How do you close out a show that will already feature performances from Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Daft Punk with Stevie Wonder and Pharrell, Taylor Swift Lorde, Robin Thicke, Kendrick Lamar with Imagine Dragons, Pink Metallica and former Beatles Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, among others?
Oh, and, reportedly, Jay Z and Beyoncé?
Cap it with all all-star rock jam headlined by 13-time Grammy winner and Foo Fighters leader Dave Grohl, who will be joined by Queens of the Stone Age, Nine Inch Nails and Fleetwood Mac legend Lindsey Buckingham. The connective tissue between all the acts is that they appeared in Grohl’s 2013 directorial debut documentary, “Sound City: Real to Reel.” And, well, they totally rock.
“We’re incredibly excited about this number,” Grammy producer Ken Ehrlich said in a statement. “There’s nothing better than when the Grammys can rock out, and to have these artists all together on one stage, doing a number that, when they presented it to us, knocked us out, is going to turn out to be one of those Grammy moments that people talk about for a long time.”
There’s no word yet on what the supergroup will perform in the Grammy telecast debut from NIN and Queens. All (with the exception of Buckingham) are also nominated for Grammys this year, with Queens considered by many to be the front-runners in the Best Rock Album category. Also added to the performance-heavy roster for the show were Hunter Hayes and blues guitarist Gary Clark Jr. Among the announced presenters are: Ariana Grande, Alicia Keys, Bruno Mars, Miguel, Anna Faris, Jamie Foxx, Neil Patrick Harris, Jared Leto, Ryan Seacrest and Steven Tyler.
The 56th Annual Grammy Awards will go live on CBS on Sunday at 8 p.m. ET/PT. The show will take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
