Jeezy Asks ‘What The F–k Is Def Jam?’ On New Single: Listen

Need someone to feed the streets? That’s Jeezy, OK?

On Friday (May 9), the Atlanta rapper dropped new solo music for the first time in months, with the release of “Me OK.” The track, produced by Drumma Boy, is a vintage Jeezy record in its’ sound and style. Many of the rhymes find the 36-year-old in his prime trap-rap-slinging form, but he also serves up some words about his current label situation.

“When L.A. Reid was in office made some history up in Def Jam/ If Jizzle ain’t droppin, n—a, what the f–k is Def Jam?/ I know you heard how your boy bossed up at Atlantic/ Boss sh–, might just drop my next album on Atlantic,” he raps in the song’s second verse.

Including his 2005 debut, Jeezy has dropped four albums on Def Jam, which remains his current label home (his most recent was TM:103 Hustlerz Ambition in 2011). But in 2012, he was appointed Senior Vice President of A&R at Atlantic Records.

There’s no word on when we can expect Jeezy’s new album, but this song might be the beginning of that rollout.
