Last Night’s ‘Walking Dead’ Casualty Is All Smiles In Adorbs BTS Pics

by 6 mins ago

Who says living in the zombie apocalypse of “The Walking Dead” isn’t fun? Though death and dismemberment lay along every path, at least the actors on the show are having a good time – as this behind the scene picture from last night’s (October 26) episode clearly shows.

Spoilers beyond this point.

The Walking DeadGene Page/AMC

Yep, that’s good old Bob Stookey (Lawrence Gilliard Jr.) goofing off with Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green) mere moments after his half-eaten body was dropped off at Father Gabriel’s (Seth Gilliam) church.

It’s neat not just to see the usually dour cast cracking a smile, but also how they pulled off that impressive severed leg effect on Bob.

And Gilliard – despite his departure from the show – was all smiles, snapping selfies with cast-member Alanna Masterson, and hugging Martin-Green goodbye:

Daaaaw. Poor BobBQ, but we expect a bright future ahead for Gilliard. Perhaps he could star in “How I Meat Your Mother.”

‘The Walking Dead’: Greg Nicotero Is Bringing The Dead To Life

by 1 hour ago

The Walking Dead” is a monstrous franchise, and one of its hydra-like heads is Greg Nicotero. The makeup and visual effects guru is an essential asset of the AMC television show, creating the distinct look and feel of the undead walkers… And he’s branched out into producing and directing, including the incredible season five premiere.

But “Walking Dead” isn’t just on TV and in comics… Nicotero is also bringing the dead to life every day until November 1 at Universal Studios Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights. The terrifying nighttime attraction features key scenes from the fourth season of the show, as well as some original scares throughout the “maze.”

With Halloween Horror Nights well under way, MTV News got on the phone with Nicotero, as well as Director of Entertainment – Creative Development for NBC/Universal Themeparks Michael Aiello – to talk about what went into bringing the show to literal life… As well as some hints at the “Walking Dead” spinoff, and a possible movie:

MTV News: “The Walking Dead” has been part of Halloween Horror Nights for a couple years now, but Greg, what was it like being involved this time? What touches did you bring from the show?

Greg Nicotero: Well, you know Mike Aiello and I have collaborated pretty well in the last uh, this the what, third year?

Michael Aiello: Third year!

Nicotero: We liked the idea of taking the greatest hits of season four, so while we’re shooting the show we have these highlights… You know, we have the ...

In the movie, Kunis is Jupiter Jones, a regular old Earth girl who finds out she’s actually secretly a galactic queen, and next in line to rule the entire planet. She’s not just Jupiter Jones… She’s Queen Jupiter.

She finds this out from Tatum’s Caine Wise, a genetically engineered hunter tasked with protecting Jupiter from forces that would prefer not to have her in charge of the planet’s destiny.

The figures all stand 3.75″ tall, and come in a window display box. They’re for ages five and up, and as mentioned will hit stores in January. Now when can we get those “Magic Mike” figures we’ve been asking for?

Here’s Who Andy Serkis Might Be Playing In ‘Avengers: Age Of Ultron’

by 6 mins ago

Back on June 30, news hit that mo-cap genius Andy Serkis (“The Hobbit,” “Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes”) hadn’t just provided a little coaching for Mark Ruffalo’s new take on The Hulk in “Avengers: Age Of Ultron,” he also had a role in the film.

At the time, we speculated that Serkis could be doing a mo-cap role, or a live action role, but didn’t have any more details than that. And now, with the trailer for “Age Of Ultron” hitting last night (October 22), we finally know he’s playing this guy:

Andy Serkis - Age Of UltronMarvel/Disney

So who is that guy? He’s clearly important enough to the film to appear in a (albeit, brief) scene in the first trailer. And unless Serkis is mocapping himself, he’s appearing in chin-bearded flesh in the movie. Here are five possibilities.

1. Ulysses Klaw

KlawMarvel Comics

This is the internet favorite theory, given his resemblance to the human form of the sonically powered villain Klaw in the trailer. It would make sense given the possibly spoilery rumors that Ultron will be searching for the rare metal vibranium in the movie, the same material that created Captain America’s shield.

Why is this important? Because Klaw was a regular guy who was transformed into solid sound by vibranium after trying to steal the substance. And perhaps more importantly, Klaw has been one of the most consistent villains to antagonize hero the Black Panther, who has ...

‘Gossip Girl’ Crossed Over With ‘The O.C.’ On ‘Gotham’ And It Was Amazing

by 26 mins ago

There’s the crossovers we were expecting to happen on FOX’s “Gotham” – including one with The CW’s “Arrow” that kind of, sort of happened – and then there’s the epic one that happened on last night’s (October 20) episode, “Viper,” when finally, “Gossip Girl” and “The O.C.” crossed over.

Seriously.

Okay, not so seriously. But “Gotham” stars Ben McKenzie, and despite the actor playing the city’s most heroic detective Jim Gordon, and having had many, many roles since, in our hearts McKenzie will always be Ryan Atwood from “The O.C.”

So imagine our surprise when last night’s “Gotham” featured a one-scene visit from Margaret Colin as a lawyer helping the Gotham City Police Department solve a case involving a deadly drug. The reason this is significant? Colin played Eleanor Waldorf, Blair Waldorf’s mother on “Gossip Girl.”

So, Ryan Atwood finally met Eleanor Waldorf. They had this whole conversation about the drug Viper, and what it was doing to Gotham City, and who caused it… And the whole time, we were just thinking, “Why are you not talking about this?”

