Katy Perry Meets Joe Biden, And Takes An Epic Selfie To Prove It

by 32 mins ago

Katy Perry’s Prismatic world tour has only been in the States for a few days now, but she’s already conquered it all. After a night of full-on ’90s nostalgia in North Carolina, the diva stomped right on into our nation’s capitol for her second stop.

And since no trip to Washington D.C. would be complete without a little presidential love, the “Birthday” singer met up with VP Joe Biden. Donning a fabulous pink ponytail and an electric smile, Katy writes that Biden “made me call my 93 year-old grandma to thank her for my baby blue eyes!”

While running amok through D.C., the singer also found time for a classic tourist shot with the Washington Monument. (Admit it, you’ve done it too.)

Fans looking forward to the show tomorrow night (June 25) can catch a sneak peak at the epic tour merchandise right here.

The Weeknd Is Back… Listen To ‘Often’

by 7 mins ago

Beginning when he first emerged in the public’s collective consciousness in early 2011 with House of Balloons, The Weeknd has been pretty consistent in delivering new music to his fans. He dropped a total of three projects that year, then followed it up with the compilation, Trilogy, in 2012, and his major-label debut, Kiss Land, last year.

So far in 2014, though, we haven’t heard much from the Canadian native. We got a taste of something new on Tuesday evening (June 24), though.

The singer tweeted a link to “Often,” which sounds like a return to form. Abel Tesfaye’s distinct, plush voice guides the song, with a catchy hook and rich production to match.

With “Often” and his “Or Nah (Remix),” The Weekend is two-for-two so far this month. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come.

Wiz Khalifa Celebrates His Personal Strain Of Weed On New Song ‘KK’

by 35 mins ago

Some people have libraries or parks named after them. Not Wiz Khalifa (though maybe one day). For now, he’s got a strain of marijuana that’s his namesake. And the Pittsburgh rapper sounds pretty damn satisfied with that fact.

“I got my own weed, sucka/ So I ain’t gotta hit yours,” he raps to open his new song, “KK,” which he released on Tuesday (June 24).

The song’s title is an acronym for Khalifa Kush, which is named after the Taylor Gang general (obviously), and is given to him for free by The Cookie Company — a fact that he revealed during an interview on “Chelsea Lately” in April.

Also on board for Wiz’s latest release are Juicy J, who sounds a bit jealous — “I smoke so much KK, wish they’d have called it Juicy J,” he raps — and Project Pat.

Though he hasn’t said whether or not this is an official single from the upcoming album Blacc Hollywood, Wiz getting ready to drop the project later this year.

Reuniting Beyonce And Kelly On ‘Say Yes’ Was Always The Plan, Michelle Williams Says

by 28 mins ago

After spending some time on the Broadway circuit, Michelle Williams is back on her music grind, prepping her Journey To Freedom album for release this fall. One of the project’s lead singles is “Say Yes,” which features her Destiny’s Child girls, Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland.

Fans were thrilled to see the ladies come together again, but Williams says that this was always in the plan. “It feels wonderful [to work with them], and no matter how much we try to say it’s not a Destiny’s Child song [it doesn't matter],” she told MTV News, laughing.

“It’s not going on a Destiny’s Child album, it’s going on my album featuring Beyoncé and Kelly, the same way Kelly featured us on her album. But no matter how much we try to separate ourselves when we’re together, it is what it is — this is the group.”

Williams explained that she and the girls made a pact to keep working on each other’s solo projects, and they definitely kept their word.

“There was an interview we did some years ago saying that we would participate, in whatever capacity, on each other’s solo projects,” she explained. “Whether that is appearing with Beyoncé from time to time on her tours, or on shows, or Kelly’s album, so this was my turn now to have them on an original song on my album.”

Tyler, The Creator’s New Commercial Is As Weird As You Thought It Would Be

by 1 min ago

Never the type to be concerned with how awkward or uncomfortable their videos make you feel — think back to the roach-eating in “Yonkers” and most things about “Earl,” for some early evidence — the fellas from Odd Future are at it again.

Tyler, The Creator and co.’s new “Aunt Wang Syrup Commercial” is quite a sight. Honestly, we don’t even want to explain it — just watch the Tyler-directed clip for yourself.

Sadly, this is not actually an advertisement for some sweet syrup. No, it’s actually a promotional spot for the latest line of Golf Wang clothing.

Demi Lovato On Ed Sheeran And Lance Bass Collaborations: ‘Let’s Do It’

by 29 mins ago

If you’re like me, you’ve watched Ed Sheeran and Demi Lovato’s duet of “Give Me Love,” like, 9,000 times already.

But you know what’s even more impressive then their perfect vocals? The fact that they only practiced it once.

Demi stopped by MTV News on Tuesday (June 24) and told us what went down behind-the-scenes before they took the stage at the Hollywood Bowl.

“When we were rehearsing the song he was like ‘I’ll take the first verse, you take the second verse,’ and I was like ‘OK.’ So I listened to him sing the first verse and the first chorus and then it was my turn to sing and we were rehearsing in my dressing room,” Demi said. “And I completely forgot all the words. I was like, ‘I’m sorry, I’m really nervous.”

