This Retired Knicks Player Knows Who Biggie Called Out On ‘I Got A Story To Tell’

by 1 hour ago

It’s one of the great moments in hip-hop storytelling: The Nororious B.I.G.’s “I Got A Story To Tell,” where he gives a detailed account of sleeping with a woman and then robbing her man — who, he said, was “a player off the New York Knicks” — when he came home. But there’s one question that’s been left to lyrical lore: Which player is he talking about?

It’s often been rumored that the guy Big’s rhyming about is John Starks, a now-retired former fan-favorite. But on an episode of the ESPN show “Highly Questionable,” Starks said not only is it not about him, but he knows who it was about.

“That wasn’t me,” he said. “First and foremost, I’m not 6’5″; I’m 6’2″, actually.” The height comment is a reference to the late rapper’s line on the Life After Death track where he says he was at the house of, “One of them 6’5″ n—as.”

“I know who it was about, but I’m not gonna say,” Starks added, with a smile. “I can’t tell you. But I just want to get it clear that it wasn’t about me.”

There’s actually been some digging and research done on this question before, but a sure answer still eludes us. What we know now is that Starks insists it wasn’t about him.

“I had never met Biggie before.”

Nick Jonas Takes Us On A Psychedelic Ride In ‘Jealous’ Video: Watch Now

by 11 mins ago

Nick Jonas said his video for “Jealous” would be a little “out there,” and he wasn’t kidding.

On the day of his birthday, the pop star decided to throw his own b-day bash inviting fans to join him at New York’s South Street Seaport to debut the artistic, colorful and truly trippy video for the latest single off his upcoming self-titled album (out November 11).

Directed by artist Peter Tunney, who incorporated his artwork into the video, the clip takes viewers on a psychedelic ride (hence Nick’s encouragement to engage in recreational activities while watching) as he hops on a motorcycle, shows off his MMA fighting skills and gets a bit envious of all the attention his girlfriend, Olivia Culpo, is receiving from some other guys.

“I had a specific experience that sort of inspired me to write this song and got the ball rolling in that sense, and it’s not limited to that by any means,” Nick recently told MTV News. “And this video is about getting a little bit deeper and opening the conversation up and just having fun while we do it.”

And it certainly seems like they had a lot of fun, as the video features Olivia stripping down to her lingerie to play the cello in the clouds, Nick playing piano with a little old lady and getting beat pretty bad at a game of basketball.

But, if you look closely, the video, which shows a completely different side of ...

Beyonce Reveals The Sketches Behind Her On The Run Tour Paris Wardrobe

by 13 mins ago

Even though Beyonce and Jay Z’s On the Run tour ended last weekend, we’ll soon be able to relive it again and again thanks to HBO, which will be premiering a special documentary this Saturday (September 20) at 9 p.m. EST.

To get us ready for the doc, Bey shared some sketches of her OTR wardrobe. The new additions come largely courtesy of Versace, the brand that gifted us all with the immortal image of Queen B. and Nicki Minaj performing together in matching looks in Paris. As we’re well aware by now, Bey loves a good bodysuit and Versace, along with Givenchy, came through with new options.

The lucky Paris attendees got not only a performance from Nicki, but also a look at Bey in this Versace bodysuit. It’s leather with sheer paneling and, essentially, garter belts across her midsection—some people have all the luck, eh?

Beyonce also went with a bad-chick look for her long-sleeve peplum bodysuit. According to the description, Versace dubs the look “Bandit” Beyonce: “Strong and powerful; perfect for an incredible opening in Paris!”

Things then take a turn toward the sparkling in this Versace bodysuit. Why is there a pole in the sketch? You know what? I don’t actually care. After her Mrs. Carter World Show tour I didn’t think Bey could get any shiner than ...

DC And Warner Bros. Throw ‘Lucifer’ Out Of Heaven, And Straight Onto TV

by 27 mins ago

DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. TV have already launched “Arrow,” “The Flash,” and “iZombie” on The CW, “Gotham” on FOX, “Constantine” on NBC, and added a possible “Titans” series in the works for TNT. But their next move is about to send the Vertigo comic book universe straight to Hell, as FOX has ordered a pilot for long-running title “Lucifer.”

Produced by Aggressive Mediocrity in association with Warner Bros. Television, the put pilot – meaning it’s already been agreed to be put on air – is a one-hour drama Executive Produced and writer by Tom Kapinos (“Californication,” “Dawson’s Creek”) for FOX.

Here’s the logline:

“Bored and unhappy as the Lord of Hell, Lucifer resigns his throne and abandons his kingdom for the gorgeous, shimmering insanity of Los Angeles, where he opens an exclusive piano bar called Lux.”

The comic book spun out of fellow Vertigo/DC Comic “Sandman” (which is currently being developed for a film version by Joseph Gordon-Levitt), and also has deep ties to the comic “Constantine” is based on. It’s doubtful the two will cross over, as they are other networks.

Stay tuned to MTV News as more breaks.

That’s right. Tay decided to let the cat out of the bag in New York City and carry around her kitten, who seemed unfazed by photographers.

Here’s How To Get Your Hands On Those ‘Back To The Future II’ Air Mags

by 27 mins ago

Good news for sneakerheads and fans of Back to the Future. Universal Studios has officially OK’ed a pair of replica Nike Air Mags just in time for Halloween and your inevitable Marty McFly costume. I’m sure you’ve been waiting on this news since the movie’s release in 1989, and once again in 2011 when a small batch of the sneakers (1,500 pairs to be exact) were created by Nike and auctioned off on eBay for charity. All proceeds went toward the the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.

