Ranking Every Super Bowl Halftime Of The Last Decade, From Fumbles To Touchdowns

There may be no bigger gig in all of showbiz. With more than 100 million pairs of eyeballs glued to TV sets across the planet, the Super Bowl halftime show is reserved for the biggest of the big.

This year the honors go to Bruno Mars and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, who, by Super Bowl standards are practically whippersnappers. You see, for the most part, the NFL has tapped big name classic rockers to entertain the masses, with the occasional detour into music from the modern era. And, in 1995, whatever this was.

We have no idea what Bruno and the boys have in store for us on Sunday, so in the meantime we'll break down the past decade of halftimes show, from craziest to snooziest. (We would have done a top 10, but we figured we should justexcuse ourselves from commenting on the 2004 show.

Here they are, from the biggest fumble to 31-point blow-out:

9. Black Eyed Peas Soup
The energy was there, the costumes were predictably bananas and BEP had cameos from Slash and Usher for their "Tron: Legacy"-themed show at Cowboys Stadium in 2011. They played the hits ("I Gotta Feeling," "Boom Boom Pow," "Let's Get It Started"), along with a beat-blasted cover of "Sweet Child O' Mine" but between will.i. am's plastic hair, the light-up Swarovski shoulder pads and neon-clad extras the whole thing was just too much. And not in the right way.

8. Paul McCartney Gets Back
Yes, he's a rock legend and former Beatle. But it was kind of hard to get pumped up ...

‘I Don’t Like Basketball:’ How Indie Bands Celebrate The Super Bowl

While this Sunday will likely see myriad people plunking themselves down with sausages and chips and beers and other things that are consumed during sports games, there's a cadre of folks out there that plan on being permanently benched. Namely, a bunch of indie bands — as well as people that call the Super Bowl "sports games."

MTV News hit up the aforementioned "bunch of indie bands" to find out what they're doing in lieu of the Super Bowl come Sunday. Some, like Honus Honus from Man Man and Kieran Ledwidge of Miracles Of Modern Science, plan on going soft and taking in the Puppy Bowl, others — like those quoted below — are pretty hardcore about hating on/avoiding the Big Game.

Check out their alternate plans below:

Danny Bengston, together PANGEA

"I can safely say will NOT be drinking Starbucks, listening to 'grunge bands' such as Nirvana, Soundgarden, Macklemore or Alice In Chains etc... We will also be sending any parcels exclusively via FED-EX instead of UPS. Oh! And lastly to top the night off we are planning on having a bonfire (since we will be on a winter tour) where we will be burning every VHS copy of 'Sleepless in Seattle' we can get our hands on!

Max Bloom, Yuck

"I won't be watching the Super Bowl because I don't really like basketball. Go Seahawks!"

Timmy Vulgar, Human Eye, Timmy's Organism, Clone Defects

"I'm going to a super 'BOWL' 'POT'luck party at my Buddy's bar in Detroit. Legalize all 50 states!!!"

‘Veronica Mars’ Stars Celebrate MTV Movie Brawl Win With A ‘Rocky’ Parody

Marshmallows rejoice!

In the wake of the "Veronica Mars" triumph over for the honor of MTV Movie Brawl 2014 Champion, Jason Dohring and Ryan Hansen released this video showing, well, exactly how they killed the vamps.

In a "Rocky"-inspired montage that would make Sly Stallone proud, the two "Mars" castmembers show off their exercise routine of finger pushups and jump-rope, both of which clearly helped them win the competition.

Oh, and it turns out marshmallows are the new garlic, which is a shame for any vampires who just want to sit back and enjoy a good s'more.

Post-montage, the two had some kind words for their fans and their competition.

"We just wanted to say thank you very much for all the voting," said Hansen. "I know Ryan appreciates it, and I appreciate."

They even gave a plug for "Vampire Academy," which opens February 7, and which "Mars" beat in the finals.

"They gave us a tough battle," said Dohring. "My finger, I had a cramp for a while, but good thing I was working it out."

"Veronica Mars" comes out March 14.

You Know What Lex Luthor Thinks Is Cool? A Billion Dollars

Call him hipster Luthor, call him Michael Cera, call him whatever you want -- it's not going to change the fact that Jesse Eisenberg has been cast as supervillain Lex Luthor in the upcoming "Batman vs.Superman" movie. Raise your hand if you saw that one coming.

