Above And Beyond Call Their #1 Acoustic Album ‘More A Diversion’

After 15 years of making trance music, Above and Beyond are now officially sitting at #1 on iTunes for something a little different: an all-acoustic album.

The album release comes after members Jono Grant, Tony McGuinness and Paavo Siljamaki debuted acoustic versions of their music this summer in London. The 24-instrument orchestra was not only a success in the eyes of their massive fan base, but to all fans and critics who heard their new soothing compositions.

MTV News caught up with McGuinness and Siljamaki to find out just how much it took to go from producing on their laptops to directing an orchestra of live instruments.

"The process of translating these dance productions into songs is maybe simpler than it might have been, because we tend to write them in a fairly acoustic way. We sit down with a piano or an acoustic guitar," McGuinness said. "We tend to write a song, get the song working in a basic way, and then start the dance production."

When working in the other direction — taking the basic version of a song and making it into an electronic dance track — Tony describes the process as a "degree of embellishment."

The guys are already at work on their next album, but what will it sound like? Has this acoustic work changed Above and Beyond' s style forever, or will the group stick to its trance roots?

"We've really enjoyed the acoustic thing, and it shows what you can do if you look in that particular direction, but I don't think we want to change directions," McGuinness ...

Love Is A Lie: The Puppy And Horse In That Bud Commercial Have A Big Secret

The high-point of last night's Super Bowl — aside from, you know, a team winning and Bruno Mars singing — was undoubtedly Budweiser's touching commercial featuring a puppy and a Clydesdale falling love. We have it on good authority, however, that their love affair was all a lie. And we do, of course, mean this over-dramatically.

MTV News reached out to Budweiser to find out the facts behind the popular commercial only to be told that eight puppies were featured in the spot, as well as 17 Clydesdales. That means, friends, that the animals doubled up on acting duties — much like Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen on "Full House."

"Each of the puppies and horses were trained to do specific 'talents,'" a rep from Budweiser told MTV News. "So like one puppy dug under the fence, one nuzzled the horse, one walked with the group of horses, etc. Same with the horses."

It took three months for the horses in question to master those skills — and to trick us all into believing in a love that could never be.

When asked if any of the puppies and horses seemed particularly smitten with each other, the rep said: "I don't think they really had enough time to interact one-on-one to become TRUE friends — but anecdotally, our Clydesdale ranchers have seen friendships form between the horses and this particular breed of dogs, which is why they used Golden Labs."

So, well, at least it's possible, right?

Carly Rae Jepsen Takes Us Backstage At Cinderella: Check It Out

There's a new princess on Broadway: Carly Rae Jepsen.

After weeks of rehearsal, and photo teasers in her ball gown, Jepsen will officially put on those glass slippers Tuesday as she begins her three-month run as the fairytale favorite in

Before her big debut, the "Call Me Maybe" singer invited MTV News behind the scenes of her Broadway show, where she took us to Cinderella's home, put her dance moves on display and showed off those famous glass slippers.

"It was surprisingly emotional," Jepsen said when she first tried on the shoes. "I think that it's just such a classic tale and the shoes are so much a focal point to the whole thing and they were like, 'What size are you?' And I was just really happy that it actually fit. I was like it would be a bad omen if my first try, the size is off, but it did fit."

And Jepsen is fitting right in, being Cinderella, even if Broadway took a bit of time to get used to.

"It's a huge learning curve for me, but it's intimidating in a lot of ways as well," Jepsen said. "It's 24 hours and I sleep, I have dreams about Cinderella. Luckily, I have good people around me."

Those people, including "The Nanny" star Fran Drescher, who will play her evil stepmother, might have to keep a close eye on Jepsen when it comes time for the horse-drawn carriage scene: She shared that she might get a bit emotional.

"Every single time this scene happens, I feel like balling ...

Schoolboy Q’s Oxymoron Track List Unveils Big-Time Features

Schoolboy Q has proven to be a meticulous artist, having released just two projects since 2011. It appears he's taken the same careful approach on his upcoming album, Oxymoron. The track list, which was revealed early Monday morning (February 3), includes both past collaborators as well as some pleasant surprises.