This go-round, they’re coming from Halloween Costumes, which finally got the licensing deal from Universal Studios. The sneakers feature light-up soles, an adjustable velcro strap, a USB cable to charge your shoes (~modern~), and a collector’s box to house them. Since these aren’t the Nike-endorsed/created kicks, there isn’t any Nike branding on the sneakers (not even so much as a swoosh to be found). Also, these don’t have power laces. But might they be available in 2015? Fingers crossed.

The sneakers can be found on the Halloween Costumes site for $100, but—gasp—they’re currently listed as “sold out.” But we knew better than to take no for an answer when it comes to sneakers/Halloween and so we gave Halloween Costumes a call. Here’s what we found out:

They’re not really sold out. Halloween Costumes hasn’t ...

The One Where Gunther From ‘Friends’ Takes Us On A Tour Of Central Perk

by 29 mins ago

Ah, “Friends.” The iconic sitcom debuted on September 22, 1994, and has held a place in our hearts — and DVRs — ever since. Every devotee of the show has at least once or twice dreamed of dropping by Central Perk, the coffee shop that served as a sort of second home for the saucy six-some, and grab a cup of joe with a side of snark from Gunther.

James Michael Tyler, the actor who portrayed the barista with hair “brighter than the sun,” was the guest star to appear most on the show, ranking only behind the main cast in number of on-air appearances. He loved Rachel, and we loved him.

To celebrate the show’s premiere reaching the two-decade mark, a recreation of Central Perk, containing the actual orange couch Monica, Rachel, Phoebe, Chandler, Joey and Ross lounged on so often, alongside artifacts from the show, will be temporarily open for business in New York City.

MTV News got the chance to stop by and check out Central Perk (located at 199 Lafayette in downtown New York) and get a tour from none other than Gunther himself. Want to see your favorite surly barista sing “Smelly Cat” while standing next to an actual box of Smelly Cat kitty litter? Look no further.

Eminem Is In Another Battle With Some Politicians

by 8 mins ago

Eminem has had plenty of beefs in the past — from issues with Benzino to George W. Bush — and now he’s got another on his hands. The star rapper and his publishing companies are suing New Zealand’s National Party for copyright infringement on his song “Lose Yourself,” saying they used the track in a campaign ad.

“It is both disappointing and sadly ironic that the political party responsible for championing the rights of music publishers in New Zealand by the introduction of the three strikes copyright reforms should itself have so little regard for copyright,” Joel Martin, a spokesman for the publishing companies, Eight Mile Style and Martin Affiliated, told The Guardian.

The party, however, says they weren’t in the wrong. According to the Associated Press, the defendants say the track was originally published by a Los Angeles company called Spider Cues Music, and the party then bought it from an Australian-based supplier.

“We’ve got all the licensing, we’ve told them that and made it clear again this afternoon. We also incidentally moved on from this song about two weeks ago at the same time they first started to raise questions,” Campaign manager Steven Joyce said.

Check out a version of the commercial below, with clips of Em’s chart-topper interspersed throughout.

Which Other John Green Girl Could Cara Delevingne Play?

by 8 mins ago

By Amanda Bell

Scooch over, Shailene Woodley. Cara Delevingne is coming in hot as the newest John Green girl now.

After wink-nudge name-dropping the King of YA during a chat with ELLE for London Fashion Week — the mag asked about her about her current reading list and she quipped, “Something really good, but I’m not allowed to tell you… wait, I will. John Green. You know, ‘The Fault in Our Stars’? I’m reading a lot of John Green. I love it. But that’s all [I can say]” — she’s now been confirmed for the leading lady role in the adaptation of Green’s “Paper Towns.”

Delevingne will portray Margo in the film, a gal who’s pretty much the coolest chick in the world — at least, in the eyes of her most ardent admirer, Quentin “Q” Jacobsen (rumored to be Nat Wolff), who pretty much flips the world on its head trying to unravel the little mystery he believes she’s laid out after him after her disappearance. This is the kinda chick who’ll jump through your bedroom window in the middle of the night dressed like a ninja and not back down from the sight of a dead guy, so she’s gotta have a sassy side to her in addition to being just so gawjus.

Margo is a great fit for Delevingne, sure, but since the lit-to-film ladies are pretty much always going two-for-two on these properties these days (see also, Woodley, Chloe Grace Moretz, Teresa Palmer ...

‘Sons Of Anarchy’: Kim Coates Teases Venus, Violence, And Forgiveness For Gemma

by 8 mins ago

While watching the violent, explosive premiere of “Sons of Anarchy’s” last season, we were faced with approximately eight zillion questions. (But we narrowed them down to seven.) Many of these questions involved the seemingly inevitable fates of Juice (Theo Rossi) and Gemma (Katey Sagal), who both betrayed their club spectacularly through various f–ked up Moments of Mayhem, but there’s one in-the-know party who says we shouldn’t count them out just yet: Kim Coates, the man behind SAMCRO’s fiercely loyal Tig Trager.

“He would [forgive Gemma],” Coates told MTV News over the phone. “If we think about six seasons of Tig Trager, he was always bullets before brains. It should be brains before bullets. Tig has done wrong things at the wrong time by accident, and I think… if Tig were to find out that Gemma took out Tara, there would be an unbelievable sadness, but he’s been in that world. He’s lived in that world. He’s been in those positions where he’s killed the wrong person.”

SONS OF ANARCHY -- Pictured: Katey Sagal as Gemma Teller. CR: James Minchin/FXFX

If this sounds crazy to you then, well, you clearly haven’t been keeping up with “Sons of Anarchy.” Trager ran over an important rival’s daughter at the end of season four, accidentally murdered club member Opie’s wife Donna during season one, and … well, the list goes on and on. So it makes sense when Coates ...
