Echosmith Took Over Our Instagram With ‘Warped Tour’ Madness

by 16 mins ago

The siblings of Echosmith have been blazing across America, bringing their own brand of synthy, catchy indie pop to the ears of fans on the Warped Tour.

This teenage family act is on the cusp of hitting the big time—don’t let their youth fool you. Sure, their oldest brother Jamie is barely of drinking age, and the youngest, Graham is 15 so he can’t even drive… but that hasn’t stopped them from getting major label attention.

We recently named them as one of our 2014 MTV Artists to Watch, and you can read their full story here.

Now, the group have begun their second stint on the Warped Tour, and what better time to let them take over MTV’s Instagram account and give us a taste of life on the road?

“Cool Kids,” their biggest single so far, just broke through the Top 40 and Echosmith show no signs of slowing down. Here’s a peek into a typical day for the group.

Like the cool kids they are, the group remains unfazed by their success.

Or maybe they just need a little more coffee before they hit the stage? Touring is exhausting, after all. This photo reveals a little-known fact about Warped Tour—it involves a lot of parking lots.

Work hard, play harder. There’s plenty of time to get a ride in before they hit the stage.

Sure, Warped Tour is tons of fun for fans, but let’s not forget the artists need a little time for goofing off too. What’s the deal ...

Megan Fox Goes Makeup-Free In First Instagram Selfie — Or Does She?

by 27 mins ago

Hey, you guys: Megan Fox joined a social media network and did a thing!

Now, typically speaking, most posts about celebrity Instagram photos — particularly of the inaugural selfie and/or make-up free variety — elicit a bevy of posts with hilarious overstatements. “Oh, look at her flawless skin!” “How brave!” “No makeup, no problem because goregeousness!” You know, that sort of stuff.

But Megan Fox’s inaugural Instagram selfie is just that: an Instagram selfie wherein the person taking the photo may or may not be lying about what is going on in the photo. Because despite her claims, it sort of looks like she’s got a bit of eyeliner on. Maybe some mascara and lip gloss.

Though who knows: she could just be that naturally gifted in the eye features department. I mean, we don’t know her and filters can sometimes be truly magical. #Sutro. Plus, the fact that she’s wearing a robe sure does encourage the idea that she #wokeuplikethis.

Either way it doesn’t really matter does it? Although it is sorta less-than-cool to try and tout yourself as make-up free when you’re not to your impressionable young girl fans because beauty standards are already unrealistic in 2014 — because it’s just a photo of a famous person doing that thing that so many other folks her age, younger, and older do. And if she’s really not wearing make-up, good for her and her skin because, you know, skin doesn’t really love make-up all the time anyway.

So take ...

Melissa McCarthy’s ‘Tammy’: What The Critics Are Saying

by 8 mins ago

That rumbling you’re feeling? That’s the sound of a new Melissa McCarthy comedy bulldozing toward the box office.

McCarthy’s new movie, “Tammy,” co-written and directed by her husband Ben Falcone, opens in theaters this weekend. Critics are divided about the “Bridesmaids” and “The Heat” comedian’s latest; while some are enchanted by McCarthy’s usual unusual antics, others are over it, finding that the smaller-scale comedy veers too far off course.

Read on to see what the reviews have to say about “Tammy”:

The Story
“After wrecking her grisly Toyota Corolla, Tammy loses her job in a fast-food joint due to a lateness incident that forms the crowning event in an escalating display of bad attitude. Her pompous boss demands she hand in her badge, like a disgraced cop, although Tammy points out that it is just a name tag which she David-Brent-ishly had to pay for in the first place.

“On arriving back home, unwontedly early, she discovers her husband Greg (Nat Faxon) not in flagrante exactly, but having an infuriatingly monogamous meal with their neighbour Missi, played by Toni Collette. With nothing left to lose, Tammy hits the road with her cantankerous alcoholic grandma Pearl (Susan Sarandon) who offers to put up cash and her car for this defiant road trip, being herself enraged at her daughter — that is Tammy’s mom Deb (Allison Janney) — and her plans to put her in a home. And along the way, Tammy and Deb naturally have romantic adventures with men and learn some lessons.” ...

YG Thinks Iggy Azalea’s ‘Fancy’ Sounds A Lot Like DJ Mustard Production

by 2 mins ago

YG isn’t big on self censorship, so when he paid a visit to TimWestwoodTV in the UK this week, he shared a few things that were on his mind, in a freestyle over Drake’s “0 to 100″ beat.

One of those things was his feelings about any DJ Mustard copycats out there, spitting, “And DJ Mustard, that n—a producers they jocking/ “Fancy,” don’t it sound like he produced that sh–?” He was referring to Iggy Azalea’s smash hit.

Mustard and YG had their issues with Mister F.A.B. recently, over a similar topic.

The Compton rapper also had a quick note for anyone who doubted him before he dropped My Krazy Life. “They thought I was a one hit wonder, now I got three hits and a classic album up under my muthaf—-n’ belt.”

‘Family Guy’ Meets ‘Game Of Thrones’ In Mash-Up Drawings

by 9 mins ago

It’s hard to come by a mashup this good. These hand drawings (how 90s!) of the cast of “Family Guy” transported to the world of Westeros—a.k.a. “Game of Thrones”—are practically perfect.

Stewie as King of the Brats Joffrey Baratheon, Quagmire as Theon Greyjoy/Reek, Meg as Hodor, and Brian as the Ghost to Chris’ Jon Snow? It’s so on-the-nose in the best way—the whole project deserves an e-round of applause.

One complaint: would Peter really be a Stark? Honestly, he could also easily have been Ser Dontos or Patchface. Also, what about Brian as Varys? Is crossing species allowed? Brian can already talk, and if humans can warg into animals who’s to say he can’t warg into a human, you know?

