The Real Winners (And Losers) At The 2014 Grammys

There were plenty of awards given out at the 56th Grammy Awards, though taking home a golden gramophone doesn't automatically make you a winner.

Just ask Kendrick Lamar, who inexplicably went 0-for-7 on Sunday night (so much for my bold prediction), yet is still a winner in my book, thanks to his show-stealing performance with Imagine Dragons.

Of course, there were plenty of folks who did hear their name called, and any recap of the night's big winners wouldn't be complete without mentioning them. The same goes for those who left the Grammys empty-handed. Hey, we've got to include a few losers, too. So while we'll spend all day debating Music's Biggest Night, here's my breakdown of the Winners ... and the Losers.

Winners

Daft Punk: Let's see ... a highlight-reel performance featuring Pharrell, Stevie Wonder and Nile Rodgers and four Grammy awards, including Album and Record of the Year? Yep, that makes them winners in our book. And they did it all without ever speaking a word. Impressive, indeed.

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis: They swept the rap categories (except for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration, which they weren't nominated for) and nabbed Best New Artist, bringing home four awards in all. And that's in addition to their memorable performance of which brought social issues to the Grammy stage, in one of the most poignant ways imaginable.

Lorde: She had us wrapped around her (ink-stained) fingers with a sparse, stripped-down take on then went out and won a pair of Grammys, including Song ...

‘Sherlock’ Burning Questions: Will Sherlock Be Held To His Last Vow?

Not even a murder plot could dampen the romance between John Watson and Mary Morstan in this week's episode of "

As always, "Sherlock" left us with plenty to ponder 'til the series finale. Here are the questions upon which we're dwelling while we wait until next week, and "His Last Vow."

Can we get a Sherlockian wedding planning service, please?
A sociopathic guardian angel who can divine the true sentiment behind an RSVP card, shame the bride's obsessed ex-boyfriend into submission, wrangle the weird little kid, and remember the precise color of the bridesmaids' dresses whilst making art out of napkins? Yes. YES. This is a service we need — am I right ladies?

Who's Redbeard?
Just before Sherlock hangs up on Mycroft after their chat during the wedding reception, the older Holmes slips in a final jab: "Remember Redbeard?" For Sherlock, the answer is obviously yes, but the rest of us? Stumped. Is this a reference to a young Sherlock's silly aspirations of piracy? A secret code word, a la Lazarus? A sly nod on the part of Mark Gatiss to the state of his actual,
real-life facial fuzz?

Is there trouble in Molly's doppleganger paradise?
After all that poor Molly Hooper has been through, girlfriend really deserves a happily-ever-after with her lovely fiance, who just happens to look like a world-class Cumberbatch Sherlock cosplayer. But alas, the man's Sherlockian similarities are only skin-deep, to Molly's major embarrassment. We're hold out hope that the relationship be saved if Tom promises to stick with seduction, not deduction, but the scowl on the medical ...

The 2014 Grammy Performances: Who Sucked, And Who Stole The Show

By our count, there were 20 performances during Sunday night's Grammys, some that we'll be talking about for years to come and others that, well, are probably better off being forgotten. And just in case you didn't catch every single musical moment, well, we decided to rank them for you ... from worst to best.

20. Ringo Starr, "Photograph": Now we know why the Beatles only let Ringo sing a couple of tunes. This one was pretty rough, though at least Starr broke out his best karaoke moves for the night.

19. Metallica and Lang Lang, "One": Doomy piano and plenty of pyro, surprisingly little punch. And while we could ask what Metallica were even doing at this show, we'd rather give props to Kirk Hammett for wearing a Lou Reed Transformer shirt.

18. Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, "Queenie Eye": Hey, at least Yoko liked it.

17. Hunter Hayes (and his new hair style), "Invisible": You knew it was supposed to be inspirational because they had quotes from John Lennon, Lady Gaga and, uh, Johnny Depp on the screen behind him. Who knew King Joffrey was such a softie?

16. Keith Urban and Gary Clark Jr. "Cop Car": Rootsy and gritty, though largely forgettable, save for a nice guitar rave up at the end.

15. John Legend, "All Of Me": Straightforward and sweet, this one got a much-deserved standing ovation. Will definitely get lost in all the recap shuffle, but this one was a gem. Also, to whichever producer decided to strategically light Legend's new wife, Chrissy Teigen, in the audience: congrats on ...

Missed The Grammys? Here’s 5 Crazy Things That Happened

The 56th Annual Grammy Awards rocked the Staples Center on Sunday (January 26) with collaborative performances, some surprising wins and one incredible booty pat. There was witchy fashion, notable headwear and some noticeable absences on the red carpet. But most of all, there was an undeniable sense of togetherness as artists from every genre came together. Here are the highlights from this year's Grammys.

