Here’s The Ice Bucket Challenge Halloween Costume You Didn’t Ask For

by 2 mins ago

It seems that almost everyone has been doing the Ice Bucket Challenge, in order to raise both money and awareness for ALS. Online retailer Brands on Sale is selling this summer’s largest social media trend as a Halloween costume.

Ice Bucket Challenge CostumeBrands on Sale

While we’ve got some issues on the construction of the costume: Do we have to hold the bucket above our heads the entire time? Can’t it just be suspended in the air? How annoying is it going to be carrying an ice tray all night? And we’re not entirely sure how long the shelf life of this particular ensemble is. The internet is a fickle mistress afterall. But if you choose to purchase your very own Ice Bucket Challenge costume, we hope that you’ll make a sizable donation to The ALS Association as well.

P.S. There are only 69 shopping days left until Halloween.

The ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ Dancing Baby Groot Toy Is Finally Real

by 5 mins ago

Pretty much since the moment they walked out of the movie theater after seeing “Guardians of the Galaxy,” fans have been begging Marvel to release an official Dancing Baby Groot toy. And now, finally, the moment has come thanks to the good folks at Funko.

It may not dance with the sweet, sweet moves of director James Gunn, but at least its a bobblehead – and adorable. Want to get one? No info is available on price or release date until next week, but pre-orders will start (and probably sell out) very, very soon.

Now when do we get a Hungry, Hungry Hippos version of the game Drax and Rocket watched in the bar on Knowhere?

Here’s a larger version for your viewing pleasure:

13 Fun VMA Facts Your Friends Probably Don’t Know

by 10 mins ago

The VMAs have been around for, like, your entire life. A ton of interesting stuff has happened during and behind-the-scenes of the show, and we’ve put together a few fun facts to round out your full VMAs education.

Keep your knowledge of pop culture sharp and witty — as it should be — by watching this year’s show on Sunday at 9/8c.

1. At the first VMAs, Michael Jackson won three awards. Who was the only performer to win more? Herbie Hancock. Wait a minute — who?
The first VMAs were at Radio City Music Hall on September 14, 1984. Dan Akroyd and Bette Midler hosted the show, and musician Herbie Hancock took home five awards — and we don’t blame you if you have no idea who any of those people are.

2. In 2013, the Moonman statue was redesigned for the first time in 30 years.

Brooklyn artist KAWS redesigned the Moonman statue in honor of the VMAs’ first time in Brooklyn.

3. Madonna has won more Moonman awards than Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson combined.
Madonna has won more VMAs than anyone ever. She’s won 20 Moonmen since 1984 — when she opened the show with a scandalous-at-the-time performance of “Like A Virgin” — for everything from Video Of The Year to Best Longform Video.

The Hidden ‘Breaking Bad’ Reference You Missed In ‘Godzilla’

by 18 mins ago

Gareth Edwards’ “Godzilla” is really great for a lot of reasons, and fans of giant monsters fights are still finding cool stuff buried in the blockbuster.

Most recently, someone over on reddit pulled stills from the uncensored opening credits, before all of the in-jokes got blacked out and classified. The whole gallery is a lot of fun to look through, but one credit in particular stands out.

For Bryan Cranston’s acting credit, the team behind “Godzilla” snuck in a nods to his “Breaking Bad” and “Malcolm in the Middle” characters.

Did you see it?

The words “Walter,” “white” and “Malcolm” appeared above Cranston’s name just before getting whited out.

It’s a small, fun nod to Cranston’s work, and it makes me love “Godzilla” a little bit more.

“Godzilla” will be available on digital platforms on August 26 and hits Blu-ray and DVD on September 16.

Katy Perry And Riff Raff Actually Have Similar Taste In Fashion

by 27 mins ago

Yesterday Katy Perry and her new bestie Riff Raff gifted the world with their remix of KP’s “This Is How We Do.” While this move was, no question, unexpected, the two have more in common than you might think. Really! Perry and Jody Highroller not only share at least one of their friends, designer Jeremy Scott, they’ve also shown the same level of appreciation for ~out there~ fashion choices, especially over the past few years.

Aside from the cornrows they both fearlessly wear in the remix’s artwork, Katy and RiFF have been on the same sartorial wavelength when it comes to their love of food fashion, animal prints, and the fact that they spend all of their free time searching the dark corners of Tumblr for style inspiration. We rounded up all of the times the two dressed alike.

Green Hair, Don’t Care

Katy Perry and RiFF RAFF are both brave when it comes their hair choices–especially when it comes to colorful hair. The best part of their green hues? How much it brought out the blue in their eyes.

