Is Chief Keef Taking A Shot At Bobby Shmurda On His New Song?

by 25 mins ago

Since Bobby Shmurda emerged this summer, many fans and critics have compared his sound and aesthetic to Chief Keef’s. And some of the comparisons certainly make sense — they’re both young, exude an aggressive energy and they’ve both shown the ability to make a catchy song. But on Keef’s latest release, it sounds like he may be taking a shot at the 20 year old and his crew.

“I still’ll come and rob you for your kilo/ And you know you ain’t catch no body ’bout a week ago,” the Chicago native raps on “Beetlejuice,” which dropped on Wednesday (September 24). The line is a flip on one of the more popular lyrics from Shmurda’s breakout, “Hot N—a,” where he raps: “Mitch caught a body ’bout a week ago, week ago.”

Earlier this month, 50 Cent said the Brooklyn-bred newbie reminded him of Keef. “It’s hard for me not to like it, because it reminds me of Chief Keef,” Fif said in an interview with Hot 97. “It feels like the Drill music that they made. It’s the same energy. It’s a New York version of it.”

Hopefully, Keef and Bobby can hash things out before this goes any further.

Even Golfers Are Doing The Shmoney Dance Now

by 19 mins ago

I wonder if Bobby Shmurda and co. ever imagined that the Shmoney Dance they created in the streets of Brooklyn would one day make its way onto a golf course. For some reason, I doubt it. But it has.

The U.S. Junior Ryder Cup team is competing against Europe this week, and after their 16-to-8 victory on Tuesday (September 23), it was Shmoney Dance time for the youngsters (to the sounds of Iggy Azalea and Rita Ora’s “Black Widow,” of course).

Another video, featuring team members Brad Dalke, Davis Riley and Sam Burns, calls it their “birdie dance” in the YouTube description and title.

The team must have been sinking a lot of birdies, because an announcer from the Golf Channel asked one of the players: “What did you invent in the past few days that has taken off with this team?”

A few players also changed the spelling on Twitter to #schmoney, but maybe that’s because the tournament was held in Scotland?

A number of athletes have already Shmoney Danced over the last few weeks, from Team U.S.A. after their FIBA victory to NFL players celebrating touchdowns.

We can probably expect more to come.

Asher Roth Completes RetroHash Journey With ‘Pull It’ Video

by 20 mins ago

Asher Roth has created a particular aesthetic with his recent RetroHash videos, with pulsating lights and colors guiding the way for visuals that have a bit of a nostalgic feel. With his latest clip, “Pull It,” which dropped on Wednesday (September 24), Ash continued the trend.

“‘Pull It’ is the third and final chapter in the ‘RetroHash’ journey,” the rapper wrote in the description of the video on YouTube. ‘Following ‘Parties at the Disco’ (escape) and ‘Last of the Flohicans’ (ego death), ‘Pull It’ represents the transformation.”

During the video, there are times when the Pennsylvania native gets up close with the camera, and others where things look a bit more murky and clouded. Throughout, though, you’ll be nodding your head, and afterwards, probably want to go check out the first two.

In case you missed it, here’s “Parties At The Disco” featuring ZZ Ward.

And here’s “Last Of The Flohicans” featuring Major Myjah.

Stream Jon Bellion’s New Album, The Definition

by 25 mins ago

Over the last few weeks, Jon Bellion has been dropping a stream of impressive videos, like “Simple And Sweet,” “Carry Your Throne” and “Luxury,” and on Tuesday (September 23), he finally released the project that those stunning clips have been building momentum for.

The Definition is his first release of the year, following 2013′s The Separation, and it was made available as a free download.

In addition to the previously released cuts, the 11-track album sees the up-and-comer displaying a dizzying array of talents: He wrote and produced all but one song and sings throughout — he even drops a few bars.

There are songs like “Human,” where Bellion tackles the sort of existential questions that he and many other 23 year olds — as well as people far older — continuously wrestle with. On top of that, there are cuts about relationships, like “Run Wild” and “Simple and Sweet,” and plenty more.

You can stream the project below, download it at his official site, and catch Jon Bellion on tour starting this October.

Watch 2 Chainz Eat The Most Expensive Burger In The World

by 13 mins ago

Anyone that’s followed 2 Chainz knows that he’s riding around and he’s getting it, and it’s his, so he spends it. But would he spend it on the most expensive burger in the world?

Tit took a trip with GQ to taste a $295 burger and find out. Made by chef Joe Calderone and served at New York City’s Serendipity 3, Le Burger Extravagant looks to be exactly what it’s billed to be.

There’s special Japanese beef, cheese that’s aged in a cave and wildly expensive caviar. Oh, and also 24 karat gold shavings on top of the bun.