Once the shock of this Friday afternoon casting announcement wore off, one thing came abundantly clear: Eisenberg has played this dude before. He may not have had the gleaming bald pate Luthor is so famous for, nor did he don a fancy suit, but Eisenberg portrayed the aloof villain in 2010's "The Social Network." Except last time, he grabbed a hoodie and played the fictionalized version of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg.

To prove our theory, we put key "The Social Network" quotes into Luthor's mouth. And guess what — they totally fit. The scathing remarks of Zuckerberg, Sean Parker and co. fit perfectly with Lex's pissy repartee. And after all, we think Mr. Luthor would agree that what's cool is a billion dollars.

‘That Awkward Moment’ When… Michael B. Jordan Goes Full-Frontal?

You know you're in for some awkward moments when Zac Efron, Miles Teller, and Michael B. Jordan play a game of "Most Likely To."

Josh Horowitz leads the three stars of the new movie in the game in a brand-new "After Hours," and things get pretty interesting really quick.

Michael B. Jordan says he's most likely to cry in a movie, but under protests from Miles and Zac.

"I cried at your movie!" Teller said.

"You made me cry twice in your movie," Zac said. We can only assume they meant "Fruitvale Station" and not "Red Tails."

Michael also claims to be most likely to go full-frontal in a movie, though according to Zac, anyone yearning to see more of Michael just has to go on the Internet.

"He's already trying to hide this, 'cause they're out on the Internet," says Zac. Michael doesn't deny it, pleading "Don't look for those."

Zac reveals that he's most likely to be in a "Star Wars" movie, which is about right, considering he actually met with J.J. Abrams and company regarding a role in Episode VII.

The former "High School Musical" star also loves karaoke, and he, Miles and Michael break out into a mumbled cover of the classic song "September."

Check out the young stars' answers in full in the video, and watch them on the big screen in "That Awkward Moment," out now in theaters.

Beyonce, Dylan Is Still Waiting On That Cheesecake

From Danity Kane to Day26, MTV's "Making the Band" was responsible for assembling some massive musical acts. And this Saturday (February 1) at 2:30 p.m. ET/PT, MTV's "Retromania: Hip-Hop" will be catching up with one of the most memorable castmates from the show: Dylan from Da Band.

While the rapper made the group for his musical abilities, he became a reality TV favorite during an episode when Sean "Diddy" Combs assigned the show's hopefuls to walk from midtown Manhattan to Brooklyn for a cheesecake from Junior's restaurant.

While Dylan was resistant at first — "Is this man trying to play me?" he remembers thinking — he ultimately made the trek across the Brooklyn Bridge for Diddy's dessert.

"[At the time I was] not realizing the whole purpose of the cake, the cake equals dollars, the cake is your goals and everything else in life, so it's like, what are you willing to do, to get that cake," Dylan said. "And after the whole thing I don't even think Diddy had the cake, Beyoncé actually had the studio session after that and Diddy gave the cheesecake to Beyoncé."

Since the show, Dylan has parted ways with the other members of the group — "we don't keep in touch as people might think," he said — but has nothing but love for them and his former mentor.

So what's next for the Bad Boy alum? He's still working on his music, of course.

"I've already released [several] mix tapes and done performances, shows in the Caribbean ...

Kid Cudi Revs Us Up For ‘Need For Speed’ Super Bowl Spot

Start your engines.

If wasn't already on your radar, it will be this Sunday when what's sure to be an action-packed trailer debuts during the Super Bowl.

Scott Mescudi, better known to hip-hop fans as Kid Cudi, co-stars with "Breaking Bad" star Aaron Paul, and the recording artist told Josh Horowitz that the movie will not disappoint.

"As soon as you're in the theater, you're on a ride," Cudi said. "It makes going to the movies fun again."

The actor/rapper added that fans were ecstatic after a preview screening of the movie: "It's a beautiful thing to see people to say, 'Yo, you made me laugh.' It's a different experience."

Mescudi also had nothing but kind words for his co-star Paul.

"He's a genuine dude," Mescudi said. "He comes from humble beginnings. He worked hard to have everything he has right now. ... It's just awesome."

Since "Need for Speed" is an action movie, Mescudi got to experience some of the crazy stunts first-hand, doing them in the air with "two different helicopters and one Cessna plane ... it was a bit nerve-racking."

But he overcame those nerves. "I flew that plane," Mescudi laughed. "You're damn right I did."

Catch "Need for Speed," out March 14, and see the new trailer for the movie during the Super Bowl on Sunday.
