Watch These Adorable Cats Try To Rap

by 6 mins ago

El-P has some kick-ass producers on tap for his next extremely ambitious project. Now, all he needs is talent. And that talent, guys, better be comprised of some pretty cool cats. Literally.

turntable-cat

Just the other week, El-P announced that he would be making the fevered cat lady in all of us’ dreams come true when he told us that the Kickstarter for Meow The Jewels, an all-kitty remix of the upcoming Run the Jewels 2, alongside Killer Mike, would become a reality. Now, he’s just looking for the right cats for the job, as you can see in the below audition video.

The idea for the Meow mix (get it?) came about when El-P and Killer Mike were doing promo for Run The Jewels 2, the follow-up to last year’s critically acclaimed Run The Jewels.

“I was sitting at a table and I was just joking around and I just decided, on the spur of the moment, to come up with a bunch of obviously completely ridiculous and joke pre-order options, one of which was, that for $40,000, we will remix the record using nothing but cat sounds and call it Meow the Jewels,” El-P told Entertainment Weekly.

Fans took that idea and ran with it, creating a Kickstarter that has raised nearly $60,000 for the project. El-P agreed to follow through on the absurd (and wonderful) promise, recruiting Run The Jewels 2 producers like Geoff Barrow, Just Blaze, Zola Jesus and Boots to work ...

Karl Lagerfeld’s Cat is Infinitely Cooler Than All of Us

by 24 mins ago

It’s one thing to realize you’ll never be as cool as Beyoncé, but it’s an entirely other thing to realize that you will be never cooler than a cat.

I’m not talking about a run-of-the-mill internet-famous cat. I’m talking about Karl Lagerfeld’s cat, Choupette.

Obviously, Choupette is inherently cool because she gets to call Karl Lagerfeld her owner but she is also ~hip~ in her own right: she has her own makeup line with Shu Umera, called Shupette, and even has her own Twitter and Instagram accounts.

We’ve known for a long time how cool Choupette is, but when you examine all the evidence together, we feel completely inadequate. Here are just a few examples of Choupette’s luxe lifestyle–we bow down.

She lands magazine covers

I will literally never be on any cover of anything in my lifetime. She’s been on multiple covers, including the cover of Vogue Germany, NBD.

She travels in style

Does she even know what “coach” is? It seems like definitely not.

She’s more famous than Grumpy Cat

Hello Kitty who?

She’s Wise

I won’t have this kind of wisdom until I’m old and wrinkly.

She dines like a queen

Wiz Khalifa’s ‘Stayin Out All Night’ Video Is A Choose Your Own Adventure

by 30 mins ago

Wiz Khalifa has released some party-themed videos before, but none like “Stayin Out All Night.”

That’s because it isn’t a video as much as it’s an adventure — a choose your own adventure, actually. And in this case, choose your own adventure means choose how you want to watch Wiz and actress Tia Carrere (of “Wayne’s World” fame) spend their night filled with debauchery. All visualized by Director X.

Which do you prefer: Wedding crashing, or getting wasted? What about getting tatted or trespassing? Stealing a cop car, or a rescue mission? And those aren’t the only options.

There are more than a few ways to experience the new visual for the Pittsburgh rapper’s Blacc Hollywood single, and they’re all equally fun and ridiculous.

Also, he takes a selfie with a gorilla, because no wild night is complete without one of those.

‘The Walking Dead’: 17 Times We Fell In Love With Daryl Dixon

by 2 mins ago

For a show about zombies, “The Walking Dead” doesn’t feature an overwhelming amount of zombie-killing action. Instead, its character-driven focus is what keeps fans coming back for more, and for no other character more so than Norman Reedus‘ Daryl Dixon.

Because it’s only a matter of time before a new death rumor surrounds everyone’s favorite crossbow-toting badass, we’ll need these moments to keep us warm for the bleak, zombie-filled season ahead.

1. That Time Daryl Ka-Thunked His First Crossbow Bolt

It was so many moons ago when we saw Daryl use his crossbow on a Walker for the first time, but he won our hearts immediately with an exasperated “Come on, people. What the hell?” before loosing a bolt into a stray Walker’s head after he caught it snacking on his felled dear. Bless.

2. That Time With The Cherokee Rose

We could not deal with this Daryl moment. After Sophia’s death, he gifted Carol with a Cherokee Rose and told her:

“It’s a Cherokee Rose. The story is that when American soldiers were moving Indians off their land on the Trail of Tears, the Cherokee mothers were grieving and crying so much ’cause they were losing their little ones along the way from exposure and disease and starvation. A lot of them ...

You Won’t Believe Why Elsa Isn’t Evil In ‘Frozen’

by 22 mins ago

By now, you’ve seen and loved Disney’s Best Animated Feature winner “Frozen,” you’ve watched all the parodies of “Let It Go,” and you’ve decided pretty definitively which of your friends are Annas and which are Elsas.

What you don’t know, however, is the touching real-life reason that Princess Elsa is how she is.

