Will ‘The Walking Dead’ Cure The Zombie Apocalypse In Season 5?

by 21 mins ago

Midway through the fourth season of AMC’s “The Walking Dead,” viewers met a trio extremely important to the development of the show: Abraham (Michael Cudlitz), Rosita (Christian Serratos) and Eugene (Josh McDermitt). Why important? Because Eugene knows how to cure the zombie apocalypse.

Or so he says.

Unfortunately for the entire world, the cast of the show opens season five trapped in a train car at the decidedly unsafe sanctuary of Terminus. So will they make it out alive – and to Washington D.C. to help turn the Walker tide – by season five’s end? To find out, we talked to the trio themselves during our exclusive set visit earlier this year.

What do you think? Will they make it to Washington D.C.? And can Eugene really help cure the zombie plague?

Writer/Editor at MTV News. You can follow him on Twitter, but not in real life because that would be weird.

Meet The First Gay Couple To Get Married In Idaho

by 3 mins ago

Five same-sex couples got legally married in Idaho on Friday (October 10) after the state issued its very first gay marriage licenses.

The Idaho Statesman reports that Tabitha Simmons and Katherine Sprague, who own a comic book store together, were first in line at the courthouse to formally tie the knot.

The two women have considered themselves married since they held an unofficial ceremony in 1991, but they were thrilled to have their union officially recognized by the state they call home.

LGBTQ activists and their allies have made serious progress this year in the fight for equal marriage rights, both in Idaho and nationwide.

In May, a federal judge overturned Idaho’s ban on same-sex marriages, but Governor C. L. Otter convinced the appeals court to issue a stay. Last Friday, though, one courthouse got the green light to begin issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples. The Latah County Courthouse issued six marriage licenses, and five couples were married on the courthouse lawn the same day.

Other county clerks wouldn’t issue marriage licenses until the stay on gay marriages was officially dissolved, and the Latah County Courthouse had to stop at the end of the day on Friday. It remains to be seen whether more courthouses will be able to give out licenses when they reopen on Tuesday. (Monday is Columbus Day, a federal holiday.)

Simmons and Sprague said they were proud to be the first legally wed gay couple in Idaho, but ...

This Is What A ‘Maze Runner,’ ‘Hunger Games’ & ‘Divergent’ Mash-Up Looks Like

by 19 mins ago

From the director of “The Maze Runner,” a producer of “Divergent” and a casual fan of “The Giver” comes the latest film adaptation of a young-adult novel you don’t want to miss. OK, actually it’s a parody trailer that aired on last night’s (October 11) episode of “Saturday Night Live,” but come on. Play along.

This post-apocalyptic movie finds Pete Davidson thrown into the Meadow Fields on Category Day, where Sorties are sorted into groups like the Emotionals, the Foodies, the Hasidics and the House of Gryffindor. Elsewhere, the Lurkies, um, lurk in a bunch of super-lurky places.

Adapted from a YA novel written entirely in the comments section of a “Hunger Games” trailer, “The Group Hopper” sees Davidson as Thehero, or “The Hero,” rising up against a horned and heavily made-up Bill Hader (à la Effie Trinket meets Maleficent), as he leads a group of fellow young adults to safety with the power of his Zoomerang necklace.

“The Group Hopper,” coming never to a theater near no one.

Luke Evans Tells Us Why ‘Dracula Untold’ Needed To Be Told

by 4 mins ago

You think you know the story of the world’s most famous vampire (who was not played by Robert Pattinson), but you have no idea. “Dracula Untold” hit theaters this weekend (October 10), and the film’s star Luke Evans explained to MTV News why the fanged one’s story was the perfect tale to launch Universal’s monster movie franchise.

“It’s the untold story of this most famous literary vampire,” Evans said. “We know about the Bram Stoker story — this man, this creature, lives in Transylvania in a castle, but what we don’t really know so much about is how he became that creature.”

Indeed, “Untold” takes an entirely new spin on Dracula’s story, combining it with the real-life tale of Vlad the Impaler.

“He’s the man that inspired Bran Stoker 400 years later to write the story of Dracula,” Evans continued. “We start with a human story, about this man who is a father and a leader and a king and a husband — a loving husband — who has a very dark past, who is now fighting for the safety of his family and his people. It’s a very human story, which has never been done before.”

“Dracula Untold” is in theaters now.

‘The Walking Dead’: Danai Gurira Teases Michonne Will ‘Shed The Armor’ In Season 5

by 3 mins ago

Michonne on “The Walking Dead” has gone through an incredible transformation since her introduction at the beginning of season three – or at least since actress Danai Gurira embodied the role after her shadowy first appearance at the end of season two. She’s gone from angry, monosyllabic badass to a mother figure to Carl Grimes (Chandler Riggs) who occasionally even laughs and smiles… While still being a total badass.

And when MTV News caught up with Gurira on the set of the show earlier this year during our exclusive set visit, we found that she was also enjoying this change.

