and shouted, "Who's the wine captain now!"

4. The Impersonator
Academy Award-winner Liza Minnelli attended ...

Watch Jimmy Kimmel’s Oscars Special Make Movies Out Of YouTube Stars

What would the Oscars be without Jimmy Kimmel's annual post-awards special? Well, they would still be the Oscars, of course, but we would be robbed of several hilarious spoofs starring seemingly every A-list actor. In 2012, there was "Movie the Movie" with Antonio Banderas, Edward Norton, Josh Brolin and George Clooney. In 2013, there was with "Movie the Movie 2V" with Angelina Jolie, Rachel Weisz, Jessica Chastain and Samuel L. Jackson. This year, Kimmel looked to top his previous efforts by releasing a series of parodies — four, to be exact — each based on famous YouTube videos.

The first one, inspired by the "Charlie Bit My Finger" clip, was about a brotherly rivalry between famous actor siblings Chris and Liam Hemsworth. Co-starring Meryl Streep (with a British accent) as their mother and Tom Hanks as a mysterious monk (just go with it), the film follows the story of Chris and his attempt to get revenge on Liam after he bit him as a child. The name of the movie? "Bitman Begins," directed by Christopher Nolan.

Next up was Queen Latifah starring as Sweet Brown in "Sweet Brown: Ain't Nobody Got Time for That." Latifah stars as Brown, a woman who unintentionally changes the trajectory of history by inspiring Barack Obama (played by Barkhad Abdi) to run for president and Steve Jobs (played by future "Star Wars" villain Adam Driver) to name his company Apple. Basically, it was "Forrest Gump" for 2014 with the "ain't nobody got time for that" lady. Favorite Jimmy Kimmel punching bag Matt Damon ...