But it doesn’t seem like this will be the last time these two work together, since Demi teased that their much-anticipated collaboration is still in the works. They just need to find the time.

“We’ve talked about it for sure…” she said. “We discussed meeting up in London or wherever we are in the same place to write together, which has yet to happen.”

But teaming up with Ed isn’t the only duet Demi has on the horizon. On Monday the singer, who is premiering her video for “Really Don’t Care” on Thursday, attended Logo TV’s “Trailblazers” and met up with a certain former boy bander.

Justin Bieber Involved In Minor Car Crash In Beverly Hills

by 47 mins ago

Justin Bieber was reportedly involved in a minor car crash in Beverly Hills on Tuesday (June 24), after his driver tried to outspeed a paparazzo.

According to TMZ, the Escalade that the “Boyfriend” singer was a passenger in was being chased by a paparazzo when it ran into a BMW that was entering the street.

Law enforcement told TMZ that no one was injured.

Back in January of last year, a paparazzo was run over and killed when he was trying to photograph Bieber.

“Hopefully this tragedy will finally inspire meaningful legislation and whatever other necessary steps to protect the lives and safety of celebrities, police officers, innocent public bystanders, and the photographers themselves,” Bieber wrote in a statement after the incident.

Riff Raff Drops Neon Icon Today: Here Are The Four Songs You Gotta Hear

by 4 mins ago

Riff Raff is as polarizing a figure as you’ll get in music today, and the Tuesday (June 24) release of his Mad Decent debut, Neon Icon, will do little to change that. Over the course of 15 free-wheeling tracks, Jody Highroller rhymes irreverently, tossing rap paradigms out the window for something more suited to his off-beat tastes.

If you aren’t already a Riff Raff fan, it’s doubtful that Neon Icon will change mind; but to dismiss him totally isn’t the answer. Chances are Riff’s die hards already scooped up the album, but if you haven’t yet, then give these four tracks a spin first.

“Introducing the Icon”
We’re not saying Riff Raff is the second-coming of Eazy-E — that would be crazy, right? Still we couldn’t help but think of the late Eric Wright while listening to this one.

“Versace Python”
We stopped by for the song title, but stayed for the dream-like, Bone Thugs-inspired melody.

“Maybe You Love Me”
Are Mike Posner and Jody Highroller the 2014 answer to R. Kelly and Jay Z’s Best of Both Worlds? Maybe, maybe not, but don’t surprised if this song ends up a radio staple.

“How to Be the Man” (Houston Remix)
Riff Raff couldn’t miss with this one. DJ Mustard, plus Slim Thug and Paul Wall? Sign us up!

Help ‘Challenge’ Champ Emily Schromm Become The ‘Next Fitness Star’

by 8 mins ago

Rarely does feared “Challenge” champ Emily Schromm require a helping hand (she’s sitting pretty with a 5-0 elimination round record). But the fitness guru is in the race to be Women’s Health‘s Next Fitness Star, and your vote could ensure she’s a winner.

Schromm, who first appeared on “Real World: D.C.” in 2009, was plucked from a pool of thousands of buzzworthy personal trainers as one of five semifinalists fighting for the magazine’s honor. The winner will be the face of Women’s Health’s next DVD project — and if you ask us, there’s nobody better than Em, whose Unleashed Fitness personal training business is booming.

See what Schromm told us about her path from “Real World” to present day, watch her pitch to be the Next Fitness Star and vote for her daily from now until August 1!

WomensHealthTerry Doyle/Women's Health

How were you selected to be a Next Fitness Star semifinalist?
I’ve been a trainer for three years, and I have a couple of clients in Denver that brought it to my attention. It was an opportunity to take at-home workouts to the next level through your own DVD series, and that’s sort of what I’ve been doing with my 21 Day Challenge online. But I wanted to make my demographic bigger, so I randomly applied, and they told me a week later that I’d been selected.

What would it mean to you to win?
I’m definitely not the typical Women’s ...

Yes, There’s Going To Be A ‘Marcel The Shell’ Movie. And It Will Have Songs In It.

by 15 mins ago

Commence freakout: There are plans to make a “Marcel the Shell (With Shoes On)” feature-length movie, and it’s going to have songs in it.

That’s right: Marcel’s gonna sing some sweet tunes.

Jenny Slate, the creator and teeny tiny voice of the fan favorite stop-motion short films chronicling the trials and triumphs of an anthropomorphized shell and his very small shoes, recently caught up with MTV News in New York City.

She was doing the press rounds for her new movie “Obvious Child,” a very funny and very true-to-life take on a young stand-up comedian who gets pregnant after a chance meeting that turns into a delightful, drunken evening. Of course, being one of Marcel’s many fans, I couldn’t be in a room without asking Slate to do Marcel’s signature squeaky voice at least once.

And, apparently, Slate couldn’t leave the room without not only reciting famous movie lines (watch out, “Jurassic Park,” you’ve been Marcel-ified), but also sharing a detailed version of how she came up with Marcel’s voice, and plans for a feature-length movie with songs in it.

Yes. A movie. A whole movie.

Oh, and she also performs a soulful rendition of “My Mother Got Lost In A Rug,” a Marcel original about — well, you can guess.

Check out the interview above for the whole scoop, and check out “Obvious Child,” in theaters now.
