The Final Episode Of ’24′ Didn’t End Well For Jack Bauer

by 44 mins ago

Spoiler Alert: Here’s what happened on the “24: Live Another Day” season finale!

After nine seasons of fighting bad guys and never getting the girl, Jack Bauer finished his “24″ tenure (for now) by repeating history.

While some fans expected Jack Bauer’s death at the end of “24: Live Another Day,” it was another longtime character on the real-time thriller who bit the bullet instead. Audrey Boudreau, Jack’s former flame and the daughter of the President of the United States, was shot and killed, mirroring the season one death of Jack’s wife Teri Bauer.

Audrey’s death sends Bauer into absolute override overdrive, leading him to pull a Drazen against the various Chinese terrorists assisting the legendarily evil Cheng Zhi, the mastermind behind the events of “Live Another Day,” the would-be architect of World War III, and the man who imprisoned and tortured Bauer for over two years. Cheng also tortured Audrey for several years as well, and as the man ultimately responsible for her death, Jack wasn’t walking away without Cheng’s blood on his hands.

Luckily, whatever Jack wants and needs, Jack gets. He kills his way to Cheng, proves to the United States and Chinese governments that Cheng is the man responsible for pitting the two countries against each other, and then proceeds to attain vengeance the only way he knows how — by picking up a nearby samurai sword and beheading Cheng in one deft move. Don’t bother asking why there’s a sword on the boat; it was ...

Tupac Musical Closing After Just Six Weeks On Broadway

by 6 mins ago

After only six weeks of performances at the Palace Theater, the Tupac Shakur musical “Holler If Ya Hear Me” will be closing down production on Sunday.

Unfortunately, the Broadway show, which is inspired by the late rapper’s music and lyrics, was unable to attract enough theater patrons to keep the $8 million show afloat.

“I was unable to sustain this production longer in order to give it time to bloom on Broadway,” lead producer Eric L. Gold said in a statement.

The show, which opened to mixed reviews in mid-June, never brought in more than $175,000 per week in gross revenues, making it one of Broadway’s worst-selling musicals in recent years, according to the New York Times.

Last week, only 45 percent of the show’s seats were occupied, resulting in the subpar gross of $154,948, according to The Times.

“If we don’t succeed, it’s going to be difficult to do another rap or hip hop show on Broadway,” Gold told Variety last week when vowing to keep the show open. “It’s an expensive game, and I’m the guy carrying the load financially. I made a rookie mistake by underestimating how much capital was necessary, but I’m tenacious.”

There were high hopes for “Holler,” which starred Saul Williams and was directed by Tony Award winner Kenny Leon, best known for “A Raisin in the Sun,” but critics panned the storyline for being to clichéd.

“We are so proud to be a part of this ground-breaking production,” Gold said. “The cast, musicians, production and ...

Does The ‘Teen Wolf’ Hit List Creator Have A Link To Allison Argent?

by 10 mins ago

Allison Argent may be gone, but her name is living on…in pretty unfortunate fashion.

On tonight’s “Teen Wolf” episode, Lydia, who’d been out of sorts, realized the latest installment of her Banshee haze generated a totally unclear computer code. She wasn’t sure what it meant, but she and Kira decided it was worth exploring. So the girls took the laptop along with them on a trip to Lydia’s lakehouse, which was designed to keep Malia and the newly bitten Liam safely restrained during the coming full moon.

Unbeknownst to Lydia, Liam, who’d been led to the lake house under the pretense that there was a party in progress, had invited the better part of the freshmen class to rage; soon, Lydia’s pad was a war zone. Amid the chaos, the banshee chased Liam’s pal Mason upstairs to shoo him out of the second-floor office and quickly realized — once she shut the door behind her — that the space was soundproof. Before long, she picked up on the white noise the room’s phonograph was playing and receded into her familiar supernatural trance (complete with visions of heads in the wall!).

Kira, who’d been busy keeping Liam tied up, stumbled upon Lydia in the thick of the banshee’s spell, and when Lydia came to, she realized she’d drummed up the password to her code: “Allison.” She entered her fallen friend’s name into her laptop, and what popped up understandably chilled her to her core. ...

Steve Angello’s ‘Wasted Love’ Is Temper Trap Meets EDM

by 24 mins ago

Ever since Swedish House Mafia unexpectedly and cermoniously called it quits back in 2012, fans of the beloved EDM trio have been waiting patiently for what Steve Angello, Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso come up with on their own.

And on Monday (July 14), after nearly two years after the split, Angello has shared “Wasted Love,” the first track off his upcoming album Wild Youth, a project the DJ has teased a lot, but never gave us a listen until now.

The track, which premiered on Rolling Stone, finds Angello linking up once again with the Temper Trap frontman Dougy Mandagi. The track of mixing Angello’s signature EDM with Dougy’s hypnotic vocals — a love ballad with a kick of anger.