And the Chainz verdict? “This burger was more than just food; it was an experience for me,” he said. “I’m gonna have to challenge my chef to order some things from a cave.”

According to Calderone, all the profits from the sales of the burger — which has to be ordered a day in advance so ingredients can be flown in to the restaurant — go to the Bowery Mission, which offers food and shelter to the city’s homeless.

If you liked watching 2 Chainz eat an expensive burger, then you can also watch him test $30,000 headphones and a $2 million car.

Drake Told Murda Mook They Could Have ‘The Biggest Battle In History’

by 24 mins ago

Drake and Murda Mook were at a club last month, when some friendly drinks turned into a challenge.

“It came out of nowhere,” Mook told MTV News on the BET Hip Hop Awards red green carpet. “A couple drinks start floating around, and then he just came out of nowhere and said he would battle me.”

It started off as some apparent tough talk from the Toronto MC: “‘Yo, if I did a battle,’” Mook said, recalling Drake’s words, “‘it’d probably be the biggest battle in history.’ That was his exact words.”

“I said, You serious?”

As it turns out, Drizzy very well might have been.

The guys quickly snapped a picture and shared it online, creating excitement and hype around the potential showdown. The two spoke a few days later, and Drake was “still kind of singing the same song.”

So, what would happen if this “biggest battle in history” goes down?

“He can rap really well,” Mook admitted. “I’m not saying he would win. [He'd have to practice] a lifetime, maybe. I don’t think there’s nobody in this world that can beat me.”

And Drake probably feels the same way. Hopefully they settle this standoff on the mic.

Chance The Rapper Didn’t Perform At AAHH! Fest, But He Did Give Fans A Surprise

by 11 mins ago

Over the weekend, Kanye West, Common and Lupe Fiasco performed at Chicago’s AAHH! Fest, and though he didn’t hit the stage, one of the Chi’s most buzzed-about up-and-comers, Chance the Rapper, made his presence felt.

“Yesterday I made a reluctant trip to Chicago to visit a friend,” a user named braindeadDRAMA wrote on Reddit. “Shortly after arriving I saw Chance tweet that he was in Chicago and was going to be giving away tickets to AAHH! Fest.”

“Hours went by and eventually I gave up hope until I was on my way to Target and saw him tweet location which I happened to be only 5 minutes from,” the user continued.

“I went to the address and when I got there it was only me and 2 others. The building was a music store/studio space but none of the workers had any info. After a few minutes of opening doors and sh-t someone said he was on the 5th floor so we raced up the stairs since the elevator wasn’t working.

“On the 5th floor we met his manager Pat who was super nice and had us come back downstairs and outside. After about 10 minutes Chance comes walking up out of nowhere with a stack of tickets and has people get in line. He handed out 50 tickets that he said he had purchased with his own money and was super cool to everyone who came out.”

And just like that, in only a few hours, a ...

What Are Apple’s Plans For Dr. Dre’s Beats Music?

by 15 mins ago

Nearly four months after buying Beats Music and Beats Electronics for $3 billion in May, Apple’s plans for the Dr. Dre-co-founded company’s future appear unclear.

News surfaced on Monday (September 22) that Apple was planning to shut down Beats Music, the streaming service launched earlier this year, according to TechCrunch. That report was quickly refuted by Apple, though, whose PR rep, Tom Neumayr, called the claims “not true.”

But now, a new theory has surfaced: that the Beats’ music-streaming service will ultimately be folded into iTunes.

“I’ve always known in my heart that Beats belonged with Apple,” Beats co-founder Jimmy Iovine said in a press release after the acquisition in May. “The idea when [Dr. Dre and I] started the company was inspired by Apple’s unmatched ability to marry culture and technology. Apple’s deep commitment to music fans, artists, songwriters and the music industry is something special.”

Whatever the case is, Apple sure must be happy they acquired Beats headphones, which haves sales figures in the hundreds of millions.

Watch This NBA Player’s Remix Of Bobby Shmurda’s ‘Hot N—a’

by 1 min ago

It’s been a busy few months for Lance Stephenson. First, in May, the 6’5″ guard helped lead the Indiana Pacers to the Eastern Conference Finals. Then, in July, he signed a $27 million contract with the Charlotte Hornets. And then on Monday (September 22), he dropped a video for his remix of Bobby Shmurda’s “Hot N—a.”

That sounds like the way a normal NBA player’s summer goes, right?

Well, maybe not exactly, but Lance isn’t your typical NBAer. Plus, he’s from Brooklyn, just like Bobby, so why not take a stab at the hit record?

The audio for the track dropped back in August, and the New York native followed that up with a video where he’s kicking it with his boys, throwing sneakers in the air like it’s Shmurda’s hat, and — in case the Hornets were worried — putting up some jumpers in the gym.

You may remember Lance from when Drake blew in his ear.