“Michonne is definitely going through what I’ve always said is a becoming, and it really is fascinating to step into what that means,” Gurira said. “It’s kind of fun to see this woman shed certain pieces of armor, and open up, but still have other really steel, solidified pieces of self inside of her that are still quite formidable and interesting.”

And though Gurira won’t have much time to explore Michonne during the non-stop action of the season five premiere on AMC, October 12 (seriously, it’s intense), the rest of the season will continue to open up the katana wielding warrior.

“I’m having a really good time exploring her and getting to know her,” Gurira continued, “and I hope the audience does the same.”

Are you looking forward to Michonne opening up more in season five of “The Walking Dead?”

Jessie J Gives Vocals, Vocals & More Vocals On ‘Ain’t Been Done’ Acoustic

“Ain’t Been Done” serves as the opening track on the “Burnin’ Up” singer’s third studio album, Sweet Talker, which is expected to drop this coming Tuesday, October 14.

Premiere: Watch Shad Da God’s ‘Pesos Queso’ Video

by 4 mins ago

Sometimes you want money. Sometimes you want cheese. Sometimes you need both. For Shad Da God and Young Thug on “Pesos Queso,” that time is now.

Directed by Philly Fly Boy, the video — which premiered on shaddagod.mtv.com on Saturday (October 11) — drips with fame and luxury. Shad Da God is a rising Hustle Gang signee, and several of his influential friends drop by to show support.

Birdman and Rich Homie Quan join their Rich Gang compatriot Thugger onstage at a packed concert, inscrutably pouring vodka on their watches. T.I. strides down a hallway sipping a styrofoam cup and laughs it up with his protégé in a studio. We’re treated to several close-up shots of substantial bank rolls, Maseratis and Maybachs. Thug wears Yves Saint Laurent.

He kicks off the track with a verse of immeasurably sticky sing-song hooks: “Therefore I gave her $2500 for a quaaaaaarterrrr,” he warbles, transforming a prosaic line into a melodious shard of sound. Planet Thug long ago kicked off the shackles of gravity and traditional song structure, setting off into the uncharted void. He’s never seemed more like a star.

“Life’s good,” intones Shad. Judging from the lifestyle on display here, he’s telling the truth.

‘Daredevil’: Everything We Saw At Marvel’s New York Comic-Con Panel

by 40 mins ago

Unlike “Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” which entered the New York Comic-Con arena as an known property, Marvel and Netflix’s 2015 debuting “Daredevil” is a bit of a question mark.

Will it wipe out the mixed feelings from 2003′s Ben Affleck starring take on the blind superhero? And more importantly, will it successfully help kick off the series of shows the companies have planned over the next few years, including “Luke Cage,” “Jessica Jones” and “Iron Fist” – all leading to an “Avengers” style team-up called “The Defenders?”

Before that, though, marvel TV head Jeph Loeb took a moment to shut down some rumors. Though he noted they wouldn’t be talking about other series down the road, he added, “There’s an awful lot of stuff out there on the internet on Jessica Jones and Luke Cage. Neither one of those roles have been cast.”

After that, we watched the first scene, where Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll) is attacked by a thug – only for that thug to be attacked by Matt Murdock decked out in black clothing, and a half mask/hat over his eyes.

The scene wasn’t hyper-stylized, but did have an air of the comic booky (Loeb noted it was based in part of artist John Romita Jr.’s work on the character), with Murdock fighting in and out of shadows, eventually crashing through a window to the alleyway below.

Then several actors were brought out – including newly announced guest stars playing the villainous Owl, newsman Ben Urich and The Kingpin’s ...

Gucci Mane Actually Has A Lot To Say About ‘Speed Bumps’

by 25 mins ago

Gucci Mane has an infinite talent for turning prosaic subject matter into poetry. Case in point: “Speed Bumps,” a song he’s shared off his upcoming Trap God 3 project.

Gucci elegizes the common speed bump, transforming mounds of cautionary plastic into metaphorical indicators of narcotic largesse. “I’m in the kitchen tryna make it do the long jump,” growls Gucci on the chorus. “Big knots in my jeans look like speed bumps.”

Producer Mike Will Made It provides the thundering foundation for Gucci’s vivid imagination. If your car contains suitable woofers, consider this song an invitation to go for a ride. Obeying speed bumps, of course.

Gucci Mane’s also revives his longstanding beef with Jeezy, which extends back to a 2005 misunderstanding involving Gucci and Jeezy’s hit single together, “Icy.” Almost a decade later, Gucci addresses their conflict with typically memorable imagery — and perhaps a tinge of bittersweet nostalgia:

“Ain’t no secret, you n—-s know that I don’t f–k with Jeezy
It was tragic, wars everywhere, they say the boy was bleedin’
It was easy, I eat your crew up like some Reese’s Pieces
This is skreet sh-t, so once you say this sh-t you can’t delete it.”

Trap God 3 is but another drop in the torrential volume of music Gucci has released from prison this year. Fittingly, the 1017 Brick Squad label bosses plan to drop it on October 17.