“We just wanted to have a song where our worlds collided a little bit, something that speaks to all of us, so I wanted to create something that was different but also honored the Temper Trap style,” he told RS. “I also wanted to find a great balance between dance and indie, and I kind of held back a lot just to create that moment where it’s about the melodies and the songs.

It’s that innovation that Angello says he’s bringing to the entirety of Wild Youth, which is set for release on July 22.

“I think it’s really important for dance music today to become creative again, rethink and not just repeat yourself over and over again, like a lot of producers do,” he told MTV News earlier this ...

Ariana Grande, 5SOS And Usher Are Bringing ‘A Whole Lotta Love’ To The VMAs

by 37 mins ago

Sure, the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards will feature performances from the biggest names in today’s music — Usher, Ariana Grande and Five Seconds of Summer are just the first to be announced — but that doesn’t mean it won’t be a classic.

A new promo video for the August 24 show features Led Zeppelin’s 1969 “Whole Lotta Love,” a legendary and rambunctious track that’s perfect for a show as esteemed and unpredictable as the VMAs.

Considered by many to be one of the greatest rock songs of all time — and among the best guitar tracks in history — “Whole Lotta Love” was the opening track off Led Zeppelin II, which will be on of three Zeppelin albums that will get a deluxe re-release on June 3.

Starting with the releases of Led Zeppelin, Led Zeppelin II, and Led Zeppelin III, the band will reissue all nine of its studio albums in chronological order, each remastered by guitarist and producer Jimmy Page. The albums will also feature dozens of unheard studio and live recordings.

“The material on the companion discs presents a portal to the time of the recording of Led Zeppelin,” Page said in a statement to MTV News. “It is a selection of work in progress with rough mixes, backing tracks, alternate versions, and new material recorded at the time.”

Don’t miss the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards when they air live from the Forum in Inglewood, California, on August 24 at 9 p.m. ET.

Drake Hops On PARTYNEXTDOOR’s ‘Recognize’: Listen Now

by 21 mins ago

Right after announcing the July 29 release of his sophomore album PARTYNEXTDOOR TWO, PARTYNEXTDOOR let loose the project’s pre-order bonus track, “Recognize,” featuring OVO Sound’s head owl Drake.

Party rides the trance-hop track with his signature raunchy falsetto, crooning quotable phrases like, “turn f–king you into a habit.”

“I want you, I want you to turn up on me every night when I see you/ Better recognize when I see you,” he sings on the hook.

Not surprisingly, Drizzy plays the homerun hitter for the song, spitting lines about buying his woman a Mercedes, who she has sex with when he’s not in town and, most notably, their sexual voyeurism.

Ab-Soul, Mac Miller And Schoolboy Q Throw One Lavish Party In ‘Hunnid Stax’: Watch Now

by 20 mins ago

Three weeks after dropping his debut LP, These Days…, Ab-Soul takes his fans to his native California for the project’s first official video, “Hunnid Stax.”

The Adam Roberts-directed clip finds Soul in the back of a limo, cruising the palm tree-lined streets of Cali with two ladies.

A smoked-out Mac Miller, dressed in purple striped Polo pajamas, drops rhymes in between drags in one of the bedrooms of a house party.

“F–k what I did last night, I’m tryin’ to spend a hunnid stax everyday of my life,” raps Most Dope MC before handing the baton to Schoolboy Q.

Flanked by two twerking dancers, Q fires off lines about spending cash as TDE cohort Jay Rock plays silent hypeman.

The kicker, though, is a voice over cameo by Puff Daddy, who stamps the visuals with some of his signature big talk.

“What? It ain’t no more to it. Soulo eatin’ now. Tell ‘em Puff said so,” he says.

Are You Ready For R5′s Heart Made Up On You EP?

by 9 mins ago

Ready to run rambunctiously around a red raceway with Rihanna after riding a rowdy roller coaster like a reckless Ruff Ryder? OK, that made absolutely no sense, but we wanted to express our excitement for R5′s new EP Heart Made Up On You — which drops July 22 and is available for preorder tonight at midnight ET — and overusing words that begin with the letter “R” felt the most appropriate.

While little is known about the new record, when MTV News caught up with the fivesome earlier this summer, we peer-pressured them into giving us some info on their full-length album, out September 30 (and playing a ridiculous game, which you can watch by clicking on the video below).

“The new record, we’re still finishing it, it’s coming along really, really nicely,” Ross Lynch from the group explained. “It’s sort of a natural evolution of R5 and we’re just letting it all happen naturally, we’re letting it do it’s thing.”

“There was nothing really set in stone, the songs just started coming and writing and stuff like that, the sound of it totally happened on its own, and we’re really, really stoked about it,” brother and bandmate Riker Lynch chimed in. “I’m super pumped.”

With a “darker,” more “in your face” sound, the band say their sophomore LP will have a more mature sound than their debut.

“As far as the theme goes, we were really going for something new, I’m not giving too much away, I’m thinking about what I’m saying because ...
