9 Back To School Gadgets To Make Your Roommate Jealous

by 17 mins ago

With the summer winding down and college starting up, there’s almost no time to actually pick up the stuff you need for school — you’ve gotta hang with old friends one last time (until Christmas, anyway) and then make a bunch of new friends. Whether you’re a freshman or midway through the five-year plan, these last-minute dorm room buys can make the year ahead a bit easier — and ensure your roommate owes you some solids after borrowing them.

1. Narrative Clip ($230)

Do you always forget (or feel too lazy) to take photos of awesome moments you want to capture? The Narrative Clip is a camera that fits onto your bag or shirt pocket and can take pictures automatically. The battery lasts a couple of days, and it comes with a three-month subscription to a service that stores and organizes the photos you take.

The Narrative Clip is perfect for anyone who wants to remember an event without the effort of remembering to take the pictures. At least you’ll no longer be “that guy” whipping out your phone at the party.

2. OGIO Ruck 20 Backpack ($55)

You need something to throw all your gear into that won’t make you look like you’re still in junior high school. The Ruck 20 holds its own when it comes to looks, and has enough room for your 15-inch laptop, phone, tablet, headphones and everything in between.

You’ve Gotta Crow Over This First Pic Of Allison Williams As Peter Pan

by 12 mins ago

A pixie wig, some leather wristbands, and one very green pair of spandex bike shorts are all it took to transform glamorous “Girls” star Allison Williams into the famous flying boy who won’t grow up. After news broke in July that Williams would play the title role in an NBC live performance of “Peter Pan,” this morning brought us our first peek at the actress as the daring Pan, perched on one of the masts of what must be Captain Hook’s pirate ship.

The photo debuted on Today this morning, simultaneously hitting the internet courtesy of the show’s Twitter account. Williams also reposted the shot on Instagram, where she nipped in the bud any rumors about her having lopped off her long locks for the role:

“Fun fact: I was all ready to cut my hair, then was told by the folks who actually know what they’re doing that a wig works better for everybody,” she wrote.

“Peter Pan” will air live December 4 on NBC.

Dang, There Was A Whole Lotta Skin At The GQ Men Of The Year Awards

by 5 mins ago

Chances are you weren’t invited to The GQ Men of the Year Awards last night, but hey, don’t stress! We’re here to give you the lowdown on all the biggest fashion moments from London’s coolest (and best-dressed) party. The biggest trend takeaway? A serious lack of fabric. Everyone from Cara Delevingne to Jessie J to Jourdan Dunn sported killer barely-there ensembles, which proved that this men’s awards show was definitely all about the ladies. (Sorry, boys.)

CARA DELEVINGNE

Cara arrived in a totally see-through black lace Burberry Prorsum number complete with high-waisted underwear, a gold belt, and, um, not much else. She finished the look with gold-rimmed eyes, burgundy lipstick and soft waves. Yowza.

KIM KARDASHIAN

Kim also went the sheer route in a custom Ralph & Russo crystal skirt worn over a black latex Atsuko Kudo bodysuit.

RITA ORA

Rita stunned in a silver Zuhair Murad number, which–even though it was partially sheer–couldn’t distract us from those gams.

JESSIE J

In a totally different type of daring ensemble, Jessie J opted for a vintage emerald green Jean Paul Gaultier gown that featured a super deep plunging neckline (it’s basically down to her belly button, people) and thigh-high (or is it waist?) slit.

Adam Levine’s Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson Impressions Are Insanely Good: Watch

by 12 mins ago

In addition to being a singer, songwriter, talent coach, yogi, and the man singlehandedly responsible for the most gif-able moment ever to happen on “American Horror Story,” it turns out that Adam Levine is also a gifted musical impersonator — a skill he showed off Tuesday (September 2) on “The Tonight Show” with Jimmy Fallon.

Levine was the first-ever participant in a new game created just for him, called Wheel of Musical Impressions. Using a spinning wheel to generate bizarre artist/song combinations, Fallon got his guest to do a spot-on impersonation of Frank Sinatra singing “Head Shoulders Knees and Toes,” followed by a second, equally terrific impersonation of Michael Jackson singing the “Sesame Street” theme song and of Eddie Vedder singing “The Muffin Man.” Not gonna lie, we are seriously impressed right now.

Gymnast McKayla Maroney Says She’s Underage In Hacked Photos

by 19 mins ago

A lawyer for gymnast McKayla Maroney says the nude images uploaded of the gold-medal-winning athlete were taken when she was underage. The pictures of Maroney were part of a massive leak of similar shots that included pics of Kate Upton, Jennifer Lawrence and Ariana Grande.

According to TMZ, a lawyer for Maroney, who turned 18 in December, has gotten a popular porn site to removed the leaked pictures after informing them that she was a minor when they were snapped. A different lawyer for the athlete has also reportedly gotten multiple other websites to take the pictures down by claiming that Maroney owns the copyright on the hacked images.