We know that Elsa (perfectly voices in the film by Idina Menzel) was originally meant to be a villain, shooting ice every which way in a frostily malicious manner. In a new Wired feature, it’s revealed exactly what inspired Elsa’s transformation from villain to the misunderstood, scared and defensive character who comes into her own during the film’s runtime.

John Lasseter, the head of Disney and Pixar, emphasized the need for extraordinary characters with ordinary struggles and problems in the studio’s films.

“The connection you make with your audience is an emotional connection,” Lasseter said. “The audience can’t be told to feel a certain way. They have to discover it themselves.”

Indeed, the emotional connection that Lasseter felt during the notes sessions while developing the story of “Frozen” came from inside his own family. The sweeping ice princess in the movie was in part inspired by Lasseter’s son, Sam. When he was 10 years old, Sam was diagnosed with Type I diabetes and was sad, feeling that he’d been singled out and chosen for this lifelong fate that he had no choice in.

Likewise, Elsa struggles with the ...

‘Gossip Girl’ Crossed Over With ‘The O.C.’ On ‘Gotham’ And It Was Amazing

by 26 mins ago

There’s the crossovers we were expecting to happen on FOX’s “Gotham” – including one with The CW’s “Arrow” that kind of, sort of happened – and then there’s the epic one that happened on last night’s (October 20) episode, “Viper,” when finally, “Gossip Girl” and “The O.C.” crossed over.

Seriously.

Okay, not so seriously. But “Gotham” stars Ben McKenzie, and despite the actor playing the city’s most heroic detective Jim Gordon, and having had many, many roles since, in our hearts McKenzie will always be Ryan Atwood from “The O.C.”

So imagine our surprise when last night’s “Gotham” featured a one-scene visit from Margaret Colin as a lawyer helping the Gotham City Police Department solve a case involving a deadly drug. The reason this is significant? Colin played Eleanor Waldorf, Blair Waldorf’s mother on “Gossip Girl.”

So, Ryan Atwood finally met Eleanor Waldorf. They had this whole conversation about the drug Viper, and what it was doing to Gotham City, and who caused it… And the whole time, we were just thinking, “Why are you not talking about this?”

2014 Tony Awards - ArrivalsMike Coppola/Getty Images for Tony Awards Productions

Look, we get that it would have made no logical sense in the context of the show, but how do you get Ryan and Eleanor sitting down together, and not have them at least hint at how Blair is now married to Seth Cohen IRL? Come on, it’s not rocket science.

So with that in mind, ...

Anna Todd Turned Her Love For One Direction Into A Full-Time Job

by 39 mins ago

If you’ve ever been mocked for being a super fan, you really only need two words to defend yourself from your haters: Anna Todd. An avid Directioner from Texas, Todd parlayed her love of One Direction into not only a six-figure book deal, but also an upcoming film via Paramount. “Not bad” seems an understatement.

Todd obviously didn’t score many a writer’s dream via staring at photos of Harry Styles and Co., however — although that was admittedly part of it. No, her success sprung from a serialized story called “After” that she penned almost obsessively on WattPad, an online fan fiction community — one that cast Harry as your average hard-to-resist bad boy, and a girl named Tessa as the one who tries (and fails) to resist him. A smash-hit success, the story scored Todd a three-book deal this past summer, the first installment of which drops Tuesday (October 21) — a.k.a. today. News of the film came just a few days ago.

We spoke with Todd in honor of her book birthday to get the rundown on how “After” took off, who she hopes will play Harry in the movie and whether One Direction has ever said anything about her extreme fan status.

MTV: So how did you start writing “After”?

Anna Todd: I was reading on WattPad for about five months before I started writing and the stories I was reading, both of them, weren’t updating so I didn’t know ...

Kansas City Radio Station Playing Lorde’s ‘Royals’ Every Hour Today, Because Baseball

by 43 mins ago

Forget about the whole baseball World Series game 1 thing that’s taking place in Kansas City on Tuesday night (October 21). The real battle is taking place on the airwaves of radio stations in Kansas City and San Francisco.

After a pair of Bay Area radio stations announced that they were banning Lorde‘s “Royals” from the airwaves during the duration of the Series — since, you know, it was inspired by a National Geographic picture of Royals’ great George Brett — a Kansas City station hit back on Monday.

“In response, Kansas City radio station, ’99.7 THE POINT,’ KOIT’s sister station, plan to pump ‘Royals’ into the highest rotation on the station, playing it on the hour, every hour, from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m., on opening night of the World Series , Tuesday, October 21, 2014,” The Point announced.

“I respect the work of Mr. Brian Figula, 96.5 KOIT Program Director, and his team of broadcast professionals at our sister stations in San Francisco, but we won’t let their anti-Royals spirit ruin this moment,” said Tony Lorino, The Point’s program director. “A few angry San Franciscans who don’t have a song called ‘Giants’ won’t rain on our parade.”

Often guilty, never convicted. Serving 15 years to life at MTV News.