Before there was Beyonce’s “Drunk in Love,” Katy Perry was championing the then-underrated fruit in the form of a romper she wore on NBC’s “Today.” RiFF RAFF obviously took note of the fruit’s wearable potential— or the pair have some kind of ...

This Teacher Was Fired For Playing Beyonce For Her 6th-Graders

by 2 mins ago

Careful all you Beyonce-loving teachers out there, bringing Bey into the classroom could cost you your job. The Atlanta Public School System has terminated 6th grade teacher Nikki Turner for playing “Drunk In Love” to her class.

Although their problems with Ms. Turner go farther than her Beyonce playing, “Drunk in Love” definitely played a role, according to the The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The administration explained, “This song contained profanity, vulgarity, and sexually explicit lyrics. This song is not [in] alignment with Teacher Keys Standard 9, Professionalism.” Unfortunately this was just one of dozens of complaints against the teacher, that included her failure to “demonstrate knowledge of the sixth-grade math concepts” and “properly plan lessons.”

College students, meanwhile, can take an entire course about Mr. and Mrs. Carter, like “Politicizing Beyonce,” at Rutgers or “Leaders In Music: Jay-Z” at NYU.

Beyonce will be receiving the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award and performing this Sunday at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards at The Forum in LA. Don’t forget to tune in at 9pm EST.

Exclusive: Miley’s Sledgehammer Finally Breaks His Silence

by 22 mins ago

Fame can be glamorous — fancy parties, mansions, frenzied fans. But what happens when your fame dries up? What if you’re left behind or forgotten? What about when the phone stops ringi

Such is the story of Pharrell’s hat, Sia’s chandelier, Miley Cyrus‘ sledgehammer, Beyonce‘s surfboart and Iggy Azalea‘s copy of “Clueless.” Sure, they served their purpose in the beginning (Miley’s sledgehammer did a lot of wrecking in the “Wrecking Ball” video), but now, they’re sharing their behind-the-scenes stories in this shocking tell-all special, “VMA Backstories: Forgotten Props.”

In these exclusive interviews with the humble props, you’ll learn the reasons why the surfboart never made it into “Drunk In Love” or why “Chandelier” never actually featured a chandelier. While these videos made it big and now are nominated for Video of the Year at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, these props were left behind. Here are their stories:

Who Does Little Meilani Look Like More: Jenni Farley Or Roger Mathews?

by 31 mins ago

Little Meilani Mathews has already proven to have her father’s sense of adventure and her mother’s daring style, but when it comes to her “Jersey Shore” gene pool, who does she take after?

JWOWW, whose “Jersey Shore Massacre” hits select theaters TODAY, just took a moment from her busy executive producer schedule to adore her little girl (can’t say we blame her!). But as she looked into Meilani’s eyes, she couldn’t tell if she saw herself staring back. Is the baby a mini-WOWW, or does she have the features of her dear old dad?

MeiJRJWOWW's Instagram

Determined to get to the bottom of things, Jenni plastered a photo of Meilani beside her own baby photo and one that belonged to Roger. “I think she’s 50/50…Lol (I’m super jealous everyone keeps saying she looks like roger lol)” she captioned the Instagram photo (Jenni’s top left, Rog’s bottom left).

Do you agree with JWOWW’s assessment? Tell us if Meilani’s either of her parent’s carbon copy!

Take A Tour Of The Jennifer Lopez Versace Hall Of Fame On ‘House Of Style’

by 31 mins ago

In this episode of House Of Style, our host Iggy Azalea sits down with Jennifer Lopez (her idol and ours) at the Versace store on L.A.’s famous Rodeo Drive. The floor is set up with a kind of ~Jennifer Lopez Versace Hall Of Fame~ (unofficial name for the archival pieces we pulled and stationed in the shop), dripping with some of her favorite tour costumes over the years done by the legendary Italian fashion house (plus, yes, that one dress from the Grammys).

Their conversation lingers on performance wares when Iggy asks Jennifer to reveal her favorite kind of costume to wear onstage. Spoiler alert: It’s onesies! And while we’ve definitely seen Iggy wear them before, she admits that jumpsuits are difficult for her to wear. Summarized in a hashtag, #bigbootyproblems (something J.Lo knows a thing or two about, too).

Versace and, TBH, fashion in general have been a major driving force in J.Lo’s life and career, and in a move that calls back to her early years living in the Bronx—before she was ever able to afford Versace—she took that influence and channeled it into a line with Kohl’s at a more accessible pricepoint. Peep the ladies’ full conversation and J.Lo’s tour of her fave VersaceVersaceVersace in this episode of House Of Style!
