Anike and Julian sure had a one-year anniversary to remember on this week’s episode of “Virgin Territory“: The bubbly Floridian swiped her V-card with her boyfriend to celebrate the special occasion. But since appearing on the MTV docu-series seven months ago, is the couple’s love going strong? Or have they gone their separate ways?
“I’m still together with Julian,” Anike, who has also launched a clothing line called “Noctis,” tells MTV News. “Filming the show made us closer.”
While Anike made the decision to seal the deal with her longtime love, she advises others who might be in a similar position to wait until they’re ready.

“It is normal to be confused and unsure of what ‘ready’ feels like,” the 20-year-old says. “The important thing is that you do it with someone that you love and that you are safe being with.”
In addition, Anike says that she learned that there is no “right” way to lose your virginity. “This is something that is very personal — not ‘one size fits all.’ Seeking advice is okay; however, it is most important to follow your heart.”

In the Venn diagram of hardcore football fans and hardcore One Direction fans, the overlap, I imagine, is pretty small. That divergence, though, didn’t stop Harry Styles from showing his support for Michael Sam at a concert in St. Louis—the city where Sam plays. Sam is the first openly gay player to be drafted into the NFL, and his jersey is the No.2 selling jersey among 2014 rookies. Now that Harry has worn it, I’m gonna guess the 96 Rams jersey will be getting another a sales boost—Directioners go hard.

We’re bringing saxy back! A few months after the fat sax loop on Ariana Grande’s “Problem,” Redfoo is making woodwinds cool again with “New Thang,” a song he released on Sunday.
But this isn’t the first time we’ve glorified the reed instrument in pop music. Let’s go back to an earlier time — 2005 to be exact — when the sax flowed aplenty and J.Lo looked…exactly the same.
1.) Jennifer Lopez — “Get Right”
I remember first hearing this on the bus ride to school and having my mind blown. Band instruments can be used in Top 40 music? And it can sound extremely sexy? There really was nothing like it.
2.) Katy Perry — “Last Friday Night (TGIF)”
Things stayed jazzy well into 2011, with Katy including a sax solo on her Teenage Dream summer single. Kenny G played the saxophonist in the video, if you remember.
3.) Lady Gaga — “The Edge of Glory”
Also that summer, Mother Monster dropped this Clarence Clemons-assisted Born This Way track. The E Street Band musician also appeared in the video.
4.) M83 — “Midnight City”
The echoy electronics of M83 made the sax solo at the end of this song a little surprising. Nevertheless, Fitz and The Tantrums’ James King wailed away. 2011 was a big year for sax.

Even though it’s been awhile since Naya Rivera picked up pom-poms on “Glee” as Santana Lopez, she channeled her inner cheerleader when her NFL pro little brother, Mychal, scored big time for his Oakland Raiders. Like a good big sister, she posted a photo on Instagram Friday morning (August 29) of him with one of his teammates after he scored a touchdown that helped lead the team to victory over the Seattle Seahawks.
Photos are worth a thousand words, as the saying goes, but Naya proudly added one more: “Duuhhhh…”

Mychal is very supportive of his sister’s career too. Back in September 2013, when Naya’s single “Sorry” dropped, he told everyone to go download it on iTunes.

When news broke last night that Britney Spears had ended her relationship with David Lucado, her boyfriend of a year and a half, I bet a sizable chunk of the Britney Army immediately set about curating the ultimate breakup playlist.
I’m thinking “Everytime” on repeat for hours with “Out From Under,” “Someday I Will Understand” and “From The Bottom Of My Broken Heart” to shake things up every couple O’ hundred plays?
As for the “Work Bitch” singer herself, her loneliness is definitely not killing her — at least by the looks of a new Instagram video, which she captioned: “When you’re having a sh-tty day…” Her advice seems simple enough to follow.
Step one: Find some shoes with hearts on them.

Some days you wake up, browse the Internet to find cool stories on Reddit/Tumblr/etc. to share with all of your friends, and find diddly squat. (By “all of your friends” I mean MTV News readers. You guys are my friends, right? Of course you are.)
And then there are days like today (August 29), when you wake up and find that Jensen Ackles, he of the god-like chest region and brand new Twitter account, did a Harper’s Bazaar China shoot earlier in the summer with predictably handsome results. These are the best of days.
Now, the first hint at the existence of this shoot came from Instagram user isewhite, a creative and fashion director, who teased Ackles’ participation four months ago. “Jensen Ackles for Bazaar China group shot,” she wrote. We were all so excited!
But then months went by — the shoot was for the September issue, after all — and by the time the pics finally hit the web, it took an alert from Ackles’ Chinese fan club to finally get them on my radar. Now Tumblr is blowing up, and with good reason — these classy, sexy photos were clearly worth the wait. Check them out below, and let us know what you think in the comments!

On Sunday, August 24 at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards Beyoncé took home the Moonman that was once the Lifetime Achievement Award and a hallmark that stood for an almost peerless contribution to music — a standard set and upheld by Michael Jackson throughout his entire career, a standard that we continue to celebrate five years after Jackson’s death.

Had Michael not passed away on June 25, 2009, he would’ve turned 56 on Friday, August 29. MJ has left us with so many unforgettable moments, but given it’s Michael’s birthday and given the unbreakable ties between the VMAs and Michael’s MTV history, we dug into the MTV vaults and pulled out one that felt appropriate: Michael Jackson’s 1988 Video Vanguard Award win.
