Brian Williams Loves It When His Newscasts Turn Into Raps

by 18 mins ago

Jimmy Fallon has come up with plenty of hilarious bits on “The Tonight Show,” but few rival Brian Williams rapping classic hip-hop hits. Thanks to some impressive editing, the show has given us the “Nightly News” anchor rapping favorites like “Gin and Juice,” “Rapper’s Delight” and “Baby Got Back.” And Williams admits that he loves them just as much as the Internet does (which is a lot).

“They’ve been amazing,” the broadcast veteran said during a recent Q&A on Facebook. “Never before have so many words been re-purposed so outside their original meaning. We have interviewed the profoundly talented video editor and will put it on the web before long.”

Williams also weighed in on one of rap’s great debates: Biggie vs. 2Pac.

“I don’t want to stir up trouble with Big’s existing crew,” he said, “but The Pac has been my guy.”

He likes him so much, he’s even given him his own nickname. And this, from an East Coast guy, no less.

Gay Marriage Is Now Legal In Most Of The Country Because The Supreme Court Did Nothing

by 25 mins ago

Gay marriage supporters have had a lot to cheer over the past two years thanks to a series of landmark rulings that have paved the way for marriage equality in an ever-increasing number of states. But on Monday morning (October 6), it was something the Supreme court didn’t do that will make same-sex marriage the law in the majority of the country.

At the start of the new Supreme Court term, the justices announced that they had rejected appeals from five states that were seeking to prohibit same-sex marriages (Indiana, Oklahoma, Utah, Virginia and Wisconsin), which basically means that gay marriage will become the law effective immediately. According to the Associated Press, the justices did not comment on why they were denying the appeals.

But their decison not to hear the case caught many by surprise. In addition to ending delays in those five states mentioned above, it also paves the way for couples in six other states: North Carolina, South Carolina, West Virginia, Colorado, Kansas and Wyoming, because lower court judges in those states must now go along with the appeals court rulings. It’s now up to the courts in those 11 states to lift a hold on their rulings, which means that weddings could start taking place soon. At press time, though, there wasn’t a firm timetable on when that process would start, or how long it might take.

Which ‘Buffy’ Star Will Be Bringing The Snark (But No Stake) To ‘Faking It’?

by 6 mins ago

Liam Booker may be Hester High School’s artistic wunderkind, but he’s about to meet his match…straight from Sunnydale!

Nicholas Brendon, who played the loyal, quippy Xander Harris on “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” is slated to join “Faking It” for the show’s Season 2 finale, according to The Hollywood Reporter. And his character will push Liam to the limits.

BrendonRichie Buxo/Splash News

Brendon will play Jackson Lee, a Hester High graduate and professional artist in search of a student who’s worthy of a fellowship. Naturally, Liam will be a contender, but not before Jackson puts him through the wringer and forces him to think differently about his craft.

Jackson will become the golden child’s unlikely mentor, but will he approve of Liam’s most recent piece — a heart that serves as a pincushion for sharp spears? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

Why Are James Franco And Seth Rogen Naked On Instagram?

by 10 mins ago

James Franco and Seth Rogen do pretty much everything together: they make hit movies; they make incredible Kanye West parodies; and, of course, they get naked together.

The two superstar buds showed off their comfort with their birthday suits in three pictures that Franco posted on his Instagram, and they’re… well, they’re something else.

Why did they post these pictures? Most likely, they’re promotional photos for Rogen and Franco’s newest comedy “The Interview,” about the pair trying to assassinate Kim Jong-un. Or, based on Franco’s captions, like “See if me and seth can make it, NAKED and AFRAID!!!! Wtf?! You’ll see……..,” they’re teasing an all-star episode of Discovery’s series “Naked and Afraid,” which would be the best thing ever. But until we find out, at least we have these three works of art to keep us occupied.

Unleash Your Inner Khaleesi With A Dothraki Language Course

by 31 mins ago

If you’ve been looking for just the right words with which to woo the great Khal in your life, then look no further than the latest, greatest product to emerge from the “Game of Thrones” universe: a living language course in conversational Dothraki.

The course, created by David Peterson, is a completely legit language program, complete with a learning CD and a handy dictionary — y’know, for when you’re on the road in the land of the horse lords, where wifi service can be spotty.

Aspiring Dothraki speakers can immerse themselves in lessons to learn vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and conjugation, as well as some important cultural mores so as not to inadvertently offend one’s Dothraki hosts. (Pro tip: Don’t offer the Khal a haircut.) And because we at MTV News would never endorse a product without trying it, we’ve used our newfound talent for Dothraki to put together a useful sample conversation for you to try yourself.

M’ath! Hash yer dothrae chek?
Hi! How are you?

Ariana Grande And The Weeknd Get Dark On ‘Love Me Harder’ Video Shoot: See The Pics

by 4 mins ago

Ariana Grande is feeling a bit dark, mysterious and a little cat-ty.

The singer gave her Arianators a sneak peek at the upcoming “Love Me Harder” video, featuring The Weeknd, and in it, she is rocking those black cat ears that she just can’t seem to get enough of.

Wearing a leather skirt and crop top, similar to what she wore for their “Saturday Night Live” performance, Ariana joins The Weeknd in a dimly lit underground stairwell to sing the super catchy song, the third single off her album, My Everything.

The video, reportedly directed by Hannah Lux Davis (who also got behind the camera for “Bang Bang”), is coming soon, according to the upcoming MTV EMA performer.

In another shot, Ariana traded her leather for lace as she sits on a chair, her hair down and flowing as the light illuminates her from behind. I don’t know about you, but I cannot wait to see what Ariana has in store for this video. Let the countdown begin!

This ‘Better Call Saul’ Theme Song Is For All You Walmart Thieves Out There

by 18 mins ago

There are a few things Saul Goodman is good at: hiding drug money, getting you the hell out of town when the heat is on and, as it turns out, bailing you out of a jam when you’re busted at Walmart for shoving a George Foreman grill down the back of your pants.

We know this now because AMC’s “Better Call Saul” now has an appropriately amazing theme song courtesy of country singer Junior Brown. The tune, co-written by “Saul” creators Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould and composer Dave Porter, features the classic chorus: “Saul, Saul, you better call Saul/ He’ll fight for your rights when your back’s to the wall/ Stick it the Man, Justice for all/ You better call Saul!”

“Better Call Saul” is scheduled to debut in early 2015.
