Dr. Dre Welcomes Jay Z To The ‘Jungle’ With NBA Finals Remix

by 06/16/14

Maybe Jay Z wasn’t sitting court side when LeBron and the Heat lost to the Spurs Sunday night, but his presence was still felt. During game 5 of the NBA Finals, Beats By Dre debuted a remix of X Ambassadors and Jamie N Commons’ single “Jungle,” featuring Jay.

The rock-heavy, upbeat track, produced by Alex Da Kid, originally appeared in Beats’ five-minute “Game Before the Game” commercial last week, featuring stars like Lil Wayne and Heat star James, but a revamped version hit TV last night. Shortly before that, Dre hinted that something big was coming, with a tweet directed at Jay. The full song will be available exclusively for Beats subscribers in the next week.

This one is for motivation and Hov knows there are “records to break, medals to take, flags to wave,” especially with the World Cup in full swing.

Dre is having a great year so far. He and Jimmy Iovine recently inked a $3 billion deal with Apple for Beats Music, and then the Doc had the most low-key celebration ever.

9 Of Our Favorite Lines From J. Cole’s The Warm Up

by 06/15/14

There have been a lot of fun things that have come with looking back at J. Cole’s early career, ahead of “RapFix Presents: J. Cole’s The Warm Up – 5 Years Later,” airing later tonight on MTV Jams. Of course, there’s that hilarious clip of Cole (in his “Produce For Jay Z or Die Tryin’” shirt) at Aaron Reid’s party on an episode of “My Super Sweet 16,” and the equally hilarious footage of him talking trash to Hov shortly after signing his deal.

But we haven’t forgotten why we’re here: to celebrate the fifth anniversary of The Warm Up. For many, that mixtape was an introduction to J. Cole. The 22-track project provided a picture of both Jermaine Cole — a recent college graduate struggling to pay loans, raised in North Carolina but living in New York City — and J. Cole — a hungry rapper eager to prove himself.

Cole’s honesty, world view and sharp wit are just some of the elements that made The Warm Up such a standout. Here are nine of our favorite lines on its fifth anniversary.

“Sometimes play the villain, sometimes play the hero/ Sometimes I be Dilla, sometimes I be Preemo/ Sometimes I be feeling, I got a big ego/ Other times a n—a swim around like Nemo” — “Knock Knock”
If Cole’s music is nothing else, it’s a tale of a man with many sides. This line artfully paints that reality.

“Half black other half white like Kid Rock/ Try to tell it to a cizz-op/ ...

Jack White Whips Up The Crowd, Disses Rolling Stone In Blistering Bonnaroo Set

by 06/15/14

By Mary J. DiMeglio

MANCHESTER, TennesseeJack White, Saturday night’s headliner at Bonnaroo, proved why he deserves his spot as one of the hottest musical talents of his generation.

In a blistering set that stretched 30 minutes longer than its scheduled two hours, White and his band tore through material spanning from White Stripes favorites to his second solo effort, Lazaretto, which dropped Tuesday.

A chatty White — always a compelling storyteller — had lots to say to his Bonnaroo audience, with speeches that cast him in every possible light, from disgruntled artist to Everyman.

White, who lives in Nashville, just an hour up the road from the fest, kicked things off with “Icky Thump” and played a number of other beloved White Stripes tunes, including “Little Bird,” “Hello Operator,” “Ball and Biscuit” and “We’re Going to Be Friends.”

“Steady As She Goes” represented his work with the Raconteurs, and he shredded his way through cuts from Lazaretto — follow-up to 2012′s chart-topping, Grammy-nominated Blunderbuss — including the title track (heavy on distortion), “Three Women” and “Alone in My Home.”

White dissed Rolling Stone, deeming the iconic music publication “a tabloid” after a recent cover story that cast him in an unfavorable light: “Who makes music happen? Does a tabloid like Rolling Stone make music happen?” he asked the crowd. “You and I make it exist!”