In addition to the previously released "Collard Greens" with Kendrick Lamar, two songs feature other Top Dawg Entertainment artists lending Q an assist, according to the list of songs published to MissInfo.TV. Early on is "Los Awesome," featuring Jay Rock, a potential ode to the city from which the two MCs hail. Later, Q enlists the recently signed SZA for "His & Her Friend."

Beyond Rock and K-Dot, the 27-year-old passes the mic to West Coast artists a number of times, bridging a generational gap on "The Purge," which features Tyler, the Creator and Kurupt.

Kurupt isn't the only OG to lend a hand and a verse to Q on his major-label debut: Raekwon appears on "Blind Threats." That bicoastal collaboration seems both surprising and exciting on paper, and the same can be said for "What They Want," featuring 2 Chainz.

BJ the Chicago Kid, with whom Schoolboy Q collaborated on his 2011 independent release, Setbacks, also appears on the album, as does Bay Area mainstay Suga Free.

With the track list now available, Q is one step closer to the release of his Interscope debut. While it could be a nerve-racking time for an artist, particularly coming on the heels of Kendrick's success, the TDE rapper explained on the January ...

What Other Heroes Should Appear In Marvel’s Phase Three?

In the past few weeks, there has been a lot of talk about the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, since both "Thor 3" and "Captain America 3" were confirmed as eventualities by hiring writers and potential directors, respectively.

With "Ant-Man" starting production soon and sequels for "Thor" and "Cap" on the way — assuming they'll fit into Marvel's Phase Three, which is not guaranteed — that leaves only a few spots to fill before "Avengers 3."

The MTV News team has a few ideas about how Marvel could close out their Phase Three, so our writers have each come up with three movies that they'd like to see included before the next "Avengers."

"Planet Hulk"
"Doctor Strange"
"Black Panther"
"Planet Hulk" keeps Marvel in the stars, and allows them to tell an entirely new and unusual story featuring the Jade Giant. "Doctor Strange" is Kevin Feige's baby. The Marvel head honcho has been an outspoken proponent of the Sorcerer Supreme for years. It's a matter of when, not if, a "Doctor Strange" movie happens. Before "Guardians of the Galaxy" was announced, Marvel was said to be eyeing "Black Panther" as part of its Phase Two lineup. Obviously, that didn't happen. It's entirely possible that T'Challa will make his debut in "The Avengers: Age of Ultron," given rumors of shooting locations in Africa, possibly posing as Black Panther's fictional kingdom of Wakanda. — Josh Wigler

"War Machine"
"Loki"
"Marvel Knights: Dark Avengers,"
You don't think Marvel is going to let an entire cycle go by without an "Iron Man" movie, right? Though RDJ might be out ...

Green Day’s Dookie At 20: Too Stoned To Live, Too Young To Die

Green Day has always been guilty of over-thinking things.

It's kind of been their dirty little secret; the reason they've always struggled with the follow-ups to their biggest albums (anyone remember Insomniac or 21st Century Breakdown?), and why their career has followed the same cycle for nearly three decades now — a breakout, world-uniting album, a slow fade into the background, then a bracing, bold return to prominence. Even when they're supposedly playing fast and loose, like on 2012's ¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, ¡Tre! trilogy, you can tell they're still caught up in their own heads. There truly is nothing Green Day does without deep consideration ... for better or worse, there is always a method to their madness.

That's not meant to be a slight. In fact, it's part of the reason they've enjoyed such longevity, and why they're a great band.

But it hasn't always been this way. For proof, go back to their breakout album, Dookie, which was released 20 years ago this month, and still stands as a testament to a band operating without a net or a plan. Partially because, at the time they made it, they were too young to know any better, but also because they were probably too baked, bored, or buzzed to even form a cohesive thought.

There are shortage of stoned, slacker missives — everything from their classic "Longview" and the anthemic apathy of "When I Come Around," to songs like "Burnout," "Chump," "F.O.D." (you know, "F--k Off and Die,") and, of course, hidden track "All By Myself," a true testament to in-studio ...