The action came despite claims by Maroney that the photos were fakes.

When the pics ended up on Reddit, moderators posted a warning. “The reddit.com site admins have let us know that McKayla Maroney was underage in the photos as well and that we need to remove them. If we don’t remove them, then this subreddit will most likely be banned (very quickly).”

Buzzfeed reported that photos of MTV’s “My Life as Liz” star Liz Lee, taken when she was 16, were also uploaded on the subreddit. “Liz Lee was not part of the leaks, but people have been posting her images anyways,” the Reddit statement noted. “Liz’s pictures were taken in 2007 ...

Ride On: Dax Shepard Is Going To Remake ‘CHiPs’

by 1 min ago

Holy “CHiPs.”

The California Highway Patrol’s finest are hitting the road once again in the form of an all-new “CHiPs” feature film, as put into motion by Warner Bros. Leading the charge: Dax Shepard, who WB has hired to write, direct and star in the film.

Deadline reports that Shepard will take on the role of Officer Jon Baker, played on the 1970s and 80s TV series by Larry Wilcox. Meanwhile, “End of Watch” and “Observe and Report” actor Michael Peña has been tapped to take on Erik Estrada’s iconic role, Officer Frank “Ponch” Poncherello. If there aren’t cameos planned for Wilcox and Estrada, then there truly is no justice in the world.

As for the movie itself, well, look. A lot of people balked at the idea of a “21 Jump Street” remake, and look how that turned out. It could be the same story for a “CHiPs” movie, as long as there’s a whole lot of this:

And maybe a cameo from the “Super Troopers” gang for good measure.

Likes pizza, punch and pie. Dislikes the Chitauri.

Can The Wilsons Forgive ‘Carter’ After Tonight’s Catastrophe?

by 7 mins ago

On tonight’s “Finding Carter,” the show’s titular character stole away into the night with the hope of leaving everything she knew behind her. But in a single second en route to California, she was forced to face the sobering fact that running away is much easier said than done.

Carter, who was wrongfully accused of stealing jewelry that belonged to Bird’s mother, found herself behind bars on last week’s episode, but Crash swooped in and bailed her out — and soon, the two hit the road to make a new life for themselves on the West Coast. Elizabeth was determined to reclaim her prodigal daughter, though, and used her clout in the police force to send out an amber alert.

Rather than give up the good fight, though, Carter, who presumed that her kidnapper/mother Lori caught wind of the signal, decided to capitalize on the notice and asked Crash to stop by the gas station to visit Max before the outlaws ditched town. Max had acted as the middleman between Lori and Carter before, and she was sure he’d be willing again. But when she arrived, Max only pleaded for her to stay; Crash became upset and soon followed her into the store.

Short on cash, Crash demanded that Max hand over the contents of the register — and flashed a gun to enforce the point that he was serious. He assured the worried Carter that the safety was on, but when he flicked his wrist ...

This College Student Will Carry A Mattress Around Campus Until Her Rapist Leaves School

by 12 mins ago

Columbia senior Emma Sulkowicz will carry her dorm-room mattress with her everywhere she goes “for as long as I attend the same school as my rapist,” she says.

The visual arts major is one of 23 students who have filed federal Title IX complaints against Columbia in April for mishandling sexual-assault cases. For her senior thesis — two years later — she’s using performance art to protest her attacker’s presence.

“The piece could potentially take a day, or it can go on until I graduate,” Sulkowicz said about “Carry That Weight” in a video by the Columbia Spectator.

Sulkowicz says she has been constantly haunted by her rape from her first day of sophomore year and humiliated that her alleged attacker is still on campus. She wrote in Time that he continues to lurk: “Last semester I was working in the dark room in the photography department. Though my rapist wasn’t in my class, he asked permission from his teacher to come and work in the dark room during my class time. I started crying and hyperventilating. As long as he’s on campus with me, he can continue to harass me.”

In that Time article, she explains that two other women connected with her and claimed they were raped by the same man. However, Columbia said they had to treat each case individually, so the women weren’t allowed to mention each other in their cases. Sulkowicz also said that she was not permitted to write her own ...

Smoke DZA And Prodigy Trade Bars In First ‘RapFest’ Cypher

by 2 hours ago

For their first in a series of cyphers, recently launched site RapFest linked Smoke DZA, Prodigy and Houston’s DeLorean to rhyme over a beat from up-and-comer AlistFame.

The three styles fit together surprisingly well over the dark, eery production, as each MC delivers their own brands of self-affirmation and aggressiveness.

Midway through the video, AlistFame speaks on how he created the beat, and what his vision for it was — and, spoiler alert, it sounds like it came to fruition.

Like this initial episode, future cyphers plan to pair lesser-known talent with some established names.