The prolific songwriter also gave many, many shout-outs to everyone from legendary Tennessee artists (Elvis Presley, Loretta Lynn, George Jones and Dolly Parton) and ...

For Father’s Day, We Got You The 17 Hottest Dads In TV History

by 06/15/14

Well, it’s officially Father’s Day. Paternal love is in the air, ties and mugs are flying off the shelves like they’re cronuts, and for the lucky ones, brunch is happening. But some of us didn’t get brunch reservations. We just couldn’t. Our dads/husbands/sons/brothers/etc. took too damn long getting their schedules straight, and now we’re stuck at home, watching TV.

However, there is a silver lining, here, mostly in the fact that TV happens to house a ton of hot dads. Below, the proof:

John Winchester, The Tragic, Manly-Man Dad

He’d go to hell for you, girl.

Sandy Cohen, The Strong Moral Compass Dad

Also, the dad with The Eyebrows.

Coach Eric Taylor, The Dad Who Always Knows The Right Thing To Say

Except to maybe Julie.

Sam Bennett, The Sexy Doctor Dad

We’ll take two, please.

Mike Brady, The Clean Cut Dad

Because sometimes boring is hot.

President Fitzgerald Grant, The Dad Of The United States

We’re willing to overlook the fact that he never interacts with his kids.

Charles Ingalls, The OG Hot Dad

Little house, schmittle house. We’d live there.

Jax Teller, The Dad Whose Life Choices Will Unquestionably Have A Negative Affect On His Children

But we don’t care, because have you seen those shower scenes?

Tony Micelli, The Norm-Defying Dad

Who IS The Boss, though, really?

Rufus Humphrey, The Dad Who Raised An Emotional Terrorist

But looked damn good doing it.

Jesse Katsopolis, The Greek God Dad

We’d put up with Uncle Joey for you, man.

Cliff Huxtable, The ...

’22 Jump Street’ Almost Had A Cameo From ‘Spring Breakers’ Alien

by 06/15/14

Because the movie is set at college, and where else would you escalate the insanity of college, “22 Jump Street” ends with an epic sequence set at Spring Break. But as it turns out, the movie’s depiction of the neon-colored fantasy could have been very different, if directors Christopher Miller and Phil Lord hadn’t first seen “Spring Breakers.”

“I watched it again, and was reminded how bleak and depressing that movie is, and not glamorous about Spring Break at all,” Miller told MTV News about tackling the sequence.

“If anything we would have gone further, and darker if they hadn’t done that so well,” Lord added. “It’s impossible to beat that movie for what it is. We had the movie version of Spring Break.”

That doesn’t mean the duo didn’t lean into the yuckiness of paradise, at least a little bit.

“We had some things about how gross and smelly, and just how disgusting Spring Break really is, but they never stayed in the movie,” Miller noted.

Also, sadly, not making the movie was “Spring Breakers” standout character Alien, or at least the human being who portrays him in that movie, James Franco.

“It occurred to us at some point that he should be a professor, that was our dream,” Lord recalled. “But it wound up being that we didn’t spend as much time in classrooms as we thought we were going to.”

Hear that? You almost had Alien welcoming everyone to claaaaaassss.

“22 Jump Street” is in theaters now.

Celebrate Father’s Day With Our ‘Game Of Thrones’ Greeting Cards

by 06/15/14

Television has always had its fair share of very bad dads, from bumbling sitcom patriarchs to meth kingpin Walter White. But when it comes to the worst parents on the small screen, nobody beats “Game of Thrones” for its sheer volume of fathering failures. In the wild world of Westeros, if your dad hasn’t already been killed by an accident or an assassin, then he’s probably the biggest jerk in King’s Landing — or he’s your uncle, which is even worse.

But with the “Game of Thrones” fourth season coming to a close on Father’s Day, we’ve put together these special greeting cards to honor the dads of Westeros… whether they deserve it or not:
