Hit-Boy And Audio Push Respond To G-Unit Remix Of ‘Grindin’ My Whole Life’

G-Unit created major waves on Monday night when they released “Nah I’m Talkin’ Bout,” their first collaboration in years. In addition to the novelty of hearing 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks, Young Buck and Tony Yayo on a record together again, the inherent energy of the song and it’s beat played a part in the excitement, too.

That beat, produced by Hit-Boy, was originally used on “Grindin’ My Whole Life.” The song was included on Hit and his HS87 squad’s We The Plug, which dropped last week. But they weren’t even aware that Fif and the Unit were hopping on their joint.

“We really just seen that on the ride over to this office here,” Hit-Boy told MTV News on Monday, just hours before the song dropped. “50, it sounded like he was gassin’ it, so I’m excited. We really just appreciative to be in the game, man. We been working for a long time. ‘Grindin’ My Whole Life’ ain’t just a song. We really been trying to get to it for a long time, so for people to be taking notice is a blessing.”

Audio Push
, who are also in HS87 and on the original track, were similarly enthused. “50, he’s still a rapper; he’s still hip-hop,” said Price, one half of the duo. “If he hears somethin’ he like, he probably just rapping on it, you feel me. Which is hard.”

This won’t be the last remix from the 18-track project We The Plug, which showcases numerous artists on the team and also includes features from Kid Cudi and Nipsey Hussle.

“I wanna do a bunch of remixes, actually,” Hit said. “I wanna have fun with it, and change the beat up, and really just take it back to the essence like back in the day. People like Jermaine Dupri, he was killing them remixes. He was changing the beat up, changing the flows up, and that’s what we gonna do. We gonna show ‘em that we ain’t one dimensional, man. We out here making music.”
