Hey, everyone! I have exciting news. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has confirmed that he’ll star in a “Shazam” movie (via USA Today), but he hasn’t decided whether he’s going to play Captain Marvel or the evil Black Adam.

Wait. Isn’t this news from 2007? It actually is.

But don’t worry, you haven’t slipped back in time. Johnson once again faces the dilemma of which role to take on in a “Shazam” movie, despite having already decided on the part of Black Adam seven years ago. So what gives?

The tale of Dwayne Johnson and the “Shazam” movie is typical of the sometimes eternal Hollywood development cycle.

Back in 2007, Johnson was developing a “Shazam” film with director Pete Segal for Warner Bros., and he had to choose between the two roles and sided with what the fans wanted: Black Adam. Eventually, that iteration of “Shazam” disappeared and with it, Segal.

Johnson, however, stayed attached, and when rumors of a revived “Shazam” movie started appearing earlier this year as a part of Warner Bros’ new superhero initiative, it was essentially a different project. The work Johnson had done on the movie mostly reset, including the decision of whether to play the hero or the villain.

So the “Shazam” movie has doubled back on itself, development-wise, and has almost caught up with its 2007 version. In his latest interview about the project, Johnson said that he still prefers Black Adam, but that he has a tough choice ahead of him.

Okay, okay, so Benedict Cumberbatch isn’t exactly reprising his “Star Trek Into Darkness” Khan at this point in time. But he is lending his impressive vocal talents to the upcoming Warner Bros. adaptation of “The Jungle Book” playing — you guessed it — the villainous tiger Shere Khan. You know, this guy:

The Hollywood Reporter confirmed Cumberbatch’s casting on August 19, and the headlines essentially wrote themselves since, you know, Khan. The film will be directed by the motion capture god among men Andy Serkis, and is based on Rudyard Kipling’s short stories that were famously adapted by Disney in 1967.

Interestingly enough, another sexy Brit — Idris Elba — will also voice Shere Khan in a competing Jon Favreau film that is already fully cast. What’s also interesting is that Cumberbatch’s version of the talking, man-eating tiger is actually an engineered super-tiger who initially went by the name of John Harrison.

Three years ago today (August 19), One Direction unveiled their boyband-iest video possible: their first video, “What Makes You Beautiful.” With montages of the boys on a road trip in a throwback van, running around on a beach fully clothed (in matching white ensembles of varying styles) and that girl Madison, whose hair flapped around in the sea-salty air, “What Makes You Beautiful” is iconic 1D — right down to the extreme bopping. Boy, did they love to bop.

I remember seeing the video surface on Tumblr three years ago, with captions like “And just like that, I’m a One Direction fan.” The term “directioner” was just being born. Shortly after the video emmerged, fan accounts sprung up like ice cream trucks near a playground. One Direction had arrived, and we all wanted a taste.

Some of my favorite parts? The pointing, the running from the waves, Liam’s luscious hair, the never-ending smiles (seriously, these dudes love to smile), and Niall establishing himself as the goofiest of the group. The guys were little puppy dogs, and after a complete four years in the fandom, we can look back on their baby faces and bottomless adrenaline and reminisce on how five boys from the U.K. could win over our hearts in the simplest way possible — by just singing on the beach.

Next time anybody tries to shame you for having too much no-strings-attached sex, throw this truth bomb their way: You’re just taking a unique path to the altar.

A study released today from the University of Virginia reports that a whopping 32% of married couples had no intention of having a relationship the first time they got physical. The study (which began in 2007) followed 1,300 participants, all of whom had started dating someone after a hookup. Five years later, almost a third of them had gotten hitched.

“People who started out as a hookup sometimes evolve to something more,” sociologist Kathleen Bogle told USA Today. “Sooner or later, they want to settle down and have a relationship.”

This sounds like promising news for anyone who’s reading this while taking the walk of shame. (You just met your life partner! Your parents will be so proud!) But there’s one big caveat: Marriages that begin as hookups are apparently less happy.

Oh, and in case you do eventually decide to wed what’s-her-face from last weekend, remember to invite a s–t ton of people; the study also found that the more wedding guests a couple has, the higher their marital satisfaction. Not to mention, you’ll get loads of gifts. Score!

One perk of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge is getting to watch our favorite stars be reduced to shrieking, shaking, wet dogs of human beings as they help to raise awareness and money to fight Lou Gehrig’s Disease. So when we saw Britney and Miley‘s Ice Bucket videos, “one of these things is not like the others” danced through our heads.

The two pop stars took the challenge this week: Spears accepting after being nominated by her sister Jamie Lynn, and Miley taking up the mantle passed to her by her dad, Billy Ray.

Brit’s video is a thing of beauty. After nominating Adam Sandler, her boyfriend David Lucado and business manager Robin Greenhill, the “Perfume” singer shrieks — before the water even hits her head — shuffling off-screen after the downpour as what sounds like an expletive bursts from her lips. We could watch this little vid all day.

Miley, however, dumped a bucket of rice over her head — along with brother Braison. Yes, “rice.” With an “r.” The whole thing looked kind of like an enjoyable spa treatment of sorts. Still, the caption of the photo highlighted the importance of the cause: “#makeshithappen #donate #itaintaboutthepourinitsaboutthepayinandawareness http://www.alsa.org/”