Take a peek:

So artist Eric La Sorda clearly has a knack for this, but he also missed a few. Who would be the Khaleesi of Quahog? What about Arya? Sansa? The Hound? Let us know your picks in the comments.

J.K. Rowling’s ‘Fantastic Beasts’ Finds Home At ‘Harry Potter’ Shooting Location

by 13 mins ago

Little is known about “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” beyond the fact that it’s set several decades before “Harry Potter,” and will come from a screenplay written by J.K. Rowling herself.

Here’s another new fact about the upcoming “Potter” prequel: “Fantastic Beasts” will shoot at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, the studio’s facility located just outside of London. It’s the same location where all eight of the “Harry Potter” films were shot.

With “Fantastic Beasts” set for release in little more than two years, it’s only a matter of time before even more news starts to become available — director and casting announcements in particular. So far, we only know the identity of the film’s main character: Newt Scamander, the young wizard who eventually becomes a famous magizoologist, and the author of the Hogwarts textbook the film takes its title from.

We also know that the movie takes place at least partially in New York, offering “Harry Potter” fans their first glimpse at how the wizarding world operates within the United States.

“Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them” hits theaters on November 18, 2016.

Sia Continues To Hide Her Face During ‘Jimmy Kimmel’ Performance

by 26 mins ago

Nope, Sia still doesn’t want you to see her face. The singer hit “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on Thursday night to perform three tracks, and true to form, she managed to deliver all of them without showing her mug.

She performed “Chandelier” and “Big Girls Cry” off her forthcoming album 1000 Forms Of Fear which is out this Tuesday July 8, and “Elastic Heart,” her contribution to the “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” soundtrack, that will also be on the new album.

Throughout her performance, Sia sang with her back to the camera, while the audience took in her colorful, acrobatic dancers instead. And there was definitely no shortage of face paint.

If you haven’t already, it’s also worth checking out her very unexpected video for “Chandelier.” She performed the song live with the New York City Gay Men’s Chorus during Logo TV’s “Trailblazers” television special last month.

‘Who Is Bruce Springsteen?’ Jeopardy Bosses Up

by 48 mins ago

America’s birthday is the perfect day to announce a new Jeopardy category: Bruce Springsteen. That’s right, as Rolling Stone points out, one of the USA’s best-known rock and roll artists has officially become interesting enough to warrant his own slot on the infamous trivia show.

On Thursday night’s show, the whole first round was devoted to Springsteen-inspired questions. The categories included several of Bruce’s iconic songs like “Born in the USA,” “Glory Days,” “Cover Me,” “The Ghost of Tom Joad,” along with a category for Bruce himself and one for his longtime collaborators “The E Street Band.”

If you missed the show, check out a brief clip of the categories being unveiled.

Bruce Springsteen – Jeopardy by mendle44

For diehard fans, the questions would’ve been no problem. Because all of us know off the top of our heads which song Bruce intended for The Ramones, right?

Those who were eager to share their E Street Band knowledge were led astray by the category—it simply focused on words starting with the letter “E” instead of facts about the band.

I guess this means “Jeopardy” won’t be included in Bruce’s old complaint about “57 Channels (And Nothin’ On).”

Taylor Swift And Her BFFs Are Celebrating The 4th Of July Momstyle

by 49 mins ago

Taylor Swift and a few from her BFF brigade are having the most momtastic 4th of July, ever, according to their active Instagramming. And no, she’s not throwing back brewskis and grilling hot dogs over an open flame — hers is a fête far more sophisticated than all that.

The singer and her buds — models Jaime King and Amanda Griffith — are on a weekend holiday of sorts, complete with cake-baking selfies and even a slow-motion swimming video. Because that’s what your run-of-the-mill, 24-year-old Americans are doing these days, right?

The trio of überblondes are currently hanging out somewhere beachside, and getting their patriotism on in true Swiftian style.

Australian Griffith, it seems, was getting her first taste of ‘Merican traditions with the cake-making, proving Swift is quite the ambassador:

But even with all that momming around, Swift still managed to act her age a wee bit, as evidenced by King’s chuckleworthy video:

USA! USA! USA (but not too loud. You’ll wake Olivia Benson)!

‘Deliver Us From Evil’: The Reviews Are In

by 11 mins ago

Count on fireworks this weekend, and not just because of the Fourth of July, but also because of the release of the explosive new horror film, “Deliver Us From Evil.”

Directed by Scott Derrickson (“Sinister,” and Marvel’s upcoming “Doctor Strange”) and starring Eric Bana and Edgar Ramirez, “Deliver Us From Evil” tells the story of police officers in the Bronx investigating forces of evil. Allegedly based on a true story, “Deliver Us From Evil” isn’t exactly winning critics over; while some reviews are on board with the exorcism thriller’s brand of terror, others find it a run-of-the-mill story that feels more like an episode of “Law and Order” than a feature film.

Read on for a selection of “Deliver Us From Evil” reviews:

The Story
“Set in the South Bronx, ‘Deliver Us From Evil’ is a variation on a theme of ‘The Exorcist,’ complete with a hardened police investigator (Sarchie, played by Aussie actor Eric Bana), who has a ‘radar’ for evil, and a flawed but dedicated young Catholic priest (Venezuelan Edgar Ramirez of ‘Carlos the Jackal’). The action begins in 2010 in Iraq, where three Marines in combat discover an underground chamber and two of them explore it to their regret. (Iraq also figures in the opening of ‘The Exorcist.’) Back in the South Bronx in 2013, Sarchie and partner Butler (a very good Joel McHale), a misfit in a Red Sox cap, investigate a domestic disturbance and come across one of the Marines (Chris Coy) and a ...
