Coldplay‘s Chris Martin made a surprise appearance at the Hollywood Bowl last night (October 3) as he joined Kings of Leon onstage for two songs of their L.A. concert.

The Nashville rock band had already played through most of the second-to-last concert on the U.S. leg of their Mechanical Bull tour when they surprised their audience by inviting Martin onstage.

Martin played piano and sang on “Talihina Sky”, a hidden track from Kings of Leon’s 2003 debut album Youth and Young Manhood that they rarely play live. He also played on “Notion,” the chart-topping single from the 2009 album Only By the Night.

Martin’s new girlfriend Jennifer Lawrence, who he recently started dating after his split from his wife, actress Gwyneth Paltrow, was apparently in attendance backstage. The 24-year-old “Hunger Games” star has reportedly also been spotted hanging out with her BF at rehearsals . Last month, she sat in the balcony for Coldplay’s concert at the Ace Hotel in L.A. She may be joining the band on the forthcoming tour to support their new album, Ghost Stories.

This isn’t the first time that Martin has joined Kings of Leon onstage. Their friendship apparently started in March, when the Coldplay frontman took the stage during Kings of Leon’s set at Radio One’s One Big Weekend in Glasgow. The impromptu rock supergroup played “Fans” together.

If you’re not careful, it might even happen to you with the much-anticipated and twisty-turny David Fincher film “Gone Girl.” Though you’ve probably already read the bestselling Gillian Flynn novel of the same name, there’s a (slim) chance you haven’t yet, and don’t know what’s going to happen.

In the spirit of spoilers, MTV News hit the red carpet and asked the cast of “Gone Girl” — including Ben Affleck, Neil Patrick Harris, Tyler Perry, Casey Wilson and more — and asked them about the worst time they had the ending of something spoiled for them. Check out the clip below.

The long-awaited mystery thriller “Gone Girl” finally hits theaters this weekend, but a brand new project involving the film’s major players is racking up its own major buzz.

“Gone Girl” director David Fincher — who’s also the master behind flicks like “The Social Network,” “Fight Club,” and “Seven” — recently confirmed that he will be directing the entire first season of HBO’s upcoming series “Utopia.”

As if that news weren’t awesome enough, it has now been revealed that “Gone Girl” author Gillian Flynn is joining the project as a writer, and she’ll be penning every episode in the first season.

Flynn told Buzzfeed that after working with Fincher on “Gone Girl,” the decision to collaborate with him again was a no-brainer.

“I’d pretty much signed off on ‘Gone Girl,’ and I got the message from David — it was a text — ‘Hey, got this TV thing. It’ll take up the next year of your life. Are you in?’” Flynn said. “I was like, ‘of course I’m in. You don’t even have to tell me what it is. I’m in.’”

“Utopia” is slated to begin production in 2015, and the premise sounds just as gripping as “Gone Girl.” It’s a conspiracy thriller follows a group of people who find themselves in possession of the manuscript to a sequel of a cult graphic novel. The show is based on a UK series of the same name.

The cult classic 2001 film “Super Troopers” is about to get an update. Steve Lemme, one of the movie’s original stars and member of the the Broken Lizard comedy troupe confirmed to US Weekly that the loveable Vermont state troopers will return to their prankster ways in a sequel to the film.

“You know, it was a combination of having to settle some of the legal disputes about making a sequel, while also negotiating terms for it,” Lemme told Us Weekly. “The fans have been asking for it for a while, but we were finally able to package everything together. Fox is going to distribute the film, but we needed to raise the money for it, with a minimum budget of $27 million, which we’ve just about raised. There may be a Kickstarter launched to raise the last little bit.”

A Kickstarter campaign would probably work wonders in a situation like this—imagine what kind of goofy prizes the troopers could give away to their backers! Audience involvement in the filming perhaps? A chance to help play jokes on pulled over civilians? We’ll keep dreaming.

Back in 2006 when Lemme spoke to MTV News about the possibility of continuing the “Super Troopers” legacy, he said the group was pondering either some sort of prequel or a follow-up. But this new film is definitely a sequel.

Power duo Lena Dunham and Jack Antonoff have been going strong for two years, but don’t expect to see them walking down the aisle anytime soon…at least not until the U.S. takes some major legal action.

The “Girls” actress revealed to SiriusXM radio host Howard Stern that although things are getting serious between her and her rocker beau — they recently moved in together and she even referred to him as her “life partner” — they’re holding out on marriage for now. The reason? Dunham says they want to wait until her younger sister Grace can legally wed as well.

“We’re not against marriage, but I wanna wait until it’s something… my sister’s gay and it just doesn’t feel good to me to do something she can’t do,” Dunham explained. “She can do it in some places but not all places.”

Beyonce‘s Instagram is a haven for all things girly, floral and trendy. Queen Bey manages to be one step ahead of every trend, whether it be flash tattoos, wearing a skirt over pants, or y’know, simultaneously making both marriage and feminism seem like super cool, desirable things.

So, yesterday (October 3) when she posted an Instagram of herself wearing a flower crown—a trend which has received mixed reviews in the past—we knew that they were about to become cool again.

The large, tasteful white roses are a far cry from the daisy chains that have populated music festivals and EDM concerts of late, but will probably have girls of all ages scrambling to re-create Bey’s floral tiara:

It’s almost time.

One Direction‘s “Where We Are” concert film will be here shortly… and will be gone before you know it. Now opening its third set of dates due to demand — October 11, 12 and 13 — the film will bring 1D’s world tour to theaters near you. And with seven days to go until that glorious weekend, we’ve got two exclusive clips – and five exclusive stills – here for you on MTV News!

First, this sneak peek at the live performance of “Little Things” is just a smidgen of all the backstage access, onstage selfies and exclusive interviews Directioners will get with the movie. Look closely, and you can almost see a twinkle in Zayn’s eye as fans sing along.

Along with full footage of 1D’s Milan show, the movie also gives fans a 15-minute interview with the group. In this clip from their sit-down, Louis, Zayn, Harry, Liam and Niall reveal their proudest moment. Turns out, it’s the VMAs, where they won three Moonmen (we’re flattered, really).

Niall even talks about how they ate hotdogs unprofessionally in front of Justin Timberlake. As we learned in their book excerpt, Niall’s a big fan.