Daft Punk Wins One For Robots Everywhere
The Random Access Memories duo had a night to remember at the 2014 Grammy Awards when they took home the award for Album of the Year. Their performance of their hit "Get Lucky" with Pharrell Williams, Nile Rodgers and Stevie Wonder, was only the second time in six years the pair have performed on television. Was it worth the wait? We think so.

Beyoncé's Booty Breaks The Internet
Queen Bey opened the 2014 Grammy Awards with a twerk-tastic rendition of her hit "Drunk (In Love)." Rocking a black bodysuit and wet hair, Beyoncé spun on a slowly rotating platform, proving her power vocals and her insane dance skills with ease. But it was when her hubby Hova appeared on stage that the performance heated up to smokin' hot. The moment where Jay Z grabbed his wife's butt basically broke the internet. We can't seem to get the GIF out of our minds... nor do we want to.

Underneath It's All The 'Same Love'
Macklemore and Ryan Lewis made history with a moving performance of their Grammy-winning song "Same Love" on Sunday night. The ...

Macklemore Vs. Kendrick Lamar: Grammy Wins And Losses Spark Controversy

It was a truly emotional night for rap fans who tuned into the 2014 Grammy Awards. What seemed to be a promising night for hip-hop — with newcomers Kendrick Lamar and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis tied for seven nominations each — turned out to be a little sour, despite the triumphs.

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis started their sweep early in the night, and by the end of the show they had earned four Grammys for Best Rap Album, Best Rap Song, Best Rap Performance and, of course, Best New Artist.

Kendrick Lamar, on the other hand, walked away with zero awards. Zero. And this didn't sit too well with his supporters. There was no doubt that Macklemore & Ryan Lewis deserved to be honored for their record-breaking year, but while rap fans sent their congratulations, many of them still felt that Kendrick Lamar was cheated. Especially those who really thought that he deserved to win Best Rap Album for his theatrical major-label debut good kid, m.A.A.d city.

Kendrick's TDE labelmate, Schoolboy Q, was one of the most outspoken on Twitter, simultaneously giving props to Macklemore and threatening vengeance if K. Dot wasn't properly rewarded. "If kendrick doesn't win a Grammy I'm Fading da industry braH none of y'all safe," he tweeted. "And all u busters tHats in attendance tHats didn't vote for KENDRICK r str8 mark az n----!!!. Dnt act like Macklemore didn't deserve a lot jus Dot did also!!! Now ima sHut my big moutH cuHz I talk 2 mucH #OXYMORON."

2014 Grammy Awards: Watch Stars Show Off Their Best Dance Moves

The Grammy Awards are a night for music's brightest stars to come together, celebrate one another and headbang during emotional piano performances, but there's another purpose for the ceremony that's a little lesser-known: a testing ground for new dance moves.

Think about it: the camera is pointed at an audience full of the industry's top professionals almost as often as at the stage. While it's awesome to catch the stankfaces, side-eyes and surprised D-faces after winners are announced, it's even better to catch attendees rocking their signature dance moves, shaking it like a Polaroid picture or otherwise.

For example, take a look at Lorde, who snagged awards at Sunday's ceremony for Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance, pulling a little move we like to think of as Gothic Jazz Hands.

While their dancing was certainly more composed than it would be had they actually been drunk, for "Drunk in Love," married duo Beyoncé and Jay Z demonstrated the Surfboarding dance move with great skill and enthusiasm, and Bey proved that Miley's not the only one who can twerk for the weekend.

Katy Perry took a break from roaring to debut what we've dubbed the Witchy Wiggle. (Stop trying to make "broomwerk" werk, Katy.)

What did you think of the Grammy attendees' signature moves? Who would win in a dance-off?

Robot Invasion: Daft Punk Win Album And Record Of The Year Grammy

The robots have landed, and they are funky. On a night when the even money was on Sara Bareilles pulling off a Grammy surprise or Macklemore & Ryan Lewis having an even more massive night than they already did, when the curtain fell on the 56th annual Grammy Awards, it was a pair of silent robots from France who took home the top prize.

Who Was That Little Dude?

After asking collaborator Pharrell to do the honors twice before, when time came to accept Album of the Year, Daft Punk masterminds Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter nominated famed songwriter and Random Access Memories collaborator Paul ("The Rainbow Connection") Williams to do the honors.

All Love For 'Same Love'

An emotional Williams joked about how he used to have visions back before he got sober, "Then two robots called me and asked me to make an album," he joked. "We are Random Access Memories, some of us more random than others."

Though they don't speak, William said he got a message from the mute mechanical duo about what their album was all about. "As elegant and as classy as the Grammys has ever been was the moment when we saw those wonderful marriages," he said, referring to the couples who said their vows during an emotional version of Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' "Same Love" which featured Madonna. "And it was the height of fairness and love and the power of love for all people at any time in any combination is what they wanted me to say," Williams added.

Say Goodbye To All Those ...