2014 Tony Awards - ArrivalsMike Coppola/Getty Images for Tony Awards Productions

Look, we get that it would have made no logical sense in the context of the show, but how do you get Ryan and Eleanor sitting down together, and not have them at least hint at how Blair is now married to Seth Cohen IRL? Come on, it’s not rocket science.

So with that in mind, ...

Never Fear, ‘Gotham’: Heroes Are On The Way

by 10 mins ago

Things look pretty grim for “Gotham,” even in its early days. Villains are gathering, the mobs are warring and even the city’s one good cop, future Commissioner James Gordon (Ben McKenzie) is having trouble staying on the side of angels.

But don’t worry, Gothamites: heroes are on their way.

That’s what MTV News found out when we caught up with the cast of FOX’s hit show at New York Comic-Con. With so much focus on the villains – and they’re great ones, from Penguin, to Catwoman, to the upcoming serial killer Zsasz – what about the heroes? Sure, we’ve got Gordon, but the young Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) won’t be Batman for another, say, 12 seasons or so.

“There’s no choice for people but to take law into their own hands when you can’t trust the law,” executive producer Danny Cannon said. “When the lunatics start to run the asylum, the strongest lunatic will win.”

To find out what McKenzie, as well as stars Donal Logue, Robin Lord Taylor and Erin Richards have to reveal about the upcoming influx of vigilantes, watch above.

‘The Walking Dead’: All The Tastiest Moments On ‘Strangers’

by 13 mins ago

Our favorite zombie apocalypse survivors on “The Walking Dead” may have made it out of the cannibal enclave known as “Terminus” alive – and for the first time in nearly a year are all in the same place, at the same time – but that doesn’t mean anywhere is ever, truly safe.

Here’s all the biggest, most jaw-dropping moments on “Strangers:”

What About Bob?

Sonequa Martin-Green as SashaGene Page/AMC

Let’s skip to the end and ask the biggest question(s): what’s up with Bob Stookey (Lawrence Gilliard Jr.)? He spends most of the episode happier than a non-central Disney cartoon character, kissing his girlfriend Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green) and joking around with everyone.

Then he gets sucked underwater by a bloated, gross walker, and like some sort of reverse baptism ends up dark, disturbed and removed. At first we thought he was bitten – something that was only affirmed when Bob wandered out of an otherwise happy gathering, kissed Sasha goodbye and ended up crying in front of a tree.

Then he gets knocked out, the tree turns out to have another of those strange markings we glimpsed during the post-credits Morgan scene on “No Sanctuary,” and… Well, then something else happens to Bob. We’ll get to that in a moment.

“A Man’s Got To Eat”
BRB, vomiting forever. Gareth (Andrew J. West) and his now comic-book appropriately named group of Hunters are back, and they’ve captured Bob Stookey. Explaining that Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and his group took away ...

Emma Stone Hilariously Explains How She Kept Screwing Up ‘Birdman’

by 10 mins ago

The currently in theaters “Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)” would be a weird enough concept – Michael Keaton plays a former superhero movie star given one last chance to revive his most famous role, mirroring real life – without one of the most ambitious conceits in movie history: director Alejandro González Iñárritu filmed the whole thing in one take.

Or at least, the 119 minute movie which co-stars Emma Stone, Zach Galifianakis, Edward Norton and more looks like it was filmed in one take due to some judicious camera cuts. Still, even with the faux-one-shot, Iñárritu still would film the long tracking shots in four minute chunks or more, something virtually unheard of in today’s quick-cut world.

And because of that? Emma Stone kept screwing up the movie. A lot.

“It was hard. It was definitely hard,” Stone told MTV News about Iñárritu’s unique technique. “And I screwed it up, quite a few times. And I was just so sick to my stomach, waiting for them to do the scene, hearing how good this take was going to be and then coming in, and going around the corner too fast and ruining it.”

Given the ambition of the film, you’d imagine that perhaps the cast and crew would coddle a big movie star like Stone, understanding that’s it’s difficult to keep your motivation and character for minutes at a time, let alone nail your blocking without fail.

Nope.

“Well, Alejandro goes, ‘You’re ruining the movie!’ and then you go, ‘Oh, ...

‘The Walking Dead’: Chad Coleman Explains Why Tyreese Is The Barack Obama Of The Group

by 15 mins ago

Tyreese (Chad Coleman) had a problem. A huge problem, even taking into account the fact that he lives in the zombie-infested world of “The Walking Dead.” The hammer-wielding badass, when season five began, had lost his nerve. Though it’s a world based on violence, the group was facing down cannibals (as well as the living dead), he was unable to kill anyone himself.

But by the end of the season premiere, Tyreese was driven to beat one of the denizens of the human-flesh hungry “sanctuary” of Terminus to death… Or at least, that’s what he told Carol (Melissa McBride) when the whole group reunited at the train tracks.

Except, that’s not exactly what happened.

When we talked to Coleman at the MTV studios in New York, the actor told us that through some creative editing, Tyreese’s choice may not be as clear as it seemed at the end of episode one… And coming up, things continue to be a murky grey for his character.

In fact, as we found out, Tyreese seems to be stuck clearly in the middle of the group of survivors, not quite on one side or another. When we asked Coleman what his role would going forward, he was at first hesitant to elaborate.

“I have to be careful, because they will chop off my head if I give anything away,” Coleman said laughing – and referencing the fact that his character does in fact get his head chopped off in the comics. Don’t worry, that event ...
