‘LEGO Movie’ Building Closer To $300 Million

Everything remained "awesome" for "The LEGO Movie" over the weekend. But as for "3 Days to Kill" and "Pompeii"? Eh, not so much.

"The LEGO" movie easily retained the #1 spot at the box office, as newcomers "Pompeii" and "3 Days to Kill" both flopped. Only "Shrek 2" has enjoyed a better weekend number three than "LEGO," which snapped together another $31.5 million on its way to $275 million worldwide ($183 million of that domestically).

The the family friendly "The LEGO Movie" is the biggest flick of 2014 thus far, having now passed the $123 million haul of "Ride Along." Plus, while the Kevin Hart/Ice Cube action comedy did well commercially, it suffered from overwhelmingly bad reviews. "The LEGO Movie" has garnered the same sort of critical acclaim it's gathered at the box office.

No word yet as to whether or not the the A-list . It's a safe bet that Chris Pratt's star-power will have only grown larger by 2017 in the wake of "Guardians of the Galaxy" and the long-awaited "Jurassic World," which he was kind enough to spill about to MTV News recently.

Action vehicle "3 Days to Kill" was a dud over the weekend, debuting in a distant second place with just $12.3 million. It's the third in a recent spate of flops ("Colombiana," "From Paris with Love") produced by French filmmaker Luc Besson, director of the 1994 masterpiece, "The Professional."

"Pompeii" had an even harder time generating enthusiasm from audiences, echoing the destructive power of that ancient volcano upon Sony's $100 million budget. "Pompeii" opened with ...

Jason Collins, First Openly Gay NBA Player, Gets Standing O In Nets Debut

Jason Collins
, who made history last year when he became the first major league athlete to come out as gay during his active career was back in uniform on Sunday night for a new team.

The 35-year-old 7-footer made his debut with the Brooklyn Nets after signing a 10-day contract, making him the first openly gay athlete to play for a major American sports league. The journeyman center played 11 minutes during the first half of a 108-102 win over the Los Angeles Lakers, going scoreless and grabbing two rebound and a steal while committing five fouls.

New York Mayor Bill de Blasio applauded the signing, writing, "We welcome @jasoncolins34 to Brooklyn and applaud his courage."

New York rapper Hesta Prynn seconded that emotion, as did Collins' new friend, Michael Sam
, who recently came out on the cusp of starting his NFL career.

He also got props from Robbie Rogers, the openly gay soccer player for the Los Angeles Galaxy.

Collins has played with six different teams during his 12-year NBA career (including a seven-year stint with the New Jersey Nets) and was unsigned at the time that went public last April in a Sports Illustrated essay after finishing a stint with the Washington Wizards.

7 Rules ‘Heroes’ Must Follow To Save The Show

On Saturday, in the twilight hours of Olympics coverage, NBC dropped a bombshell: "Heroes" is making a comeback.

The Peacock network announced the return of "Heroes" in the form of "Heroes Reborn," a 13-hour event series premiering in 2015, brought to you by the show's original mastermind, Tim Kring. In a statement about the superhero series' resurrection, NBC's entertainment president Jennifer Salke said:

"The enormous impact 'Heroes' had on the television landscape when it first launched in 2006 was eye-opening. Shows with that kind of resonance don't come around often and we thought it was time for another installment. We're thrilled that visionary creator Tim Kring was as excited about jumping back into this show as we were and we look forward to all the new textures and layers Tim plans to add to his original concept. Until we get closer to air in 2015, the show will be appropriately shrouded in secrecy, but we won't rule out the possibility of some of the show's original cast members popping back in."

"Heroes" is far from the only show to make an unexpected comeback in recent memory; think back to the fourth season of "Arrested Development" on Netflix last year, or May's coming "24: Live Another Day." But was anyone really clamoring for more "Heroes," a show that suffered a dramatic drop in quality and ratings following its first season? Is a "Heroes" revival really worth the effort?

Well, maybe it is — assuming Kring and NBC can adhere to these simple rules.

1. Take a scalpel to season one. When "Heroes" premiered, it was ...

‘The Walking Dead’: Predictions For Tonight’s Episode ‘Claimed’

After two episodes spent catching up with all the survivors of the Governor's assault on the prison, "The Walking Dead" is in position again to start moving toward the final destination for Season four... Whatever that is.

And it's anyone's guess, because right now the various plot threads are as loose-ended as a pair of well-worn tighty whities. Will all roads lead to Terminus? Will Carl get pudding poisoning? Is little Lizzie going to kill the entire cast in its sleep?

In all likelihood, tonight's episode will answer none of these questions. But here are our best guesses and wildest dreams about what's in store:

1. We'll get at least one more heartwarming reunion. Clearly "The Walking Dead" is in no hurry to warm the cockles of our hearts by getting the band of survivors back together in its entirety. And boo to that, because we hate cold cockles.

But with all the prison escapees running around in more or less the same general vicinity — and with the group far too scattered right now to advance all their plotlines separately — somebody's paths are bound to cross. The only question is, who?

A Glenn-Maggie reunion is probably too much to hope for, and the Rick-Michonne-Carl confab is too interesting a dynamic to mess with by bringing another person into the mix. But Daryl, who looks like he's getting just a teensy bit tired of watching Beth cry over various corpses would probably be relieved to link up with another survivor or two.

2. Carl is going to be remarkably non-terrible. "The Walking Dead" rarely ...
